We have lived in the Atlanta area and the North Georgia mountains for all of our twenty three years of married life. We are natives of the Virginia/DC area and North Georgia. We love our North Georgia mountain home, but love to travel and get away.
Cathy Cox-Brakefield purchased this condo in 2008
We began travelling to the Georgia coast at least once a year for business about fifteen years ago. We love the island ambience and the rich history of the area. St. Simons has an abundance of restaurants and activities without all the traffic and hassle of other beach areas. We found our condo and fell in love after looking at many properties all over the island. We love the golf courses at Sea Palms and just walking in the quiet Sea Palms neighborhood. We can also bike to restaurants or the beach with ease on the island trail system.
While other condos might be a bit closer to the beach, we find that the quiet and privacy of our neighborhood outweighs the proximity. We can easily drive to the beach or the Pier Village (or bike) but can come home to our lovely private home looking out into the trees instead of onto the property next door. The Sea Palms West course is conveniently adjacent to the neighborhood, with a walkable and beautiful nine-hole layout. The Sea Palms Fitness Center, a pool, and tennis courts are just across the parking lot. Just across Frederica Road is the main Sea Palms Resort and Conference Center, where a bar, restaurant, pool, and eighteen-hole golf course are located. The ruins of Fort Fredrica and the beautiful Christ Church are just up the road, for history buffs and explorers. Day trips to the other Georgia Coastal islands are highly recommended, especially Jekyll Island, just a short drive away, where you can visit the Millionaires Cottages built by American tycoons in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century as winter getaways. Jekyll also offers abundant golf on public courses and beautiful public beaches, along with a sea turtle exhibit and a water park. You may never want to leave!
St Simon's Island was the perfect spot for us to stop on our drive back to New England from Florida. This condo is tucked away in a quiet golf and tennis community but still close enough to get downtown for great restaurants, shopping and exploring all parts of the Island. We were very comfortable in this clean and well-equipped 2 bedroom condo. Bonus was a little patio to sit outside for an afternoon of sunshine, soaking up the warmth before heading back to cold New England. Not many other condos had a patio, so it was very private. We even used the small grill that was available out on the patio for a light, easy cook-in dinner one night. Our small dog traveled with us and we were so fortunate to find this wonderful spot allows pets, too. Thank you for a lovely stay. We hope to be back next year.
We liked the arrangement of the rooms, and enjoyed walking in the area.
We had a problem with the coffee maker, and after reporting it, had a new one by the end of the day. The people in the area were friendly. Many good restaurants on the island. The trolley tour was excellent and informative. The one suggestion I would make is to have an empty cupboard in the kitchen for the food that we bought.
The home was so inviting from the minute we opened the door. Very nicely decorated with a homey feel. Everything was very comfortable. So much to see and do in the area. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get away with a home away from home.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this condo. It's kinda in the middle of going to the lighthouse and beach area or exploring all the great historical places. Everything you needed in the kitchen was there and everything was clean and neat. We loved the back deck except for the mosquitoes, which is certainly not the home owner's fault. Even though this is a condo, it was very quiet and in a pretty location. Cathy was very friendly and helpful. I would love to come back when we had more time to stay longer!
This was our 5th visit to St Simons over the past 3 years and we have been become avid fans of the island. This property was excellent, and has everything available to make your stay enjoyable. Restaurants, shopping, points of interest and beach time are all literally just minutes away. Special thanks for opening your property to pets. Our pup thanks you as well. Looking forward to our next visit to the island, and this property will be at the top of our list.
We loved where the Condo was Located the atmosphere was a friendly one we over all was surprised at how clean the Condo was when we stepped in and found it well maintained had all the things you needed clean linens, towels, and kitchenware, etc.Every place you need to shop for is there on the Island as stated we found what we needed for our stay. it was home away from home.we loved the Island Neptune Park was awesome Loved the East End of the Beach Old Coast Guard End. the pool at Courtside was well maintained and very clean.we would reserve this Condo again and hope to come back next year or who knows maybe for a visit in the winter i would recommend this Condo to my relatives and friends I give it a rating of 5
Fort Frederica and Christ Church (both heavily influenced by John Wesley, the founder of Methodism) are within minutes of our condo. East Beach is a short drive away with an abudance of sports rentals and excursions both on the ocean side of the island and in the marshes on the inland side. Jekyll Island, the private winter retreat of American's millionaire families such as the Cranes, Goodyears, and Rockefellers, is a short drive away and worth a visit. The view from the bridge to Jekyll of the marshes and islands is spectacular.
