The Summit is ½ mile from one of North Myrtle Beach’s most popular destinations - Barefoot Landing (House of Blues, Alabama Theater, shopping, etc.), which backs up to the Intracoastal waterway. There are also grocery stores and ‘spirit’ stores within a one mile radius. It’s a nice midway point to many other attractions as well, from Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach to Calabash, NC (where you can watch the fishing boats come in with their pier to plate). Windy Hill Beach does not have thru-traffic from other beaches so traffic is minimal and the strip immaculate. An expansive marsh that ebbs and flows with the tide is one block south…great for crabbing and fishing at low tide from either the surf, the rocks or the bridge. You can cook and eat your own ‘catch’ but if you don’t feel like cooking, there are restaurants within walking distance, including the renowned Hamburger Joe’s. A newly renovated children’s park (Virgil Yow Park) is also within walking distance on Windy Hill Rd./46th Ave.
Windy Hill is one of the widest beaches on the entire East Coast, so you can play Football/ Frisbee/Bocce Ball into the evening hours, even at high tide! The shallow 'tide pools' at low tide are perfect for toddlers, allowing adults leisure time without worry. For those seeking more adventure, Atlantic Water Sports (seasonal) is a short walk north along the beach where you can take banana boat rides, para-sail or rent jet skis.
Seasonal lifeguards w/ beach chair and umbrella rentals are directly in front of The Summit, and the resort pool is heated. The private sundeck allows you to catch the rays until sunset, and there are charcoal grills and picnic tables for cookouts.
Me and my family had an amazing time at this beautiful condo. Prior to going on our trip we saw a previous review and were a little worried. We found that many of the areas of concern were not a problem. We had a great view of the beach and plenty of room for the entire family. There is a great view of the beach from the balcony and inside as well. There is a lot of natural light which makes it perfect for that beach feel. The condo building is not super busy as it's a smaller building but it has a great "local" feel. The fixtures and finishing in this condo were great! The owners really put a lot of care into this condo. We were super close to area restaurants and shopping and had plenty of fun times on the beach. This area was great because it wasn't too crowded on the beach and we never had an issue finding a seat at the pool. Thanks for making this family vacation one that we will remember!
Overall the condo was fine but there are a few issues that need to be corrected or disclosed to the renter before signing the contract. When I stay in an oceanfront location, I do so with the expectation of having a clear ocean view. Several of the large oceanfront windows had moisture in between the glass panes. This is very frustrating when you pay for a clear ocean view. Of course we tried cleaning but there was nothing that could be done short of having these windows replaced. Bad deal.
I also expected a larger pool for a building of this size. The pool was small and over crowded much of the time and was not lighted durning night hours. Not a big deal unless you have small kids who want to take a dip after being in the ocean during the day.
And finally, the beds really need to be replaced. We slept on the king and it did not sleep well at all.
On the positive side, we had no problems parking at the building. No long walks or need to park remotely. The kitchen had all the supplies we needed. Nice kitchen table and chairs. Enjoyed a nice size TV as opposed to some rentals. Washer and dryer worked great. Used these every day. Beach was nice but a little small during high tide. And finally the location was very good. In the middle of many nice restaurants and activities.
This could be a great place to stay with a few minor repairs.
I want to let you know how much my brothers, sisters-in-laws and John and I enjoyed our stay last week at your condo! It was perfect for us in every way and we were impressed by the amenities, the decor and comfort provided. The weather was lovely and the beach uncrowded. My family had never been to SC and was impressed by the beach, the Myrtle Beach area and Charleston! We, of course, have the Pacific Ocean in our "neighborhood" and its beautiful, however, not friendly for swimmers!
The listing description was accurate regarding the location. The property was clean and well maintained and included everything that was needed to live there. Any questions or concerns that I had were immediately addressed. The view of the beach and ocean were outstanding. I would recommend this property to everyone.
