New Beachfront Modern Home on Secluded Beach w/hot tub + custom bthrms

Bedrooms 5
Space 3,100 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

When you walk into our house, the din of the traffic on Pacific Coast Highway is absorbed by the soundproof walls. All you are left with is a full view of the ocean, and with the tide coming up under the deck of the main floor, it feels that you are miles out to sea. After taking your shoes off and feeling the soft teak floor on your feet, you might actually start to think you are on the deck of a ship, but as you move through the 11ft glass doors in the living room, the beach appears below you, a reminder that you are safely planted on land.

The house has many amenities you wouldn't find at sea, including 4 full bathrooms, 2 of which have rainhead showers and massaging rocks underfoot. The master bath boasts an ergonomically-shaped bathtub to soak all your cares way. The bathrooms are in short reach of 5 bedrooms that can sleep up to 13 people. The design uses space wisely as each room renders privacy, but doesn't feel cramped.

With private access to the beach you can paddle out to catch a few waves on the private surf break in front of the house, take a kayak for a spin, or just walk along the sand. If you're looking for a more urban adventure, you are only 7 miles from Santa Monica or 1 mile from the Getty Villa, making shopping or sightseeing a short trip. When you're tired and hungry you can head to the hot tub for a quick soak before making dinner in the fully outfitted kitchen. Taking advantage of the kitchen's 2 sinks, 2 ovens, full refrigerator, and beverage fridge, you could feed an entire army if needed. After dinner you can watch the stars while listening to the waves from the top deck, which features a massive patio area with seating and a copper fire pit, and an elevated view of Malibu.

About Haley

I grew up in La Canada, north of downtown Los Angeles, and my family has been in the building business for four generations. I always dreamed of having a place at the beach and I found this property in 2003. I built this house from the ground up, well, actually from way under the ground, up. I really grew to love the unique culture and setting of Malibu. I love bringing my growing family here also.

Haley purchased this house in 2003

Why Haley chose Malibu

We love this spot because it provides us a quiet getaway while within reach of the Palisades, Santa Monica, and Venice. We can spend all day playing in the ocean playground: surfing, kayaking, skimboarding, and stand up paddling.

What makes this house unique

This house is unique because multiple families can stay and they won't feel on top of each other. The sound insulation provides a quiet calm. This house offers a rare beach experience because of the deck overlooking the sand, and the direct access to the beach. Kids can play for hours and the rest of the family can be in and out of the water and the hot tub and everyone can be entertained. We have beach chairs and lounge chairs, too, so you can sit on the dock on the sand and watch the happenings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This house is perfect! I gathered 14 people to celebrate my 40th birthday, and this was the perfect setting. It is even better than the pictures. Haley made the stay welcoming and hassle-free. She thought of everything! The house is spacious with plenty of space for gathering and enough secluded spots for privacy. Entrance is via keypad, so there is no need to coordinate keys with your large group. It is well stocked with everything from towels, beach chairs, kitchen staples, to first aid items. I have literally never been more relaxed. I didn't know it was possible to be this close to the ocean. There were daily sightings of dolphins and seals, and you could see them while lying in bed! You can also see both the sunrise and sunset from the house. This place is paradise. I wept when I left.

We Love Modern Malibu Beach House

  • 5 of 5

This was my family's second stay at the Modern Malibu Beach House. We fell in love the first time and more so this time. Our stay was longer (one week) and we had a great time even though it was warmer back in Chicago. Nothing can ruin a stay there. The views are incredible and the house is massive and peaceful. Huge living room windows, two balconies and a roof top deck - amazing. Thanks for letting us stay again. We would like to stay for a month some time.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this home so much! You can't beat the location and view!

The space was very clean and charming. We loved being located right on the beach. The sound and view of the ocean from the home was truly magical.

The host was so nice and easy to work with. I appreciated her kindness and attention to detail.

I highly recommend this home!

We loved this home! It was the perfect place for our week in Malibu.

  • 5 of 5

My family converged in Malibu for wedding and this was the perfect place for many of us to stay together. Relaxing in the great room watching the waves and dolphins was such a treat. The surf themed art and family photos really give you a connection to the families history in Malibu and SoCal Surf culture.

Decor and furnishings were simple and functional as you would expect in a modern home. The beautiful teak floors required a little extra precaution so as to not scratch them but once everyone understood, it wasn't a problem. The kitchen was well furnished with just about everything you could need and we cooked A LOT while we were there. Really enjoyed having speakers wired throughout the house with a bluetooth receiver so we could stream music from our phones. Owner was great to work with and was quick to answer questions via text or phone.

Only drawback that I don't feel takes away from the rating is that you are right on the Pacific Coast Highway which can be noisy at times, however the ocean on the other side balances it out and covers the noise nicely. Main issue is that it can be a little tricky pulling in and out especially if you rented a Suburban. A plus is that it is like having a rolling car show on the weekends with lots of classic and super cars.

Another plus was that it is really close to LAX, and only took us 35 minutes to get to the airport. Santa Monica Pier was also nearby as well as several public beaches.

In summary, we had a fantastic trip and would absolutely stay here again! We made some wonderful memories in this house and highly recommend it.

Opening the door to this rental home was like WOW! 14 of us stayed here and there was plenty of room. So impressed with the layout and the proximity to the ocean. When the tide is up you feel like you are on a cruise ship. 4 beautiful bathrooms, a large well stocked kitchen, cozy beds, windows allow for plenty of views and light, outdoor balconies and upper deck were perfect! We were here as a family to attend my son's wedding at Point Dume beach and we had such a wonderful time. Never felt crowded. We will be talking about this vacation for weeks! The views of Malibu were EXCEPTIONAL. Haley was very responsive (I didn't need her for anything troublesome-just a package that arrived for someone else). We are already talking about a future family reunion at this home! Definitely top of the list!!!!!

Perfect for our stay in Malibu! We loved this property and it's amenities!

  • 5 of 5

Our son was performing in the Opera at Pepperdine so we had a large group coming in from Missouri. This was the perfect property to sleep all of us as well as enable us to invite others over for dinner prior to the performance. We spent a ton of time on the decks and enjoyed the dolphins swimming by daily! The pirate is an awesome treat too! It's a Beautiful property and one I know we will book again!

Sitting just 7 miles north of Santa Monica, 17 miles from LAX, and within walking distance of Topanga beach. Try Thai Cholada just a few doors up, for excellent thai food. For a morning pastry, hit the Farm Shop in Brentwood, and for lunch or dinner, Malibu Seafood is a must. For ice cream, Sweet Rose Creamery in the Pacific Palisades is great, as is their location in Brentwood.
