The gorgeous drive through the Merced River Canyon brings you to Yosemite National Park. The Ponderosa House is conveniently located in the community of Midpines close to the Highway 140 corridor. The Yosemite National Park boundary is a 25-mile drive along the “all weather highway” which follows the Wild and Scenic Merced River (37 miles to Yosemite Village). The gold rush town of Mariposa is only 10 miles to the west. Merced is 45 miles, and the Fresno airport is a 90-minute drive. The Merced River Recreation Area (Briceburg) is less than 8 miles away.

We like to prepare our own food and the kitchen was great for this. Bedrooms were quiet and private with comfortable bedding. Living area was great for a group of 6 with lots of games to enjoy as well. Hot tub was great for after a long hike in the park. It was clean and heated up fast. It rained for an entire day and we passed a content day at this house waiting for better weather. Location is ideal, as it's only 15 mins to downtown Mariposa and 45 mins to Yosemite. I would stay again.
Felt like home, perfect place to spend three winter days, with easy access to the Yosemite Valley and local township of Mariposa. Thanks for the excellent hospitality and my daughters have a new canine friend in Riley.
We had a wonderful time at the Ponderosa House. After a week of travelling around California we wanted a quiet spot, close to Yosemite, to recover. Renea's house was perfect. It was a chilly couple of days but the house was lovely and warm. The kitchen is well equipped and there are a lot of puzzles and games provided for entertainment. The beds are comfortable and the bedding was very nice.
Mariposa is close by and has a cute little shopping street.
It was a little difficult to find in the dark so make sure you follow the directions provided.
We would love to return next time we are visiting Yosemite. Thanks for a lovely stay!
This home is very comfortable, the kitchen is very nice, fully equipped. Every room has a heater. Nicely decorated. I would rent this house again next time I come back to yosemite.
We had a wonderful time on our pre Holiday getaway. The house was just perfect! Close enough to get out and explore the Yosemite beauty and settle in for a wonderful night under the magnificent starry skies! Everything and more from what we expected.
My wife and I spent Christmas at the Ponderosa house this year. The house is super cute and had all the amenities one would need. It was pretty cold outside and the house did have a difficult time warming up even with the multiple heaters. The water did stop working at one point, but Rod was great and came over right away to get it working again. It's about a 30-45 minute drive straight into the park which is wonderful. We spent two days exploring and the snowfall made it feel like we were back home in the Midwest. Such a beautiful place. Thank you guys for being such nice hosts.
Just so everyone knows there is a tiny single pump gas station if you make a left on the 140 about a quarter of a mile down the road. They have all the basic food and items one would need if you forgot something. You don't have to drive all the way back into Mariposa.
