We had a wonderful family reunion with 26 family members. The West Coast River Lodge was ideal with plenty for young and old to enjoy. The swimming pool was in constant use and the younger members enjoyed floating down the river to the Lodge. We chartered fishing boats for salmon fishing and enjoyed trips to Tofino and walking amongst 800 year old trees in MacMillan Park.
The Lodge is well equipped and the owners were helpful and responsive and even helped us vacuum seal our salmon catch.
Certainly recommend to other families and would hope to return again.
We enjoyed a wonderful five day family reunion with 19 family members ranging from 4 to 89 years of age, arriving from California, Ohio, Oregon, London, England and Vancouver. This house was perfect for us and met our every need: from the fully equipped kitchen with industrial sized fridge to raucous games of pool and fun in the pool, from the comfortable bedrooms each with their own bathroom to the huge dining room table where we gathered each evening, from the proximity to Tofino and more local lakes to our gracious and helpful hosts, from games of bocci to floating on the river, our stay was wonderful in every respect. We will be back!
Our extended family of 14 (12 adults, ages 50-65, and 2 teens), from various locations across the US, had a wonderful stay at West Coast River Lodge in August. The decor and furnishings of the lodge are beautiful and rustically elegant without being stodgy. The large decks, open dining and living rooms, and private pool are perfect gathering spaces, and the bedrooms are comfortable and quiet. The fact that each bedroom has its own full bath and all are nearly identical in size and furnishing ensured that everyone had comparable accommodations. The kitchen is well organized, and the two ovens and two refrigerators made it easy to stock up and prepare meals for a very large group -- including fantastic Sockeye salmon that we purchased down the road more than once. We all appreciated that the main, very large refrigerator had sliding glass doors, which made it convenient to see what supplies we had...or didn't have. The hosts, Marnie and Sean, are wonderful and were always available whenever we needed assistance or tips. The location is well situated for day trips to Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park. Sprout Lake and Cathedral Grove are a short, easy drive from the house. But we found that we were happy just to stay and enjoy the privacy and comfort of the lodge and the fantastic pool (with plenty of inflatables) much of the week. The West Coast River Lodge was a great find and we highly recommend it.
Finally all the family of 6 children and their spouses and 10 grandchildren and Great Grandma were all happy of my selection at staying at The West Coast River Lodge for a week. The family came in from all over to enjoy a week together and a week in beautiful BC. Our hosts were wonderful and helpful and relaxed. Sean gave me some fishing tips that paid off in catching some Sockeye Salmon in the Alberni inlet. Tasty!! Watching the Eagles daily, feasting on Salmon from the river was a treat. The pool was warm and clean and we all enjoyed our nightly hot tub relaxation in the evenings. Perfect location to do some day trips to Coombs, hiking and biking on the nearby trails. Swimming in the Pacific Ocean at Long Beach and of course clear, clean, Sproat Lake. Everyone wants to return for a repeat but unfortunately it won't be for a couple of years. Can't wait!
The West Coast River Lodge was the perfect place to have our wedding. I would recommend this location to anyone. Marnie, Sean and Matt were above and beyond amazing. We stayed there with family and friends and then held our wedding at their venue. We saw many eagles, there is a beautiful view from every room in the house, and you have easy access to the river. There is a pool with a pool house, BBQ area, a games room , a great bar, with an outstanding kitchen, great decks in different areas across the property, a hot tub, steam room and so much more. Marnie, Sean and Matt treated us like family, and I cannot thank them enough for all they did to make our special day all that it was. The West Coast River Lodge will always have a special place in our hearts and lives.
West Coast River Lodge was the perfect spot for our family gathering! The lodge was clean, comfortable and roomy! All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were a huge bonus. The kitchen and barbecue area were fabulous for all of our home cooked meals, one of which included fresh salmon from Marnie and Sean. The swimming pool was even better and bigger then we imagined, and we often enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The views of the river are priceless, and we saw tons of wildlife (majestic eagles soring and catching fish, water birds, song birds, deer, rabbits, and even a beautiful black bear). We also loved going up-river and riding tubes down the river back to the lodge. The lodge offers tons of space inside and outside! Being in the middle of Vancouver Island was also nice because we were able to go on little day outings to Cathedral Forest, Tofino, Parksville beach, and Cameron Lake. Thanks for a great week-long stay!
