Constructed of 6' x 12' hemlock logs and lapside cypress our cabins front the North Toe River in a high mountain valley area at Plumtree surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. These cabins are delightful retreats for a restful and relaxing getaway. From our cypress covered porches you can often see deer, herons, geese and ducks as well as cattle and horses. The river offers good fly fishing, water tubing & kayaking (both provided) and swimming. Several excellent restaurants and five churches grace our community.
Nearby area attractions include 6 golf courses, 3 ski resorts, Bristol Motor Speedway, Roan Mountain State Park, the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Penland School of Crafts, NC Mineral Museum, the Orchard at Altapass, Grandfather Mountain, choose & cut Christmas tree farms, the Blind Squirrel Brewery in Plumtree and much more.
Of course, a visit to nearby Spruce Pine, Banner Elk, Boone or Blowing Rock, to name a few, as well as to Asheville and its Biltmore Estate provide exciting and memorable jaunts.
This is truly a hidden treasure that we fell in love with ! We plugged into nature and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings from sunrise to sunset. Cabin was awesome ..Love , love , love...we will be back !
Where to begin? This cabin is simply marvelous! The setting is absolutely breathtaking and serene, only the sounds and sights of nature. Cows grazing on the hills across the river and horses corralled across the yard! This cabin is extremely well kept and clean, it was the perfect homestead for the two us and the dog! The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen has the all of necessities and the location is perfect if you are there for sightseeing the highlands of NC. We didn't have any luck fishing in the river however we saw others that did. We were there to ride our motorcycles through the area and this cabin had easy access given the mountainous region! I would return in a minute just swing on the porch swing with a coffee in the morning absorbing the views :0) I recommend this place to everyone! The owners are wonderful people, meeting them was a real pleasure! Thanks for everything Natalie and Bill, hope to see you again!
What a great place to stay. My wife and I and our 2 kids really enjoyed our time there! There is tons to do between exploring the acreage, playing in the river (tubing, fishing, etc.) or sightseeing. Very convenient to local attractions. We cooked most of our meals but there were several restaurants nearby, we loved the Blind Squirrel Brewery.
I think the river at the front door was our favorite part. Waking up to the water trickling, swinging while watching the river, breathing the fresh air while overlooking the water - very enjoyable.
We will definitely be booking and coming back again. Great place and owners were very nice and accommodating. WE LOVED IT!!!
WE LOVED THIS LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN! THE CABIN IS BEAUTIFUL, CLEAN AND WELL STOCKED WITH ALL THAT WAS NEEDED FOR OUR STAY. THE CHILDREN WERE SUPER EXCITED TO HAVE THE LOFT TO SLEEP IN AND ENJOYED PLAYING IN THE RIVER. WE ALL HAD FUN FISHING AND ENJOYING THE INCREDIBLE VIEWS. PEACEFUL, SECLUDED AND TRANQUIL BEST DESCRIBE THIS GEM IN PEACHTREE, NC. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK AND HOPE TO MAKE THIS OUR FAMILY SPOT FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY THIS AWESOME PLACE. AND MY CHILDREN WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO LAND THEIR FIRST EVER TROUT, THEY ARE HOOKED NOW. TUBING AND DINNER AT THE TOE RIVER LODGE WERE JUST ICING ON THE CAKE, CAN'T SAY ENOUGH...
What a wonderful vacation!! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our stay at these cabins. The fall scenery was beautiful surrounding by the sounds of the Toe River......couldn't ask for anything more. My husband and brother-in-law enjoyed the trout fishing in the Toe River and I enjoyed the peaceful sounds of the wind chimes on the deck. The location is secluded but close enough to Spruce Pine and Newland to not feel isolated. The cabin is located within an easy drive to Grandfather Mountain. The owner was very friendly and the cabin was very well taken care of. I would recommend this cabin to EVERYONE I meet! We will be back!
This place was awesome! It is right on the Toe river, we could hear the water. Secluded yet close to the tiny town of Plumtree. There is a larger cabin on the property but it was vacant during our stay. The water was high and some deadfall, so we did not try kayaking. We did stick our toes in the Toe (a family tradition since the 1700s.) The cabin is new, yet all of the details feel authentic and well thought out. The loft bedroom has a sturdy ladder, but it may not be good for the elderly or those who get up a lot at night. The owner and manager were more than accomodating in all aspects of the rental. I'd love to come back with a larger group and rent both cabins. Recommendations: Toe River Lodge Restaurant, Linville Falls Winery, Carolina BBQ in Newland, Bread and Loaves(?) in Crossnore, Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock.
