—Everyday I write the book— that's how Elvis Costello sings it... And that's exactly the spirit of this splendid spot.
So if you fancy writing your book here —or rather prefer to explore Antwerp; this beauty is located at the very heart of town. Everything is in walking distance —if only you manage to shut the door and leave your cosy nest behind.
'Op Den Spieghel' is situated at a couple footsteps from the Cathedral and Grande-Place; an area known as the ‘Manhattan of the 16th Century’.
About this place
This mini penthouse is recently completely stripped, preciously refurbished and nicely equipped with a selection of tasteful objects and tools to assure you a superb stay.
This fantastic Mini-Penthouse (65 m2) is a fully equipped duplex on the 4th and 5th floor, in the mid of the Antwerp city centre.
An elevator brings you to the 4th floor where you'll find the entrance door to this little birth-nest. What follows is the hallway/vestibule, the toilet, the living/dining room and the kitchen (fully equipped). A comfy sofa and the window benches on both floors provide you a fine view on the surrounding grandeur of the past.
Via the stylish stairway to the 5th floor, you reach the comfortable bedroom (brand new box-spring; queen size) and bathroom (bath/shower, wardrobe and a mirror that makes you look even better then Snow White... =;)).
The whole apartment is at your disposal, since I travel a lot... So when I'm out, you're in. Be my guest!
In case I'm out of town, and you accidentally would have a problem with the heater or whatever... I always have one of my artist (and 'handy') friends around to help you with anything...
‘Op Den Spieghel' is located in the very heart of historical Antwerp —the ‘Manhattan of the 16th Century'. It's an ideal 'base camp' for any kind of expedition, job, or adventure: Museums, churches, art galleries, cafés, restaurants, coffee bars and pretty authentic shops are all within walking distance.
Besides that I can recommend you various superb bakeries and coffee bars in the close neighbourhood, as well as an ultra-polite mini market on the ground floor of your residence —for the last-moment-groceries…
How to get around
Getting here is a piece of cake by train, tram, bus and even car (even though... it's in the heart of town): An underground car parking is at 50 meters, very secure. A bike disposal spot (Velo) is around the corner, as well as the tourist info desk.
Our famous train station, the opera, various theatres, business centres, maker spaces, artist studios… and even the Antwerp harbour is nearby —in case you've a job waiting there.
One more thing: Rent a 'Velo' bike if you prefer to travel fast through town! (Mind the tramways…!)
