About the property

Stunning 2 bedroom houseboat on Lake Union.

Floating on the beautiful water of East Lake Union is SeaZen Float. This beautiful vessel was built in 2007 in a very green fashion with high quality construction and the environment in mind by 2 brothers with a lot of love. One of the brothers lived there for 10 years and sold her to me now because of a relocation. She is 46 feet long, has a 15 foot beam and a 24 inch draft. She has an aluminum, barge style hull.

I added a few upgrades like the spiral staircase up to the rooftop deck and she is now available for you to come experience life on a houseboat!

There are hardwood floors on the main level that were just refinished. There are built-ins throughout the salon on the upper floor. It has a wet bar and a stone fireplace. In the galley there is a Chef's kitchen has a gas stove and stainless steel appliances. The is a new grill just outside the kitchen. There is a porch on both the bow and stern of the main level with a relaxing sitting area. There is a powder room on this level.

The 2 bedrooms are on the lower level, both have comfortable queen size beds. There is a gorgeous 5 piece bathroom with a rain shower and a separate soaking bathtub. The bathroom has in floor heating. The walk in closet of the second bedroom hosts a full sized washer and dryer.

The rooftop deck will give you a 360 view of Seattle! Even on those occasional cloudy days there are spectacular views of the city. There is a rowing club right next door. I find it fascinating to watch the crew handling their shells. There are always sailboats, electric boats, power boats, kayaks, and SUP (paddle boards) active on the water so there is a lot to look at and enjoy while you are sitting relaxing and sipping on your favorite beverage. I do have a couple of kayaks if you want to get out on the lake and paddle around yourself.

Historic Gas Works Park is a 19 acre public park on the North side of Lake Union. It was the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant. It is now a place that locals and tourists flock to and enjoy year round!

Ivar Haglund began an annual 4th of July fireworks display on Lake Union in 1980. You will be hard pressed to find a better place to experience the fireworks than on SeaZen Float!

The Argosy Christmas Ship Festival has been a beautiful holiday tradition since 1949. The parade of decorated boats light up the water of Lake Union with more than 65 registered boats.

About Sharon Morken

I was born and raised in the Seattle area. I always dreamed of living on the water, and was able to fulfill that dream in 2015 when I moved into a floating home. At that time I wasn't aware of the difference between a houseboat and a floating home. I since came to learn that a houseboat is tied to the dock, has a motoring means and has a hull as it is a boat. Houseboats are usually named just like other boats. A floating home is permanently attached to the dock, is supported by some means of floatation like logs or air filled barrels. They both provide an opportunity to feel the soothing rock of the the water.

I retired from a 35 year nursing career and now am pursuing other business adventures. I have raised 4 children and am now blessed with 7 grandchildren. I am lucky to still have my Mom with me and thankful that she moved here from California before I was born. There is no place that I would rather call home. I do enjoy travel and the experience other places and cultures.

I love being outdoors. When I am not out on the water playing, I love to golf, bike, ski, and hike. I absolutely love outdoor concerts in the summer with a picnic and bottle of wine! I have been practicing yoga since I was in college, but discovered aerial yoga a couple years ago and have been hooked ever since. My travels have taken me on a few yoga retreats, a couple of the highlights were one to India and the other was on a boat sailing the waters around Turkey and Greece.

Why Sharon Morken chose Eastlake and Portage Bay

This is a unique opportunity and I couldn't resist buying it and making it into a rental for others to enjoy. I have always believed in the VRBO and Airbnb concepts and thought that this would be a perfect fit for me and my lifestyle.

What makes this house boat unique

I believe that this is the perfect place to stay and see what life is like on the water. I am confident that it will work no matter if you are touring the city or just wanting a place to relax.

There are restaurants within walking distance, it close to public transportation and is close enough to the freeway if you are driving.

A must for a true Seattle experience

  • 5 of 5

Sharon's home and all of its amenities made our experience unforgettable. The home is equipped with anything you may need including games, binoculars and all you need in the kitchen including a few snacks and sparkling water. The home itself is constructed beautifully. Although every area was comfortable, we spent most of our time floating in the lake or playing games on the top deck with many great views. The College Club next door does have a class that meets early (5-6amish) but we managed to fall back asleep. Thank you Sharon for making our trip memorable.

Awesome local getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent our 36th anniversary at SeaZen. It was fantastic. The weather turned out good and we spent time on the top deck with the best view of seattle and the space needle. We had a great time. We brought items with us to snack on but there were all kinds of snacks and drinks supplied by the owner. Thank you Sharon!

Couldn’t Be Happier!

  • 5 of 5

Celebrating our wedding anniversary with something different, I couldn’t be happier than the choice we made to rent this marvelous floating home. It was all and more than we expected. And Sharon went out of her way to make it even more special! Thank you Sharon for a wonderful lifetime memory!

Spectacular even more amazing than the photos

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about our stay. This was our first VRBO experience. We were greeted with a tray filled with a variety of snacks from popcorn, to morning breakfast bars along with a bottle of red wine. The fridge had juices and waters still and sparkling. Coffee is provided on site and Starbucks is a 3 block walk. We so appreciated the kind welcome note as well. We didn’t arrive until after 8pm after a long day of travel and we were able to have a little snack to tide us over before heading to dinner. We have a senior attending the university of Washington and wanted to get a stay on the water before she graduated. Our usual choice of locations is the W to give you an idea of expectation. Sharon, the owner has provided an amazing experience. One that exceeded our families expectection by far. We were in awe of her home. The view, along with every detail inside is unique.

The bedding is super comfy, the bathrooms are not only beautiful they are functional. We had tickets to the Apple Cup Football Game and decided to come back early to finish watching the game in the beautiful living room with its panaramic views. You won’t want to leave. Sharon has games for inside activities, kayaks for outside you’ll want for nothing. We truly hope to stay again on one of our next visits. Definitely a bucket list experience. Thank you Sharon

Overall Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Rain or shine this is a great place to stay! Sharon thank you for everything. It was a perfect family setting for our quick last minute trip over the Holidays. The boat is beautiful! Note to others - The back door off the kitchen locks you out if you do not have the lock set right - Very thankful for my sons climbing skills. HaHa!! . :) We will definitely keep this place in mind on our returns to Seattle.
