Waikoloa Hills is the perfect spot for a relaxing, affordable vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is a quick drive to some of the best beaches on the island. Shopping is a short walk away in the small community of Waikoloa Village. The 1000 foot elevation cools this second story unit with gentle tropical breezes. The new Saddle Road makes the journey to Hilo an easy trip. You can reach Hawaii Volcanos National Park in about 2 hours. The observatory is 1 1/2 hours away. So many activities are available to the adventurous vacationer - from helicopter rides, to zip-lining, to kayaking, to hiking, to horseback riding on the famous Parker Ranch, to exploring on ATVs.
The main floor of the 1100 square foot condo reflects the Hawaiian lifestyle with white wicker furniture. The 2 story vaulted ceilings and big windows make this unit open and airy. The sofa in the living room converts into a queen-size bed. There is new carpeting throughout the unit. There is a good-sized lanai for daytime views of the golf course or evening views of the sunsets. We have provided a flat-screen TV with high-definition cable and DVR service. Bring your family's favorite DVD's or rent from the nearby video store in Waikoloa Village Shopping Center. Internet connection is also available.
The kitchen is open to the dining and living areas so your family or friends are always together. The full kitchen includes a dishwasher and full size refrigerator and granite countertops. We have provided new dishes, glasses, utensils and baking items. There is also a coffee maker, a toaster, mixer and serving dishes.
Both bedrooms are upstairs with their own vaulted ceilings which increase the airy feeling. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed with plenty of closet space. The master bath has tile floors and counter tops. There is a bathtub and shower. All linens are provided. There is a comparable second bath. Both baths have large well-lit mirrors. Each bedroom has a sliding glass door, with a small juliette balcony, which allows you to enjoy the gentle tropical breeze at night. TV's are provided in both bedrooms.
Ceiling fans are located throughout the unit, both in the bedrooms and living room. The unit also has a washer and dryer on the second floor.
Across the parking lot from our unit is a large swimming pool with deck chairs, a hot tub and a public BBQ and picnic table. You will find swim fins, snorkels, sand chairs, a boogie board, beach towels and a soft-side cooler in the cupboard under the stairs.
The village of Waikoloa has everything you will need for your stay. It has a full grocery store, a post office, a bank, a video store, a couple of restaurants and a gas station. There is even a Robert Trent designed golf course (Waikoloa Village Golf Resort) within walking distance. There are also two resort shopping and dining areas located minutes down the hill at Waikoloa Beach Resort.
We recently purchased this condo unit. We wanted a place for our family to go on a regular basis for family time. We made our first trip to Hawaii before our son was born (he is now in his mid thirties) and loved our time here. We live in Oregon, so sunny and warm weather in the winter months is so thrilling.

We have vacationed in Waikoloa Village a number of times and have always made wonderful memories there.
This unit is far enough away from the beaches and beach resort areas to be economical for families. However, it is close to everything that vacationing in Hawaii means to us. Golf, long walks, hiking, beaches. We can either eat in or enjoy one of the many restaurants in the Kohala Coast area. We can spend a day at the beach or spend the day deep sea fishing and enjoy a home cooked meal in the unit. It is all here!

We stayed almost two weeks. The condo was clean and spacious and for two we had more than enough room and would have been great for two couples. Two big bathrooms, clean linens and NEW beds! It was nice to prepare some of our meals in the well equipped kitchen and there was enough (looked new) plastic ware to pack lunches and take with us when we went exploring and lots of beach "toys" especially much needed umbrellas and chairs. Loved to swim in the nice clean pool in the morning which I had to myself. There is a nice little shopping center with grocery store, coffee shop, gas station and a couple cafes, also a beautiful golf course across the street which we didn't use but we walked around it almost every morning to enjoy the cool breezes. Short drive to small towns to the north, and Wiamea and easy access to Saddle Road to Hilo.
Working directly with the owner was satisfactory but the unit is not in very good shape and the description is not sufficient. First of all the cleanliness of the unit is poor. The carpets are quite dirty and the furniture is dirty and threadbare. The mattresses and pillows are quite old and uncomfortable and the bed frame in one bedroom is broken. The unit is on a busy road so sitting on the deck is not enjoyable.
On a positive note, the kitchen is well stocked with cookware and dining ware and there are beach chairs, boogie boards and towels. We valued the location in Waikoloa hills because it is closer to the volcano and to Mauna Kea than Kona and closer to some of the best beaches. It is also at an altitude where you get frequent winds so, if the volcanic smog (VOG) is bad, this area is a good place to be. Finally, the price is quite good for a two bedroom.
We stayed here as two couples (4 people) vacationing for a wedding. This place was PERFECT - the space was great and the distance from the beach was not bad at all. It was actually very nice to stay in a neighborhood as opposed to a resort, we definitely got out to adventure a lot more that way. Just across the street there is a grocery store, an awesome cafe called Lava Java with amazing blended coconut mochas and a full breakfast menu, and a few little casual restaurants. We loved Tres Mex for quick lunch or dinner, and Pueo's had really good pizza. The beach gear provided is in great condition and we took the umbrella and beach chairs everywhere. The condo has lots of ceiling fans (which I prefer over AC), the beds were comfy, and everything was clean. Overall, a great stay at a very reasonable rate.
We booked pretty last minute, and the owners were great with quick responses and details of the stay. We had no problems whatsoever and would definitely stay here again!
Overall our stay here was good. Our daughter enjoyed swimming in the pool daily. The location is central so driving to places is not too far. The beach gear was a huge bonus for us. If the tradewinds are not blowing the condo gets quite hot upstairs and the traffic noise coming from the main road in and out can be annoying with the windows open due to the heat. Overall, a great value and within walking distance to the grocery store.
We had our favorite family vacation ever staying at this condo. It was perfect for our needs with 3 younger children. The location is great being within 20 minutes driving distance of all the best beaches on the island. The condo is well equipped with beach toys and gear. The condo isn't luxurious, but it is clean, spacious, and makes a great base for all of your island adventures. It's hard to imagine finding a better value for your vacation.
We had a great stay in this condo! It has everything you need from a fully equipped kitchen to beach towels, chairs and boogie board. The condo is just minutes from some great beaches (such as Hapuna Beach) and some good snorkeling. Queen's Market place is also minutes away with many choices for dinner out. We had excellent Sushi at the Steak and Sushi restaurant. The unit was clean and neat. It is upstairs so if you have a problem with stairs, it would not be the unit for you. All in all a good stay and we will definitely go back again.
Drive north from airport on Hwy. 19 for 19 miles. Turn right on Waikoloa Road (look for the blue helicopters). Go about 6 miles. Turn left on Paniolo.
