My mother moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 1969 with 3 children and 1 one the way. I was the one on the way. In the fall of 1970, My Uncle Joe, Aunt Jackie and my mother, Nancy, began Shenandoah River Outfitters with two old aluminum canoes and a dream.
Andrea purchased this cabin in 2013
I started Mountain Whisper Cabins in 2005 after purchasing the cabin I grew up in and settling back into the Valley. The Shenandoah Sunset was added to my cabin business in 2013.
The Shenandoah Sunset has spectacular views, and is nestled within walking distance to the Legendary Shenandoah River.
Shenandoah Sunset was the perfect location for our girls weekend. Fabulous view of the mountains from the back deck with a hot tub! We enjoyed a fire in the backyard fire pit each night and had fun roasting marsh mellows (what's a fire without s'mores!). The cabin was very spacious with three good size bedrooms and two full baths ~ plenty of space for the four of us. During the day we enjoyed our kayaking adventure on the Shenandoah River (with the Outfitters) and cooked a big dinner that evening ~ the kitchen was fully equipped. While we we were too busy to turn on the TV, it was nice to have a stereo in the cabin to play our music. We enjoyed our weekend so much that we are planning a return visit soon. We highly recommend Shenandoah Sunset - much more than a cabin, more like a home in the mountains.
Andrea - thank you so much for sharing your little slice of heaven with our family. We had such a wonderful time with our growing family altogether in the beautiful setting of the Shenandoah Mountains. Your place is absolutely wonderful - beautifully decorated.....yet very simple. It made cleaning up and making sure that we had all of our belongings a snap! During the day the families enjoyed adventures in the Shenandoah National Park and evenings were enjoyed back at your house with the family together to enjoy dinner and smores by the campfire. Our 2 year old grandson LOVED the snake and box turtle that we came upon....the turtle was in your yard and the snake we found in the wooded area while looking for a little wood to have a campfire. At one point we saw THREE pileated woodpeckers as well in the trees next to the house. The weekend could not have been any more perfect! Thank you so much:O)
We stayed two night in Shenandoah Sunset in October and had a lovely time. We had young children with us and they loved the cabin and they had plenty of room to run around outside. Everything was as described with everything working perfectly,a s well as being spotless
The cabin was easy to find and it was only a 15 minute drive to Luray town Caverns. In Luray we ate dinner at Artisans Grill and lunched at West Main Market and would recommend both We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cabin to others.
Our family had a wonderful stay here last summer (August 2013). We're still talking about the spacious, modern, comfortable cabin and the fantastic view (while sitting in the relaxing hot tub, of course!). Great attention from Andrea too. Nothing but positives to report - we will most certainly come back!
Great cabin - as seen in pictures. Fantastic view, awesome hot tub and great location to visit Shenandoah park. Thanks to Andrea for being a great host!
Loved the house! Looks exactly like the pictures. Hot tub on the porch was awesome! The fire pit was a lot of fun, too. The view is very pretty. It's a 20 min drive to get to Shennandoah park, which is where we did some hiking. About 10-15 min to Luray, which had some cute places to eat. The house was very nice and reasonably priced for what you get!
One con - a little hard to navigate there at night, but the directions are as good as they can be.
