Why Lychee Chiu chose Oahu

LOCATION, CONVENIENCE & SPACE! Only 5 minutes walk to beautiful Waikiki Beach near Duke Kahanamoku statue. Walking distance to Kapiolani Park and zoo. PRIVATE only 4 units per floor. RARE spacious unit, open floor plan with partial view to the ocean and Diamond Head. This property has something for everyone. If you drive, a parking space is provided. If you want to leave the car behind, Oahu has excellent public transportation, giving access to all parts of the island.

What makes this condo unique

This home is simply a place to relax and enjoy outdoor activities. In my case, mainly swimming in the warm Pacific waters, and watching the magical beach sunset.

Our home is not the most modern, but it has everything you will need to relax after a busy day of fun.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here July 2016, we did not have any complaints. The condo is in a great location (a couple of blocks from the beach), there are a few boogie boards to use in the condo. The parking spot will test your parking skills, if you rent a van or a SUV. We would definitely stay there again.

good location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was conveniently located. Easy to get to everything. Two bedrooms and one bath and a half worked for four of us. Would be better with two full baths, but it worked. The description was accurate. The building has only 4 units per floor, so it was not a big crowded building. The security was good with an electronic FOB for front and back building doors and two locks on the apartment door. The balcony was nice to sit on. Easy to walk to ABC stores for the small things you might need. It is a big plus to have an assigned parking included with the rental. I would stay here again.

Owner's Response: Glad you like the condo and the location. We always including complementary parking for our guest cause parking in downtown Waikiki is very expensive and hard to find. Please come back to visit us again soon.

Conveniently located and spacious property

  • 3 of 5

This is a very conveniently located property in the southeastern part of Waikiki, right on Kuhio Avenue, a major thoroughfare. A parking spot for a car is provided, a big plus. The building is secured, as is the elevator. There are 1.5 bathrooms. Two window-mounted a/c units keep the place cool. Washer and dryer are available on every floor, which require coins to operate. Bus stops in either direction along Kuhio are a short distance away, another great convenience. Lots of restaurants are close by. Food Pantry, a supermarket, is only a few blocks away, where you can buy all the necessities and groceries. Perishables can be stored in a modern French door refrigerator. There are also appliances for use, but no automatic dish washer.

We did have complaints. The condo unit itself shows signs of age, which could use upgrading. One of the blinds could not be closed. There are plenty of towels in the linen closet in the main bathroom, but they smelled moldy/mildewy when wet. The handheld shower head was difficult to aim in the cradle because of a dried-out plastic hose and the unit itself was not tightened enough at the wall, which caused water to stream outward onto the floor. We had to supply our own tissue paper and trash liners as there were no extras in the unit. There really isn’t a dining table but rather a small elevated table about a yard square against a wall, barely enough room for 3 people, so we sat on either side of the kitchen counter. The water is not safe to drink for some reason. A warning note indicated that it was not filtered, so we had to buy our own bottled water for drinking. Finally, the pre-arrival process was lackadaisical. When I called the building manager (Maria) a week before, I was told that a text message would be sent to my cell with instructions, but none arrived. I had to call to make arrangements by phone with her when we arrived at Honolulu airport, and even then, I couldn’t get a hold of her. She also did not return a voice mail for an issue we had later. There are also no departure instructions in the unit.

Owner's Response: We just completed the renovation on the kitchen, bathrooms and partial flooring as of April 20. also in the process of improving our check in and check out instruction, as well as other details to improve our guest services. There is no issue with the water system in Haiwaii. I live in the condo and drink the same water as everyone in Haiwaii. There is kettle available if the guests choose to boil water for any reason. Come back to stay with us again on your next vacation! to experience our lovely island😄🌺🌴🏄Cheer, owner

Conveniently located and spacious property but it shows signs of age

Some minor issues but overall a pleasant stay.

  • 3 of 5

Speaking with the owner, she is very kind. Mahalo for your hospitality!

Positives: This place stayed nice and cool 24/7. The a/c and ceiling fans worked so well. After a long hot day, it was soo wonderful to come to a cool house! This place had a nice supply of towels and extra linens in the storage area. Refridgerator was nice and large and it kept our supply of local goodies nice and cool. (You have to turn the fridge temp. down to 34 or it really doesn't get that cold.) The tv is equipped with direct tv and Netflix. Loved that. The place is conveniently located right in the heart of Waikiki, next door to HYS Steakhouse and approximately 400/500 ft. from Mac 24/7! (Ono!) Very convenient.

Negatives: The iron was broken. I could not turn it on and it leaked water on my clothes. I could not iron my clothes. The instructions for checking in was not clear and the person to check in with was not there. I was able to reach her by phone after a few tries and we were finally able to get in and there was nothing written in the condo about checking out (where to leave the keys) so we just left the keys in the condo and locked the front door. I assumed the manager had their own set.

One on the blinds was broken and we could not bring the one set of blinds down. Not a big deal, but I would like to have closed that at night. You could see into the other condo's across the way as I am sure they could see us as well.

Just a slight confusion over which parking space was ours. They said it was written in the parking lot but it was so worn on the ground and peeling, there weren't any numbers to be seen. Again, easily remedied.

Now that I know the process of checking in, I would stay there again.
