House, 4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths with panoramic view of Little Bay.
If you have ever been to Key Allegro, you know this location is a rarity. Located on two canals and Little Bay, this home easily boasts one of the most spectacular views and locations on Key Allegro. No need to boat or paddle down a canal, here, you can wake up to the gorgeous open water. One of the things we enjoy most about our home is the fabulous swimming opportunities right off of our dock. The warm water and sandy bottom makes it the perfect place for a family swim. There is also a shallow sandbar located directly in front of house where you can raft up, swim and play games. In addition, as our guest, you will have access to the private Key Allegro swimming pool located 5 minutes from the house. To help our guests make the most of their stay, we offer use of our 2 kayaks (1 single and 1 tandem). We are a very short paddle to the Connie Hager birding sanctuary as well as Rockport Beach.
HURRICANE HARVEY UPDATE: Our home was affected by the hurricane, but we were fortunate to only suffer fixable damages. We will spend the next few months getting everything in tip-top shape and will be excited to welcome guests, both old and new, starting May of 2018. Our home will be almost completely remodeled, complete with new paint and floors throughout and 2 new bathrooms. We will be updating our listing with new pictures as soon as possible.
Our new 150 foot dock features a swimming ladder, boat tie-ups and ample space for lounging, fishing, and frequent dolphin sightings. Our home features a spanish-style courtyard entry, where you can sit and relax. On the waterside of the home, there is a large tile veranda, with an 8 person outdoor dining table, several outdoor couches and a porch swing. Rarely a day goes by where you can't experience the spectacular sight and sounds of dolphins playing and passing by the house. It is a birder's paradise.
Enjoy coffee in the mornings and cocktails in the evening while sitting on the porch swing and taking in the breathtaking sunset. The fully equipped kitchen is adjacent to a wet bar and an outdoor dining area where you can enjoy the use of our outdoor grill to prepare your morning catch. Whether you are looking for the perfect place for a family vacation, or a peaceful getaway, this home has it all.
There is wonderful fishing right off the dock where you can catch redfish, trout, and drum, to name a few. For the avid fisherman, you can fish into the night next to the glow of our green fishing light located right off the end of the dock. There is a new fish cleaning station to prepare your day's catch.
This one-of-a-kind home is newly redecorated in beautiful coastal décor and offers sleeping arrangements for 8+ people with down comforters throughout. This four (4) bedroom, three-and-a half (3.5) bath home features an open living & dining area with vaulted ceilings along with a well equipped kitchen The master suite features a king bed with a brand new private bathroom, his and her sinks and a beautiful tile shower. The other 3 bedrooms all have private bathrooms as well. In addition, two of the bedrooms feature sliding glass doors that open up to the large veranda overlooking the bay. This one-floor living makes it a great home for children and elderly.
This house is very special in many ways, but one of the best parts about it is it's unique location right on Little Bay. There are few homes on Key Allegro that can enjoy the openness of being on the bay, and the spectacular views and sunsets that provides. It is our little slice of paradise.

About Ann Hoffert
We are a family, originally from North Dakota, that built this house as a vacation home in 1979. We have been coming here for years, and cherish all of the special memories we have made here. Because we are avid birdwatchers, fishermen, and nature-lovers, this is the perfect place for our family to come spend time together. We especially love sitting on the dock and watching the dolphins pass by and the Pelicans fish. We are excited to share our special home with you and hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.

Wonderful, spacious house!
Beautiful property with gorgeous views. We enjoyed our stay. Our favorite features were the ample living/dining space, the very well stocked kitchen and the views! Definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway on the beautiful gulf coast.
Cockroaches and clutter
This house was infested with cockroaches. These 2-3" creatures were everywhere -- bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, even on the counter tops. We were so grossed out, no one wanted to walk barefoot and no one wanted to be the first to turn the lights on in the morning. By the time an exterminator came out on day 4, we had already stomped out 24 of these monsters. The exterminator said to expect more to emerge. They did. This is the first vacation where I wanted to turn right around and come home. The swimming hole out back was a party cove. Boats pulled up and the people played loud music while standing in 3 feet of water holding beer over their heads. The cupboards and closets were filled with clutter, including food leftover from countless guests. We found an open bag of M&Ms in one bedroom and a glass of moldy liquid in a cupboard. The house is also filled with personal clutter. Lots of "private" areas, family heirlooms, and family photos everywhere, even in the bedrooms. It felt more like house sitting than renting. Despite being on the water, the home offers no water toys or vessels. We brought our own kayaks, but there wasn't a ramp on the property so we had to do a bit of a balance act getting in and out. We did enjoy the kayaking, swimming, and fishing (didn't catch anything). We saw lots of dolphins. That was nice.
Clearly this wasn't my favorite rental. The roaches put a damper on everything. I might have tolerated the other issues, but the roaches had me stressed the whole time. The best part of this property, really, was Oscar, the caretaker. He was awesome and helpful. I wish I could have left a better review. The house is large and the furniture comfortable. And the water view is nice. But that's just not enough to overcome a week's worth of cockroaches.
We are very sorry this renter had a bad experience. This is our family home that we take a lot of pride in, and we aim to make sure each guest as a memorable and special experience. We know seeing cockroaches can be very disturbing, and unfortunately the climate that we live in tends to invite these unwanted guests from time to time. We have exterminators come on a regular basis, but after receiving this review, have arranged for them to come even more often. We live in this home 5 months of the year and have never experienced an outbreak as described, nor have any other guests. We take this very seriously, and its our aim that this never happens again. Because this has been our family home for several decades, we have chosen not eliminate all photos and personal items. We feel this is what makes it feel like a real home, versus a hotel. We don't like clutter either, and have removed anything we consider so, but do feel most of our guests appreciate not having to provide their own condiments and spices. We have a few private areas (one locked closet and the garage), but the rest of the space is available to renters. All of the closets and dresser drawers are empty for renters use. We are, of course, mortified to learn of moldy liquid in one of the cabinets. This is highly unusual, as we have our home professionally and carefully cleaned between each rental. We have brought this to our cleaners attention. If future guests consider bringing or renting a kayak, our new dock has a kayak ramp on the north end of it. There is also a swim ladder which we often use to help get in and out of kayaks. We would love to be able to provide swim toys and kayaks to guests, but because of liability reasons, we unfortunately cannot. There is a kayak rental place right across the bay, however, which can then be paddled right over to the house. Our home is located on Little Bay, which provides excellent swimming opportunities and there is a shallow sandbar area in front of the house where boats occasionally anchor to swim and play. We have always found this to be lively and we enjoy feeling like part of the fun. Very rarely have we ever felt disturbed by the activity or that it was too loud. On the Fourth of July weekend, however, it does attract a lot of boats, as this is where the boat parade and fireworks can be seen. Historically, our family made a point to gather here for that time, as we found it to be one of the best places to experience the 4th.
Very comfortable and lovely views. The 4th of July boat parade and fireworks were a treat.
Perfect stay for great weekend
Everything was excellent from the check-in to the accommodations. The house was beautiful, but for our crew, most of the time was spent out on the back porch and dock. It provided us quick access to fishing in the morning and great time throughout the day for the kids, both little and big. Thanks for a great stay. Look forward to being back again.
One of our best vacations ever!
This was probably one of our best family vacations ever at the coast. The home was amazing inside and out, with more than enough room for our whole family. The view of little Bay was awesome, especially watching the sunset in the evenings. Our kids especially loved swimming in front of the home out on the sandbar. The sand was very soft on your feet and the water was only a few feet deep, very nice! Last but not least the large dock was great for fishing, playing game, and just enjoying the sun. We are planning to have a family vacation here every year. Thanks Ann, we really enjoyed your home.
The guys loved that it was a throw back from early years in life!
