About the property

The Loft is a unique large open floor plan; awesome modernews cabin feel

The Loft is a unique private large 690 s.f. upscale cabin like structure. All of our previous guests have commented that the Loft is much bigger than it appears in pictures, that it exceeded their expectations and is much more charming than any of the pictures depict it. There is a bedroom area with a king bed, a kitchenette area equipped with small appliances, a dining area, a great living room area complete with a gas stove and a futon which converts to a bed, a single bed situated privately in a raised alcove accessed by a ship's ladder and a good sized bathroom with a generous size shower. The Loft has its own private entrance and closets. There is access to a beautiful private beach and lawn with a dock. The Loft has an outdoor grill, complete with a side burner that sits on the large private back deck in the woods, internet, air conditioning and both the back deck and front deck are both accessed by glass french doors which lets in all the light and makes one feel as if one is part of the outside. Enjoy outdoor living on your own expansive deck in the woods or on the lawn at the beach. Swim, kayak, sail or just take in the scenery and watch for the eagles and great blue herons at owners' private lakefront on Goose Pond, a large very clean and beautiful 270 acre lake of which the majority is in preservation. A short walk away (10 minutes) the Appalachian Trail provides great hiking opportunities, you can even walk around the top end of the upper lake or into the infamous Tyringham Valley! The area is spectacular. The Loft is near all of the cultural offerings of the Berkshires: Stockbridge Theatre Festival, Shakespear and Co., Norman Rockwell Museum, Jacob's Pillow, Naumkeg, Kripalu, just to mention a few. Trustees of Reservation hikes are close by too. Fantastic boutique shopping and great cafes are pleasant destinations in area towns. The Premium Outlet Village offers great outlet shopping and is just a 10 minute drive away. There are many great restaurants in the area.

We are on a beautiful lake, in the country but just a short drive to anything that you might wish to do here in the 4 season area of the beautiful Berkshires. The summer offers all of the cultural amenities that the Berkshires if famous for and the lake is warm for swimming. The early summer and fall are also perfect times to visit the Loft and the Berkshires in general. The area is quieter and the scenery is spectacular. Fall foliage on the lake is something not to be misted and the free standing gas stove makes the evenings in the Loft cozy and contributes to a warm and inviting atmosphere. Come and enjoy!

About Gail Puntin

We have lived on Goose Pond all of our adult lives and have raised our children here. My husband actually spent summers here while growing up and has never considered living anywhere else.

What makes this chalet unique

Goose Pond is an incredible lake. We have always been in love with it. Goose Pond consists of 2 lakes connected by a channel. Upper Goose Pond is spectacular and is surrounded by National Park Land while much of Lower Goose Pond is in preservation too. It is a large 'mountain' lake that is very beautiful, clean, quiet and sought after by many especially those who kayak and canoe. Bird watchers will love it here. The bald eagle, great blue heron, osprey, loon and many others are seen almost daily. The lake provides great fishing and is stocked with salmon and trout and has native fish including bass as well. In the fall, the mountains around the lake provide spectacular views as does the hiking available throughout the area.

Near Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow and all Berkshire cultural amenities; 10 minutes to AT for hiking; other hiking nearby; swimming, kayaking and fishing right from Loft; shopping at Premiere Outlets (10 min). Fantastic boutique shopping in all area towns. Great cafes and dining too. Spring is a wonderful time to visit Goose Pond area. The mist from the lake in the morning is gorgeous and it is still a great time to be outdoors and enjoy the beautiful lake and woods surrounding it. Great time of the year for boutique shopping too! The gas stove makes it cozy and the ambience is wonderful

Better than pictured!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Loft. We fished every day from the rowboat and off the private dock, and often took the kayaks out in the evening right before dusk. We caught many fish in the pond using the poles provided by Gail and Tim. The Loft was both beautiful and comfortable, having everything (absolutely everything) you need other than food. Having our own private deck with grill allowed for a weekend full of cooking and scenic views. If you are deciding between places to stay – this is definitely the winner!

It was the perfect escape, thank you for sharing your retreat with us Gail and Tim! We hope to be back soon.

Owner's Response: Just to clarify a frequent misconception: Goose Pond is actually not a pond but a good size lake with the larger lower Goose lake connected by a channel to upper Goose which is a gorgeous lake in preservation. It has rock ledges and sand areas to pull in your kayaks to hang out or swim. The Appalachian Trail has one of its only 2 cabins on this Lake! The book, "A Walk in the Woods" which describes the author's experience walking the Appablation Trail mentions Goose Pond area and the hike from here into Tyringham Valley as one of if not the most beautiful of the entire trail! The water is incredibly clear and clean, perfect for swimming, looking for fish or just floating around.

Getaway Nest on Lovely Goose Pond

  • 5 of 5

Tim and Gail have thought of every detail you might need in this very cozy loft at Goose Pond. This scaled-down lake house comes complete with beach towels and even board games for the inevitable summer thunderstorms. The bed was large and comfortable, bathroom small but totally sufficient, and the Puntins even managed to fit in a living room area and small but very well appointed food prep area. The Loft is campy and perfect for a lake setting - not swanky, just clean and homey. Tim and Gail welcomed us and were immaculate with directions and communications. We were really busy with our family plans, but they showed us around the property, and invited us to use the kayaks - which is a MUST on the placid, delicious waters of Goose Pond. Just a mile from the Appalachian Trail ;closer if you know the secret shortcut...) this is a great rental for outdoorsy people who enjoy hiking, swimming, kayaking and relaxing in nature. While this might not be the spot if you are looking for something "upscale" and the wifi was a bit slow, we were very happy with our stay and would gladly return.

Perfect Berkshires Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation at the Loft on Goose Pond. Gail and Tim were accommodating and friendly hosts. Our favorite part was the private beach on Goose Pond. The water and scenery are beautiful. The Loft is very comfortable, modern, and clean. The location is convenient for all Berkshires activities, such at Tanglewood. We can't wait to return!

Lovely week on Goose Pond

  • 5 of 5

There are many wonderful things about staying in the loft. It is a well designed space with everything one needs. The kitchen is tiny, but it was sufficient for our needs. We used the large gas grill several times. The owners were very friendly and helped out in anyway they could. Our daughter liked the small alcove. It does get hot up there, but fortunately there was airconditioning. The bed is large and very soft. The very best part is spending time on Goose Pond. We used the kayaks almost every day. A few times we went to the very end of Upper Goose Lake Pond which is a nature reserve. One day we took a hike, just down the road, on the Appalachian Trail. The owners have 2 large, but very friendly dogs that were very sweet. The water in the pond was warm. They have a nice little beach. The pond is beautiful, but you cannot see much of it from the loft. You do look out onto either woods or a well kept flower garden.
