This upstairs studio is all new construction in 2013. It has new appliances which include, washer, dryer, range, microwave, refrigerator, flat screen satelite T.V. The bathroom does not have a tub but has a glass door shower. We are located five miles west of Kalispell on five beautiful tree'd acres with walking paths and views of the mountains to the west, Glacier Park to the east and Whitfish Ski Resort to the North. There is a large stone lined fire pit for campfires that guests are free to use. The studio is separate from our main family house, with it's own entrance.
I am an Independent Contractor and have lived on this property for 35 years. I moved here from cornfields of Indiana and Ohio. Lisa and I first saw the Flathead Valley on our vacation and decided to quit our jobs in South Bend, Indiana, move here without knowing anyone. It was a good move and have never regretted it. We have two children, Nawnie and Griffin who have spent time out of valley and now are living back here.
I feel fortunate that purchased this property back in 1980, even though it seemed expensive at the time, to buy in today's market might be prohibitive. The beauty of it, is that it is close to town and still very private. There is a K through eighth grade school just down the road from us, which both kids went to. It was just land with no building on it when we purchased, but fortunately, I was pretty handy with a hammer and was able to build my own home over the years when I wasn't working my day job. We lived in a flat roof daylight basement for the first 7 years, saving money to continue building up. It was a lot of incovieniences but worth it in the end. I divided the property a few years back and built another house just up the hill from the first one. This is the house we live in now and my daughter occupies the original house.
I belive the most appealing aspect of this property is that it is very private and yet just eight minutes from the Hutton Ranch complex, where are many resturants and establishments such as Home Depot, Target, Costco, Walmart and many others too numerous to list. The studio sits above my shop that I just finished in 2013. Everything is new and very functional. No worries of any shop noise as I will not be using it when the studio is occupied. I want my guests to have a great Montana expierance and I will do what I can to accomadate that. We have flower gardens that we plant every spring which adds to the beauty. We do have fence them, as I have found nothing that keeps the deer from using it as a smorgasbord. We have lots of wildlife here with deer and an occasional elk passing through. Bald eagles are not uncommon and many different species of birds including a family of turkeys.
Beautiful setting in the woods, but still close enough to Kalispell for shopping and dining out. Very clean, quiet and peaceful studio, which makes for a good night's sleep! Everything I needed was there: a well equipped kitchen, nice bathroom and a washer and dryer.
Doug was very welcoming and helpful, and before actually arriving there, his response time was almost immediate, every time. I can highly recommend this place to everyone who likes to explore the gorgeous Flathead Lake/Kalispell/Whitefish/Glacier NP area.
This is a very quaint, immaculate studio. Although it is on the property, close to the owner's residence, it did have a private feel to it. Doug, owner, is very polite and helpful. I would highly recommend this property. Location is wonderful if you are visiting the east side of GNP. A bit of a drive if you are headed to the west side, or Many Glacier area. The only thing we did not care for was the comfort of the bed. This bed may be just fine for someone who is use to a firm bed. We are use to a pillow top, and struggled sleeping on this bed after a couple days. Thank you Doug!
I so enjoyed my stay at this studio apt. in the pines. The super friendly hosts were accessible, but not intrusive. The studio itself was immaculate and comfortably furnished. The queen size bed was very comfortable and the sheets were super soft. Several wonderful pieces of art are the work one of the hosts. The full kitchen made it easy to relax for my morning breakfast (and bake muffins) and the washer/dryer make it easy to pack light. Having deer visitors was one of the great pleasures of this out of the way stay. I will definitely stay here whenever possible There are a number of stairs to access the apt, so one should be mindful.
Oh, and not to forget, the beautiful stars at night and the morning birds in this quiet, restorative get away are just two of Mother Natures amenities to enjoy.
Doug and Lisa offer an extremely private, clean, and well-equipped studio apartment over their garage. I loved staying there. Deeply peaceful, roomy, the kitchen is fabulous, the water pressure was amazing in the shower (so important when you're traveling!), the amenities rocked! The setting is quiet and peaceful, feels deep in the woods and nature but close to town. And Doug and Lisa couldn't have been nicer or more available. A great location for exploring the area and Glacier! Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Kalispell is very convenient to the nearest airport as well as lots of stores for all your traveling needs.
My husband and I stayed in the studio for five nights this August. We had everything we needed for a wonderful stay in the studio. We spent most of our time hiking and enjoying the beauty in Glacier National Park and it was great to have a comfortable place to think of as home while we were in the area. It's west of the park by about an hour so we were away from all the touristy stuff on the edge of the park. The kitchen was great; we went grocery shopping instead of eating out every day. Likewise, having a washing machine and dryer was perfect for all of our hiking clothes. Doug and Lisa were kind and helpful when we had questions about the area. There was even a deer family that liked to hang around the house. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
A beautiful, clean and very relaxing location to enjoy nature at its finest. Was able to see deer first morning. Great ammonites provided as you were just at home. Close to town and many other activities/locations. Will for sure recommend and stay here again.
We are located about 35 minutes from Glacier National Park. In 20 minutes you can be at Flathead Lake, which is the largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi River. It has abundent opportuities for fishing, boating and swimming. There are many lakes and rivers all within a 30 minute drive. Kalispell and Whitefish are very art oriented with many galleries and a couple of museums. There are many nightclubs that bring in top name bands and entertainers from all over the country. It is not unusual to see celebrities in local bars and restruants, as many have second homes here in the valley.
