About Andrea

My mother moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 1969 with 3 children and 1 one the way. I was the one on the way. In the fall of 1970, My Uncle Joe, Aunt Jackie and my mother, Nancy, began Shenandoah River Outfitters with two old aluminum canoes and a dream.

I started Mountain Whisper Cabins in 2005 after purchasing the cabin I grew up in and settling back into the Valley.

Andrea purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Andrea chose Rileyville

The Shenandoah Sunset was added to my cabin business in 2013. My, Uncle Joe, wrote, “[Shenandoah] I dipped my paddle in your life and you refreshed me.” The valley is a place to fill your soul in all the seasons, and I would like to share it with you.

What makes this cabin unique

The Shenandoah Sunset has spectacular views, and is nestled within walking distance to the Legendary Shenandoah River.

Another great weekend away

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Shenandoah Sunset Cabin for a second time recently and it was again a lovely experience. We were treated to one beautiful day of snowfall that all melted before we had to drive home. The cabin is clean and cozy and is a great place to get away. We'll be back!

Beautiful sunsets

  • 5 of 5

We loved the mountain views from the backyard. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed. S’mores by the campfire made this a perfect getaway retreat.

A lovely getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin will quickly become our go-to location for a weekend getaway in the Shenandoah area. It was clean and easy to get to with a lovely view. (It's really nice to go to a place where you can see so many stars at night.)

The fireplace kept the cabin quite cozy, and the hot tub worked well, too! The kitchen has the basics, but do really bring what you need for the weekend in terms of food or specialty cooking items; there are no condiments in the fridge for example. I think the instructions sent have an accurate list of what's provided (ground coffee, for example). The beds are comfortable, and the provided comforters are quite warm.

While there isn't wi-fi, both our Verizon and AT&T cell phones had service (though they worked better in some parts of the house compared to others).

Andrea is a communicative owner who wants to make sure you have you need for a great weekend. We've already booked our next visit!

Lovely view, perfect mountain weather

  • 4 of 5

3 couples stayed here for a weekend getaway! We really enjoyed our time. The cabin has all of the necessities. The beds are comfortable. It is on the east side of the river, so about a 15 minute drive from town and a 30 minute drive from the Shenandoah River Outfitters. It is in a residential community, but we didn't encounter any of the neighbors really. Had nice but unseasonably cool evenings, so we enjoyed the firepit. A larger charcoal grill would have been nice, but we made the small charcoal grill work. We used the hot tub the first night, but when we opened the cover the next day, the water appeared dirty, so we didn't use it again. If they finish the basement of this home, it could really accommodate quite a crew of folks! Overall a nice value for what we paid. Andrea does a nice job with her rentals! OH yes, there wasn't WIFI in this cabin, or if there was, we couldn't get it to work or figure it out. Unfortunately, 1 of the ladies in our group, was having to work remotely for a couple hours and ended up having to use her phone's hot spot.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay! The Shenandoah Sunset is in a small community of other rentals, each home is private, like most cabins in the Shenandoah Valley. The hot tub water was changed, cleaned and sparkling before the guest stay. WIFI is not advertised for this cabin, it may be added in the future. If WIFI is important a guest should rent a cabin that advertises WIFI. Most smart phones with hot spots work fine at the cabin. The Shenandoah Sunset has a spectacular view, is private and beautifully appointed. Andrea

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a small group from California (BWI flight), State college pa and Richmond get together for a weekend in August. The place was very clean and picture perfect! We went tubing on Saturday and cooked all our meals at the house. Andrea communicated via email very well. Thanks so much for a great reunion with friends.

Perfect House for a Girl's Weekend or even a Family Stay

  • 5 of 5

After reviewing a lot of houses in the Shenandoah area for our Girl's Weekend we picked this house because of the location, views, hot tub, and the three queen beds. The house was super clean, nicely decorated, and just as lovely as described! We loved that there were trash bags, toilet paper, dish soap, hand soap, and paper towel provided. We enjoyed the hot tub every night, went hiking off Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Mountains (saw a bear and a rainbow -both amazing), had a spa day and antique shopping in Luray! We loved it so much we plan to make our Girl's Weekend an annual thing, and we plan to come back to the Sunset Cabin.
