Chess Square Studio 1

Bedrooms Studio
Property type studio
Minimum Stay 30 nights

About the property

When it comes to the best small-space living in Budapest, we think we might have you covered with this studio. It's a third floor apartment on Almássy Square with huge windows that open on to the courtyard below.

The main room is strategically divided to provide a proper living area as well as a dedicated bedroom area. There is also a very large, fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, a full bathroom, for it...a large walk-in closet. A walk-in closet in a studio apartment? Yep. That's how we roll.

Located in Budapest's 7th District, Almássy Square has been a place for friends and family to gather since 1879. It recently underwent major renovations and now ranks as one of the most pleasant parks in central Pest.

In 1913, the city's first public library opened here. Shortly thereafter, József Sipos designed the Art Nouveau building where this studio is located.

In the 1960's, Almássy Square became known as "Chess Square," a place where young and old gathered almost daily to learn and earn the right to take on master players. As part of the recent renovation, many of the concrete tables in the park are topped with chessboards. There's also a playground for kids and a dog run.

In terms of getting around town, it is hard to beat Almássy Square. It is located just two blocks from Erzsébet krt. and the 4/6 Tram line which runs a semi-circle around Pest twenty-four hours a day. The 4/6 connects to all four Metro lines within a few stops of the apartment, but the M2 line at Blaha Lujza Square is just a five minute walk.

The icing on the cake is that one of the best supermarkets in this part of town is located two blocks from the apartment at Erzsébet krt. and Wesselényi St., and the best wine merchant in the city is a five minute stroll.

About Live in Budapest

Almost ten years ago, we turned up in Budapest and immediately fell in love with her. From the architecture to the food to the arts to the amazing white wines, we were enchanted by this beautiful and vibrant city. There was only one drawback - the housing options.

We quickly grew tired of dingy and poorly maintained apartments with...

- tattered bed linens and stained towels.

- hair-clogged drains that hadn't been cleaned in years.

- filthy dishes and inadequate pots, pans and kitchen utensils.

- old, inefficient heaters that created one or two hot spots while leaving the rest of the apartment freezing cold.

- complicated pricing schedules for utilities, insurance, condo fees and other hidden costs above and beyond the advertised monthly rate.

- property managers who were non-responsive to maintenance issues, and who cared little about us until it was time to collect the rent check.

That's why we started Live in Budapest – to provide attractive, clean and well-stocked apartments with great service and attention to detail at an affordable price.

We are not a management company that handles a large volume of apartments for a percentage of the monthly rent. We actually own the properties you see on this website, and our goal with renovating and furnishing each unit was to create a space that we would be happy to live in ourselves. Of course, we have a vested interest in ensuring that our apartments are well maintained, but it is also important to us that our tenants walk away with a positive experience that enhances their time in Budapest, not detracts from it.

We know what it feels like to be a stranger in a strange land, and we know how important it is to have a comfortable and well-appointed home-away-from-home to escape to at the end of each day. That is what we strive to offer in each of our apartments and what you should expect if you rent us.
