About Jessica McVey
My name is Jessica and I manage this property and HomeAway listing. My boyfriend Paul, who is the owner of the home, and I are pictured above on a snow mobile tour through North Lake Tahoe this past 2016-2017 amazing winter! We highly recommend this activity in the winter!
Why Jessica McVey chose Dollar Point
This home is the perfect setting for large and medium size groups. In the summer the deck on the main level was a great place to hang out and relax after our day outdoors. Burton Creek State Park is located near the house. There are miles of beautiful mountain biking and hiking trails near the home also. The restaurant size kitchen is a perfect fit when preparing a large dinner and you're able to fit your entire group at the large dining table. In the winter, there is cross country skiing trails beside the home and plenty of areas to go snowshoeing or sledding. Only about a 10-mile drive to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski resorts.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. It was spacious and well maintained. Pool table and hot tub were new, kitchen was large and well stocked. The owner was extremely quick to respond and made the logistics as easy as possible. Everyone in my group was impressed with the cleanliness, comfort, and luxury the house provided. Would definitely love to stay again.
Thank you, Sakura! Really appreciate your review and your communication throughout your stay. Would love to have you back anytime and glad you enjoyed your stay at the house in Tahoe!
Interesting layout, but good stay!
The hot tub, pool table, guitars, and ample hangout space made it a very fun place to stay, but the bedrooms could be laid out a little better. Great for a trip with lots of singles, but a foldout full would've been much appreciated on the ground floor chess room for an additional couple. The kitchen wasn't as well-equipped for dinnerware/utensils so pick up disposable plates/cups if you're a big group.
Thanks for your opinion and feedback. Sorry if you were confused by our listing, we clearly breakdown sleeping arrangements in every room and we have pictures. The house is set up for entertaining downstairs in the bar room. In the pantry, there are 2 twin air mattresses and sleeping bags in the linen closet if needed. We've entertained 25 people for Thanksgiving dinner at the house and had plenty of dinnerware and silverware, but we will do an inventory check.
We found the spacious house a wonderful stay for the week. There's nooks to watch the snow falling while reading, a quality pool table, and a large hot-tub to soak away aches from skiing. The kitchen was equipped for the impromptu cooking lesson during a stormy night and living room table afforded space for multiple board games to be played while eating the outcome of said cooking lesson. The beds were comfortable and relaxing. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
A few point of advise for future stayers:
The hot-tub has an economy mode which keeps it from getting nice and hot on cold nights. One of the panel buttons turns on the display icon labeled "Standard" on the screen which will get it up to temperature properly.
The living room takes the longest to get the heat from the thermostat changes, so setting the temperature a bit ahead of sunset helps with keeping it at desired temperatures.
There's rock-salt in the garage which we missed until we were leaving. This would have helped with one our cars which struggled to back-out without chains over the driveway ice.
Spacious, unique, gorgeous hottub!
A great amount of space for everybody, a bunch of games to play and close to skiing resorts.
Great time at the Stunning Mountain Retreat
We had a great time at the Stunning Mountain Retreat. The hosts are great to deal with and the home is right next to amazing mountain biking/hiking/cross-country ski trails. This house had plenty of room for our large group. I can't wait to stay here again.
Wonderful stay in a fabulous home
Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Tahoe.
Getting around: Especially while visiting in the fall, winter and spring guests should always have tire chains in their vehicles when visiting the mountains. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is suggested. The high school is located across the street and can be used as additional parking during non-school hours if needed. Other things to note: The front door has a smart lock. To access the home you must have a smartphone to lock/unlock via an ekey. This can be accessed using your phone data, the wifi, or Bluetooth. It is very easy to use, and step-by-step instructions will be provided upon booking. The house is pretty close to both Lake Forest Beach and Commons Beach in Tahoe City. I've walked to both, but you'll probably want to drive, since both beaches are 2 to 3 miles, depending on your route. Another beach that is family friendly is Kings Beach, it's further probably about 8 to 9 miles from the house. The drive is around the lake with pretty views and there should be street parking or there is a parking lot that is usually $10 and close to the sand if you get there earlier in the morning. You can rent various water toys like kayaks and jet skis, plus there are plenty of shops and restaurants around the beach area in the summer.
