A gated community , family friendly and literally a 2 minute walk to the beach.
We enjoyed our stay and found the condo to be fine in many ways. The surrounding grounds were clean and well maintained. The security guards were very friendly and helpful. It was great to be so close to the beach.
When booking the condo we worked with Milton, a friend of the condo owner. Milton was friendly and helpful, however having to go through a third party was a disadvantage in regard to the communication of the return of our security deposit and request for our $60 cleaning fee or a portion of it to be returned based on problems regarding the condo. Milton wrote that he would contact the condo owner regarding the return of our security deposit and possible reimbursement of our cleaning fee due to the issues listed below. However, after several emails, only our security deposit was returned. There was no mention of any reimbursement for the problems we encountered with the condo.
*The condo main entrance door handle came off, due to the two screws that were to hold it in being too short. We called to have it fixed, but as no one came to fix it. We didn't have the needed items to fix it ourselves so we stuffed tissues in the hole to try to keep the mosquitoes out. This didn't seem to work quite as well as planned.
The lock on the porch sliding doors did not work, so the storm shutters had to be kept down when someone wasn't in that area of the condo.
We had to clean black mold off of the refrigerator.
The refrigerator shelves were not level, making it difficult to keep items from sliding/rolling off.
We were informed that a washer/dryer, 2 TVs and a blender were going to be in the condo, however:
The clothes dryer did not work.
The bedroom TV did not work.
There was no blender.
Our family (2 adults and 3 teens) just returned from a wonderful 5-night vacation at this Bosque del Mar condo near Luquillo, PR. We had a great stay, and we have lots of nice things to say about the location and the property.
First, the location is perfect. The condo is literally steps from the beach, and the beach is very nice. We swam every day and the water was a pleasant 78 deg F. The waves ranged from tranquil to exciting (which was nice for the teenagers), and some days there were waves big enough to surf. I know that Luquillo has several popular beaches nearby, but honestly we never felt the need to go anywhere else. The other amenities at Bosque del Mar - tennis court, swimming pool, basketball court, sand soccer field - offered something for everyone and provided lots of opportunities for us to be together as a family. Bosque del Mar is convenient and centrally located: 40 min to San Juan, 10 min to El Yunque, 5-10 min to Luquillo and the food kiosks, and 40 min to Fajardo (bioluminescent bay, boats to Culebra, etc.). Plus we always felt safe there, and we really liked being there on the weekends when the condo had a fun mix of tourist and local families there together.
The property had everything we might need. Air conditioning worked well, though we used it a lot less than we thought we would. The kitchen had most everything you might need, and there's a big grocery store 10 min away, so we cooked dinner for ourselves most nights. The master bedroom was very comfortable. The second bedroom had three twin beds, which were fine for our teenagers. There's a grill and table with chairs on the deck, which was very nice for a morning cup of coffee.
Milton, the property manager, was very responsive to my many questions via email or text. The key was right where he said it would be, so we had no problem getting into the property. He sent detailed information about the condo and the complex that was very helpful too.
In summary, we had a great vacation here and would definitely recommend this condo and Bosque del Mar to our friends.
My family of four stayed at Milton's condo from 12/27/14 to 1/2/15. The condo is great. It has everything you need for a beach vacation from beach towels and chairs to boogie boards and lotion. The condo was beautiful and was well stocked. The location was perfect for us, about 45 mins to Old San Juan, 10 mins to the kiosks, right at the bottom of the El Yunque National Park rainforest. It was very easy to find and everyone there was very friendly.
The grounds are very well cared for. There's plenty to do, tennis/basket ball/soccer courts, there's also a pool and playground. The beach is very close to the back patio and it's a beautiful, natural beach. You can walk in both directions, go to the right and you'll end up at the Wyndham Mar Rio Resort and you'll be glad that you're staying at a nice uncrowded and quiet beach. I think there were four other families on the beach on New Year's Day, most days there were one or two.
If you go to El Yunque, you must stop at Barbakoa for some tacos. It's a small café on 191 with amazing views and great tacos. Also Richies Café is up the hill from the condo and great for sunset drinks. We also ate at the small restaurant at rt 3/968, I forget the name but it's on the right, with an outdoor patio and striped awning. I also recommend the Ceviche Hut at the kiosks, very good yucca mafungo and ceviche of course.
It was our first trip to Puerto Rico. We loved it and will return. We would definitely stay at Milton's condo again. It had everything we needed and Milton was a joy to work with. He quick to respond to all inquires and he also came to our aid when we temporarily misplaced our keys! Two thumbs up, we highly recommend this place.
As a family of 5 we had a spectacular vacation just a few steps from the beach. Condo was clean, two rooms and 2 baths made it very comfortable. I liked being on the ground level with beach view, making breakfast on the terrace something to envy. Get away from that winter and head the the beach as ou family did. We also visited the El Yunque rainforest, truly a wonder of the world and it was a 10 minute drive. I will be returning another yeat as the beach there is enviable.
