About Donald & Mary Boyd, Owners
We are retired university professors with deep connections to the beauty of northern Minnesota. When we moved to Rochester, NY from Minneapolis (in 1989), we kept this cabin because we knew we could never replace it with anything better. We build the original cabin in 1977, remodeled it extensively around 2008, added new appliances around 2013, and have tried to make it an enjoyable place to relax, commune with nature, and restore our "souls." Our local managers are Casey and Jessika, who will be available for your questions and needs during your stay at The Hideaway.

Wonderful Get Away!
The location was prefect, the property was perfect, can not believe how nice it was, and so clean..wow, it had everything we needed and more...we could not have had a better experience.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone who would like a nice, relaxing get away. Even though it rained almost all the time we were there, the cabin was so comfortable, we were able to relax and enjoy our get away. ...Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Great northern Mn vacation spot
We really had a great experience at the Hideaway! It’s a very private spot. The cabin was perfect for our family of 5 and had everything we needed. We really appreciated having access to the fishing boat. We did lots of fishing and also enjoyed our hike through Secnic State Park which was only about a 30 min drive. We would recommend this property!!
We enjoyed our stay at The Hideaway very much! We fished every day, swam, used the canoe, enjoyed the natural beauty and tranquility of the lake. The cabin was so nice and clean, very comfortable and organized. It had everything we needed and more! Would love to return!
Beautiful, spacious cabin
If you want to get away from it all, this is the place !! Quiet and spacious ... just a few steps from a beautiful lake. Fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher !! Loved it !!
A wonderful place to escape "the grid," while enjoying all the benefits Mother Nature has to offer.
In a heart beat I would rent this property again. The property owners were responsive to all logistics prior to property rental, and the property managers, Jessika and Casey took great care of our needs during our stay.
The home was remarkedly clean, very well equipped to suit any cooking preference. Bring your food, your libations and kick back to enjoy a completely restful, relaxing stay.
We were able to locate the fishing "holes" on the lake, so pay special attention to the lake map elevations as that will determine where to fish. Northerns (several +20 inches) blue gill, crappies, were caught (some right at the dock), all released for another day.
You couldn't find a finer place to stay. My highest recommendation.
very great place to stay
awesome cabin on an awesome lake and is very private getaway. plenty of room and nice view of the lake and even has a dock and boat to take out fishing and i must add the fishing is great for pike bass and crappie. thank you for a wonderful place to enjoy my vacation
