Great location. The house is so unique and spectacular. Room for everyone, great place for friends and family to get together. Easy access to the beach and the water is crystal clear.
From the moment we drove up to this beautiful property we were enchanted. The entrance is grand and inside our family of four found not only luxury and beauty but a gourmet kitchen with all the amenities, a wonderful fireplace to enjoy the evening sunsets. The grounds are beautiful and the view breathtaking. We enjoyed our stay so much that we intend to go back again this year. The girls played tennis every day on the nearby courts and loved spending time in the crystal clear water. We picnicked by the beach and used the outdoor grill almost every night. It is a wonderful spot for a family -- we enjoyed watching movies at night or just reading a book by the fireplace. I would highly recommend this property. The pictures are accurate -- and the master bedroom, which is not pictured has a wonderful view with a balcony. Thank you so much for sharing your retreat with us.
I had booked this retreat for myself and 13 colleagues. from the very beginning, Christina was very unprofessional. An email money transfer was requested for payment, and since our visit was within 90 days of the booking she requested payment in full. I was very hesitant as I had no assurance of the legitimacy of her or this rental. She then sent me three different variations of a contract. None of which had my correct information on it. One of the contracts was made out to my wife (incorrect spelling of her name) who had nothing to do with this booking. Later, she asked me to verify the dates of the money transfer as she had lost it. The next ridiculous thing she did, was tell me the day before our arrival there is to be no outside noise past 10pm, give me a break, it isn't even dark at 10pm, and we would never have booked this place if we knew there was such restrictions, but she had our money and no refunds at this point. Once we arrived, we noticed that there was major water limitations, which we respected. We followed all the other rules posted, we followed the checkout list to a "T" and there was no damage, no garbage left around, basically we followed every rule.....except the noise restrictions. I will admit, we were very loud and the neighbour became extremely angry. This is where Christina decided to change the conditions of the contract and keep my damage deposit. There was never any mention of with holding my deposit due to noise, this is shady, back handed, unprofessional and makes her and this place untrustworthy. So be weary, Christina feels it ok to change the rules as she sees fit, so do not make her mad
This property was booked for three nights to celebrate a 70th birthday with thirteen family members. The location is great with views out over Georgian Bay and the design, furnishings etc. are all fine. Note was duly taken and followed over the warnings posted in every room concerning limitations with the water supply.
However, we had a major issue when on the second evening just before dinner the water ran out completely ; the owner was contacted, expressed her concern and arranged a tanker to fill up the holding tank - but this was the following day nearly 18 hours later - no water for 13 people during this time. Apparently there was a problem with the transfer of water from the well to the holding tank, but this was known before we arrived and suitable arrangements had not been made to manage this as clearly the holding tank was not full. Another issue - and this has been reported by previous users - many drawers in the kitchen ( including the cutlery drawer ) were infested with mice droppings - again a known problem which should have been checked by the cleaner(s) before our arrival.
In mitigation the owner offered us another night but this was impossible due to work/school/travel etc. : she was adamant that no compensatory refund would be given.
When you pay good money for property rentals, there is a realistic expectation that everything will be perfect : yes, things can go wrong in cottage country but it is unacceptable when material deficiencies are known about and insufficient action is taken to rectify them.
So, all in all, it was an unnecessary and frustrating disappointment and I suggest that future renters check on these issues before committing to a stay here.
Christina and her husband were a pleasure to deal with, offering good suggestions to make our possible booking/vacation a smooth process. A beautiful home and would definitely look at booking this location on any other planned vacations to the area.
Our group of 14 booked this lodge for the civic holiday weekend. From the moment we arrived, we were stunned by the beauty of the estate. The grand living room is nicely carpeted and warmly furnished to give a extremely personal and cozy environment. The kitchen have a big island, breakfast bar and a dining table that accomondated our big group during every meal. The outdoors fireplace was very nicely placed in the back yard facing Georgian Bay with ample firewood close by. The house was constructed with solid lumber and is only ten years old.
A short walk down the hill leads into the private beach for this lodge's residents; a boardwalk capable to dock two boats is also close by. This was my first time visiting Lake Huron, and I was completely blown away by how clean the water was - the azure water was so charming we went swimming two days in a row. There is a tennis court for the neighborhood which we used to play soccer with. Even though it was a busy cottage weekend, the neighborhood was very quiet and provided exceptional privacy and quietness. In Toronto I sleep 7 and half an hour doing desk jobs. At this cottage I was able to consistently wake up naturally at 6 am, after full day of physical activity and having slept at midnight the night before, with full energy on all three nights. Being a picky sleeper, the quality mattress and tranquility of the estate was very good to give me some real time off.
The owners were a charm to deal with. I personally visited the lodge twice after the group stay and they were more than happy to have me show the property to my other friends and see the beach. Highly recommended.
We contacted Christina in October of 2014 to inquire about having a small wedding at this property. After visiting the cottage in November, we instantly fell in love with the place and knew it would be the perfect venue for our big day. We got married on August 8th, 2015, and we could not be happier with the way things went. From our first interaction with Christina, her and her husband we accommodating and very helpful in responding to our questions and requests.
The setting for a wedding is absolutely breathtaking, with incredible views overlooking the waters of Georgian Bay. The backyard provides a beautiful setting for guests to mingle and enjoy the surroundings. The entire property is spectacular, starting from the moment you drive up the long drive way.
We stayed here for an entire week with 8 family members without issue, each couple having their own private washroom. The beach is a short drive or a 10-minute walk. Sunsets are incredible at night, either from the cottage or down at the beach. I would strongly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat or considering having a small and intimate wedding. We would be happy to rent this property again in the future and we're already talking about renting it out again next summer or this upcoming winter.
It's a short drive to Horseshoe Mountain where they have facilities for downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. There are lessons available and Nordic and downhill equipment for adults and children may be rented. During summer months there are many outdoor activities available nearby. Golf and tennis. If you're interested in renting snowmobiles, wave runners, etc. most are available for rental in nearby Midland. Just ask the owners and we'll be pleased to give you a referral for whatever will make your family holidays more enjoyable.
