Boone House Rental Photos and Description

Beautiful, Energy Star, GREEN 3-story Home Right off Blue Ridge Parkway

You will totally enjoy this beautiful home sitting at an elevation of 3900’ as you relax inside or outside on one of the beautiful decks overlooking Grandfather Mountain, cook in the fully-equipped kitchen, serve drinks at the second level bar, watch movies or your favorite team on the 70” LED/LCD screen in the theatre, or play pool or poker in the game room. Perfectly located between Blowing Rock and Boone with all the attractions, shopping, and excellent restaurants, this 3-story home is located right off the Blue Ridge Parkway in the prestigious Greystone Estates.

The main level offers everything you need, as you enter from the front entrance or 2-car garage into the main living area where a beautiful stone fireplace awaits you, along with a spacious sitting area and extensive deck which offers seating, dining, and grilling - listen closely and you may hear the faint, sweet, whistle from Tweetsie Railroad echoing through the valley below. To the left of the entrance, you will be delighted with the modern kitchen and dining room that would make any gourmet cook happy. To the right, you will find a spacious laundry room , ½ bath, and exquisite master suite, complete with a king size bed, walk-in closet, and bath with a shower for two. The mountain view from the master bedroom will take your breath away!

One level down, the second floor provides a more casual living area adjacent to a magnificent bar with its own full-sized refrigerator and bar sink. A second master suite provides plenty of privacy, complete with king size bed, full bath, walk-in closet, and its own beautiful view of the mountain ranges. You’ll also find a bedroom with 2 twin beds, a bedroom with a queen bed, and a full bathroom on this level. Last, but not least, is the awesome theatre room, where the 70’ LED/LCD flat screen and comfy tiered seating are the main attractions. Enjoy Wii, X-box, or watch a favorite DVD or TV show. Two queen size sleeper sofas are in the theatre room for additional guests or for those who wish to stay up late watching movies and never want to leave.

The third floor will keep you busy at night or should a rainy day keep you indoors. Enjoy the game room’s professional pool table and poker table, grab a board game, a puzzle, or one of the many books lining the bookcases. You can also jump on the treadmill to get in a little walk or jog if you're unable to hit one of the many local trails nearby.

This Energy Star Rated Green Home equipped with high speed WiFi will keep you happy and comfortable in any location!

About Walt and Melany

Why is this house named the 'Flying Pig?' We searched for over 3 years for the perfect mountain home. Certain criteria had to be met & when one thing after another backed us away, we thought we'd never find it. 'When pigs fly we'll get our dream mountain home' we said, over and over again. Finally...the dream came true. You'll love the tasteful flying pigs throughout our home....a reminder that dreams really do come true. Walt spent many hard hours renovating this home to a true ENERGY STAR Specification GREEN home. From the appliances, to HVAC, to spray-foam insulation and sound proofing, you'll be amazed. We hope you'll love it as much as we do!

Walt and Melany purchased this house in 2012

Why Walt and Melany chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

Our location between Blowing Rock and Boone is perfect! You are just minutes to Moses Cone Park and numerous hiking trails, Tanger Outlets and downtown Blowing Rock, Boone, ASU, antique stores, wonderful restaurants, ski slopes, and all the High Country has to offer....IF you want to leave, that is!

What makes this house unique

You will see the most beautiful sunsets from the decks -- you don't want to miss them. A different view of God's art work every single day. You'll probably see a deer, rabbit, or wild turkey in the expansive yard as you're enjoying the upper decks.

Very comfortable way to enjoy the NC mountains

  • 4 of 5

My wife two dogs and I spent two weeks in Walt's NC mountain home. We entertained guests as well, permitting use of the whole house. First and most important, the beds were extremely comfortable. Quiet nights and no morning back aches. I'm a gourmet cook and the kitchen was very serviceable. We cooked six of the 13 nights and a couple of the meals were fairly sophisticated using the kitchen's cookware. The location midway between Blowing Rock and Boone and so close to the Blue Ridge was convenient and the mountain views were as good as those at the Parkway vistas. And the media room with its 72 inch TV was wonderful for evening recovery from our hikes. The dogs loved the deck where they frequently saw deer on the back lawn. All in all a highly enjoyable place to spend a vacation.

Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

There is no other way to describe this beautiful home - perfect location, perfect view, perfect amenities, perfectly decorated and furnished. We enjoyed every moment and the owner is incredibly kind, helpful, available, and easy to work with. We would not hesitate to return! We are very familiar with the area, and this lovely home is a winner. Our three kids loved the theater room, and the kitchen had everything we needed and more. And the house has a very impressive collection of flying pigs!

View, Location, and Accomodations Can't Be Beat

  • 5 of 5

We are friends of the family and a stay at the Flying Pig has become an annual tradition - we LOVE to stay at this beautiful home. The view of Grandfather Mountain is so special and we love sitting on the deck even when it's chilly and enjoying that view. If you're lucky, you'll catch the hoot of an owl or the haunting yet beautiful whistle of the Tweetsie Train! The home is well equipped with everything you need for cooking in and the location is perfectly situated between Blowing Rock and Boone for sight seeing, shopping, and eating out at amazing restaurants. Along with the upper deck and view, we LOVE the sitting area upstairs with the fire place, as well the theatre room and game room on lower levels. And this home is so spacious with plenty of bedroom options for our larger group! It's just a very special place... that Flying Pig!!! And the owners are pretty special too!

Very Nice!

  • 5 of 5

Property and views were fantastic. Home was very spacious and comfortable. Three families stayed for New Years and loved it. Many fun things for kids to do; was a chore just to get them out of the theater room.

Owner was very responsive and had all the bases covered. Was always a phone call/text away and offered many suggestions regarding the area.

An awesome month

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family stayed at the Flying Pig and didn't want to leave. We loved the spaciousness of this home for our group of 10 and family pets. We really enjoyed the cool mornings and sunsets on the deck. We had lots of outside lawn for the kids to play. The house was so well equipped, we had everything we needed.

Our granddaughter picked enough blackberries nearby and made her first pie enjoyed by all! We watched Wimbledon, the championship ladies soccer match, and all of our special photos from the stay on the large screen TV in the theater room. Definitely made unforgettable memories and would stay here again.
