Our home is located on a private paved road and the lot size is 1.6 acres. The house in setback over 100 feet from the road and the rear yard has a cleared area for frisbee or wiffle ball or just catching the sun and relaxing.
The home has individual A/C units throughout and has nearly new stainless steel kitchen appliances. All the doors and windows have been changed to Andersen windows.
The house has a fantastic wraparound deck which is covered on one side and open for suntanning on the other side. The Weber gas grill is located on the deck so family cookouts await.
Bike paths are less than a mile away. Long Point Beach, one of the nicest most private beaches on the Vineyard is 2 miles away.
The home has 3 bedrooms and two full baths located on the first floor. The master bedroom has its own full bath with a clawfoot tub/shower combination and the 2 other bedroom share the other full bath which has a stall shower. There is also an outside shower with hot water.
The house can sleep up to 6 people or 2 people per bedroom.
There is a washer/dryer on the first floor. The 2nd floor consists of a kitchen, dining room and living room. The layout is very open with vaulted ceilings and lots of windows and sliding doors. The living room and dining room lead to the wraparound deck.
There is a gas burning oven on the 2nd floor which is great when the weather is chilly.
We have 3-4 adult bikes available.
My wife and I purchased our Marthas Vineyard dream home in 2005. We are both from NY although we have lived in Florida since 1994.
We have traveled to Marthas Vineyard since 1993 and have gone back almost every year since. It is heaven on earth as far as we are concerned.
I am a high end contractor in South Florida and as such, when we bought the house, we renovated most of it.
So come enjoy our little piece of paradise and we are sure you will have great times there just as we have.
Steven purchased this house in 2005
Marthas Vineyard is to me the most perfect place to vacation. You can be laid back in flip flops all summer or be as formal and fancy as you want.
We love where our house is located. It is a 2 minute drive to the airport and the airport 12-13 mile bike trial is 1/4 of a mile away.
We love the beach and running and the beach is a 2 mile run down a quiet road.
We love that we are a 10 minute drive away from Edgartown and all the action there but that it is very quiet and not so crowded by our house.
The huge property lends itself to barbecues, games of frisbee and wiffleball so all ages can enjoy the house.
The property also has wooded paths leading to another street behind us, so the kids will love exploring back there.
All in all we think Marthas Vineyard along with where our home is and its updated condition will be a great family vacation for all.
We chose the property because of the large area (1.6 acres) and because of the view to the backyard from the deck.
We also love the huge white clamshell driveway which leads up to the house.
The proximity to the bike paths wasreally important to us.
We also love the gas burning fireplace on those cold autumn nights.
our first impression on arrival, was what a great space the main floor is. the furnishings and accessories used, including a bookcase of recent books and a selection of board games, were just a sampling of the special touches found in this house. we really appreciated the provision of towels and bed linens for all the rooms, and found the items provided were of excellent quality, and complimented the rooms beautifully. each of the beds in the bedrooms had a lovely quilt on it as a finishing touch. the kitchen is small, but so well applianced and accessorized, it works quite well. we are always thrilled to see a gas stove! the outside shower met all of our needs, we hate showering inside when we are on the vineyard!
the deck encompasses two sides of the house, on the upper level, as the house is an upside down house with bedrooms downstairs. there were two loungers at one end, where the sun was likely to be, along with two regular chairs. on the other side of the deck there are three very comfortable rocking type wicker chairs with a small cocktail type table, a great spot for an afternoon cool drink or morning tea and coffee.
overall, the house had a great feeling, much like being in a really nice B&B, without the breakfast service!
location wise, the house is 6/10 of a mile from barnes road, off of the edgartown/west tisbury road. tricky if the traffic is tough, but not too bad to negotiate. the road is well paved, and the oyster shell drive is easy to negotiate. the airport is nearby, but we didn't find it too bothersome, and actually got to see some of the planes for the presidential escort arriving and departing.
Rachel actually met us at the house, which was potentially going to be a problem for us, because we had a late ferry, but she was able to accommodate us even when we were able to get on an earlier ferry!
Our House is located less than 1 mile from the main airport bike path which leads to all the main towns of Marthas Vineyard. We are 2 miles from Long Point Beach which is on the Atlantic Ocean. West Tisbury is about equidistant from Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven so access to each by car is about a 10-15 minute drive by car. There are great hiking and walking trails less than 1 mile from the home.
