Log Cabin with Panoramic Views of Cherry Pond and White Mountains

Bedrooms 2
Space 500 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Newly Constructed Log Cabin, just finished in 2017 on 17 acres with 1200 ft driveway provides privacy and fantastic views of Cherry Pond and from Mt Waumbek to Vermont. The Property abuts the White Mountain National Forest and you can hike out the top of the property to Owls Head and Mt Martha which is about 3.5 miles one way and 1600 ft of elevation change. Owls Head offers fantastic views of the entire presidential range. The 1st floor bedroom has a queen bed, sleeping loft has a queen bed and twin bed. All mattresses are new memory foam mattresses. The sleeping loft is accessed by a ladder, not stairs, so it is not appropriate for children under 5 or people unable to climb a ladder. The Cabin is off the electric grid with solar panels and batteries. One full bathroom with shower and an outdoor shower. Fantastic covered screened in porch to enjoy the views and there is a fire pit area with picnic table that also has fantastic views. Cell phone reception is very good with Verizon and there is 4G and LTE service. The cabin does not have WIFI or a TV. It is meant as a getaway and to get unplugged. During the day, the view is incredible and at night the stars are amazing with almost no light pollution.

In the winter season, it is recommended to have AWD or 4WD vehicles as the driveway is about 1200 ft long uphill with a 10% slope.

About Ben Edgar

Avid Hiker, which is what brought me to this property after hiking in the White Mountains for 25 years. Purchased the 17 acres of land two years ago and built the cabin in the past year on weekends while camping on site. I like to refer to the property as My Side of the Mountain, because of the young adult book by the same name.

Ben Edgar purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Ben Edgar chose Jefferson

You are out in the middle of nature abutting the White Mountain National Forest with no neighbors within view and the closet one is about 0.4 miles.

This newly built cabin is 1200 feet up a gravel driveway and is off grid with a solar electric system with batteries. We have 12 volt LED lighting and AC power for the fridge, hot water heater and outlets. There are also USB charging stations for your phones and tablets. Cell phone reception is very good with Verizon and there is 4G and LTE service. The cabin does not have WIFI or a TV. It is meant as a getaway and to get unplugged. The cabin does have two propane direct vent heaters and a propane stove in the kitchen. The Kitchen does have an undercounter fridge, stove, and large sink, but does not have a microwave or coffee maker. We do have a teapot and french press. We also do not provide a hair dryer.

What makes this cabin unique

There are two mountain bikes, hiking poles, and snow shoes at the cabin. We also have the AMC guidebook and trail maps for the white mountains to borrow and return please. The 20 mile long Presidential Rail Trail bike path is about 1.5 miles from the cabin.

very enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is in a great location and very well equipped with all one could need for a few days stay. Kitchen is very well supplied and owner was kind to leave maple syrup and drinks in the fridge, as well as check on us for additional needs. The ladder does not have rails and may not be suited for younger children; the heating was perfect, electricity was enough even in the snow storm; the surroundings are beautiful. I would recommend this place in any season as there is plenty to do around.

Beautiful and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The property is simple but comfortable and well-equipped. The star of the show, however, was the location, which was incredible. We were not that far from all the necessary amenities, but it felt as though we were out in the wilderness. We did not see another human being, which was exactly how we wanted it. Also, the views were SPECTACULAR. I cannot tell you how relaxed we felt after our stay, it was exactly the break we needed.

If, like us, you enjoy cooking, then the kitchen was small, but definitely up to making nice meals, and we would strongly recommend the Littleton Co-op, about 20 minutes away.

Ben, the owner, was prompt and helpful over e-mail, but never intrusive. He was also kind enough to leave local maple syrup, beer, and cider at the cabin for us, as well as some cute coat hooks fashioned from wood.

We will definitely be back, we absolutely loved our stay here.

Beautiful cabin, amazing view,and private.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great visit at the cabin. The cabin is off the grid so lights are a bit different but more than adequate. Water pressure is light. The view is amazing and difficult to capture the beauty in a photo. The cabin has everything you need and more. My kids loved running around and my husband and I loved not having to keep them quiet. Ben is a perfect host and prompt to answer any questions. We visited Santas Village, Cog Railway, Schilling Beer, and Pondicherry... these were all within 10-20 minute drive so location is great. We are hoping to back again next summer.
