A wonderful family get-away opportunity! This comfortable, updated cottage has all the comforts of home. Fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, VCR/DVD, Wifi, AC, even an air hose on the side of the garage to fill your beach floaties. The home sits just across the quite scenic drive from our private beach access path. This 200' long path takes you directly to the new stairway (12 steps) down to the beautiful, sandy beach. Spend your day walking for miles in either direction, or soaking in the sun and waves. This quiet beach is miles from the nearest public access point, providing a wonderful, peaceful setting for you and our neighbors. When you get tired of the sun, you can stroll around the 4 acres that the cottage sits on and enjoy Lars Creek and the surrounding wetland. Spend your evenings on the back patio grilling dinner or sitting around the fire pit.
Our cottage has one cozy bedroom with queen size bed and one larger bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds. Both rooms have closets and ceiling fans. Living room is large and comfortable with two couches and two rocking chairs. The wood burning stove in the living room and the knotty pine trim, throughout the house, complete the 'up north' feel of this cabin. Our cottage has a single bathroom with tub/shower. Open the windows to hear the waves or use the AC on those hot summer nights. Linen closet outside of bathroom will be stocked with bath towels and linens...but don't forget to bring your beach towels :) .
Manistee, the Victorian Port City, has so much to offer you on your vacation with historical buildings and Victorian homes, lighthouse and pier. If fishing is your passion, there is Charter fishing or fishing off the pier and public boat launches. If fishing isn't your thing, you can leisurely walk around the downtown shops or along the Riverwalk and see the boats as they enter the channel.
There are restaurants, shopping and the historic Ramsdell Theater. Several golf courses are within a short drive including: Manistee National, Arcadia Bluffs, and Manistee Country Club. If you enjoy paddling the hours away, you can canoe or kayak on the Manistee River. Get 'back to nature' in the Manistee National Forest or Lake Bluff Audubon Society. There is so much to do. You can just relax, but our personal favorite, is walking the dunes at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The Pierce Stocking Overlook is a sight you will never forget, a must see! For those that have money to lose (SMILE), there is Little River Casino nearby that has concerts from famous groups and artists, and a variety of restaurants.
The Northwest section of Michigan is a wonderful place to vacation with things for everyone to enjoy.
Our family of five lives in Southeastern Michigan. We have dreamed of having a place along Lake Michigan for years, and this dream finally came true. We are overjoyed to be able to share it with you.
Matt Barnes purchased this cottage in 2012
This little get-away cottage has everything we love about an up-North vacation, the beach, the woods and the dunes. We could not have asked for more.
This is not your average rental. This is a beautiful family home that is well cared for and generously shared. The house is spotless and has quality finishes and furnishings. It is fully stocked and supplied with lovely dishes and good quality utensils, etc. The owner is very organized and has a complete list of instructions and useful information provided in writing. The home is not directly on the water, but rather across the road and through a short trail that leads you to the water. The water level was very high and the beach was very small when we were there. In fact, there was no way to sit on the beach without getting wet. I'm guessing this varies from year to year as do all beaches. The only other negative I will mention is that the furniture in the living room is not very comfortable or conducive to a big family sitting around for a movie. The futon is very uncomfortable and is so far removed from the tv and room. Nonetheless, I would give this rental a 5 star and would definitely come back again.
My husband and I and our 4 children (ages 9 months – 8 years) recently spent a week in this very comfortable cabin. Despite being small, it feels quite spacious. It’s in a great location and the owners have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. Our kids enjoyed the bad-mitten court and many hours of playing in the sand and swimming. We got a chance to watch several beautiful sunsets and had fun bonfires with s’mores a couple of evenings. We have rented several vacation houses over the past few years and they have all been good experiences, but Matt and his family go above and beyond! This was by far the most professional and organized experience we have had. They provided a document listing favorite restaurants, fun activities and must-see attractions that was very helpful. We really couldn’t have asked for more. We would highly recommend this cabin and hope to visit again in the future.
Our family had the opportunity to stay at this cabin for a week over the 4th of July this year, and it was a wonderful place. The cabin was exactly as show, very clean, neat and comfortable. The location was perfect for us, close to Lake Michigan and the town of Manistee (you could even hear the waves with the windows open in the evenings). We had a awesome week at the cabin and we would highly recommend this charming little place.
This is a very sweet cabin. It was all that was described as, and more. It was clean, neat, and very welcoming. The weather wasn't the best for our stay but we were very comfortable here. The path to the beach was very pretty, the beach was private and beautiful, the beach grass so lovely. It has a very nice patio, and a great yard. Manistee is a quaint town. The drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes is beautiful. I was here with some old friends for a reunion, we ate most of our meals in so I don't have any recommendations for restaurants. I would stay here again for sure.
We just got home today after our week at this cabin. It was wonderful! We can't say enough about how much our family of 6 enjoyed our week at the cabin, in and around Manistee, and especially on the Lake Michigan beach. The cabin is clean, spacious, and well-equipped. You will find what you need to make your stay comfortable and fun. This cabin presented itself exactly as advertised, and we were very happy with everything we experienced. Highly recommend!!
Six of us stayed here while on a trip to see Michigan's fall colors. The cottage was exactly as described, and was perfect for our family. The beach is beautiful and very close, and the suggested eating locations and activities were right on target. The bedrooms are good sized and comfortable, and the living, dining, and kitchen are large enough to let our family relax. This would be a lovely spot for all seasons, and I hope we are able to come back in the future.
The cabin is across the street from our private access path to the beautiful Lake Michigan Beach. Spend your time strolling along the beach to the lighthouse 3 miles North or play in the waves till the sun sets .
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Area is a short drive North along scenic Route 22 or spend an afternoon in downtown Manistee, the Victorian Port City.
