Beautiful two bedroom condo cleverly converted to one bedroom to allow for extra space. The extra bedroom area is great for family gatherings, entertaining guests, making your own music. (Guitars provided for musicians.) In the main living room area, just relax, listen to the music, watch TV or plan your next day of snorkeling.

* Second bedroom is fully in tact (minus the separation wall) and away from the main living area, has a pull-out couch; or it can be used as a sitting area.

* Newly added ceiling fans above each bed create a gentle and cool breeze for restful and comfortable sleep.

* Easy access and very few steps. The main reason we liked this condo more than others was that its an end unit. Also, its on the second level but with a staggered elevation. Therefore, its lower than other 2nd floor condos and less stairs to climb!

* Just a short walk to shaded parking and to the pool. Truly the best parking in the entire complex. Your car won't be sizzling hot from being in the sun.

* Gorgeous views, fantastic location and wonderfully designed. The solid construction of the building truly eliminates noise and creates a quite and peaceful home-away-from-home. feeling.

Our Unit, # 205; was recently purchased and we absolutely love the Big Island. We will share the Aloha Spirit with those who want to experience the beauty of Hawaii. We live in Colorado and own the condo here at the Keauhou Akahi. We will quickly respond to your inquiries and invite you to contact us directly with your questions. Why Stan and Trinh chose Kona Coast

Located in the Keauhou Akahi complex just 61/2 miles south of Kailua-Kona and a short walk to Keauhou Bay. The condominiums orientation, elevation and location is perhaps the best in the entire complex. Safely located on the second level with very few steps! The elevation allows for the Mauka and Makai winds to cool the property. Parking is close, convenient and well shaded.

This condo has been renovated and ceiling fans have been installed above each sleeping area. Very comfortable and cool, allowing for restful sleep. Watch for whales during the winter months from our beautiful lanai while enjoying cocktails or meals.

A short 15-20 minute walk will put you on the viewing deck of the Keauhou Sheraton Resort, famed for its Manta Ray viewing. They also have a great Farmers Market and Luau every week.

Walk down the hill to the Keauhou Bay small boat harbor; its the departure point for the Dolphin Watch, Deep Sea fishing, Scuba Diving, Sea Quest tours, Fairwinds II and other chartered boating adventures.

This quaint harbor is home to the famed Kona Kayak Club where avid Kayak adventurists meet every morning. Within a 20 minute walk you could be standing at the Keauhou Place of Refuge, or the Hawaiian Sacred Grounds.

Within a few miles, or short bicycle ride, you're at the famous Kahaluu Beach Park, considered one of the best and safest snorkel beaches in the entire Hawaiian Island Chain. Also known as "Turtle Beach", and just beyond the corral reef this public beach extends to areas famous for boogie boarding, surfing and stand-up paddle boarding.

What makes this condo unique

Our property is located in one of the most desirable area's of Kailua-Kona. All within short distances to restaurants, shops, historic landmarks, scenic overlooks, golf, world class scuba, healthcare and urgent care facilities, grocery stores and a cine-plex movie theater but away from the more populated tourist areas. Our condominium complex is in a smaller, more intimate and quieter setting with 48 units and 78+ parking spots. The property management is on-site and takes immaculate care of the grounds and pool area. Most guests are repeat renters and are like family who will welcome you with "Akahai" and warm Aloha spirit.

Great Family Condo!

We recently stayed at this condo for our family holiday. It was perfect for my husband, myself and our 4 year old daughter. We had plenty of room for all of us and it was a huge bonus having that second bathroom. The condo owners were AMAZING to deal with. I cannot say enough good things about Stan. He was very caring and wanted to be sure our stay was just what we wanted. Having the washer and dryer was a huge bonus for us. The condo was well stocked and well taken care of. The condo cooled off very nicely in the evening which made it great for sleeping. We can't wait to return!

Kona Paradise

My wife and I stayed at this condo for 2 weeks. The condo was super perfect for us with plenty of room. It was clean. Everything worked and there are lots of utensils, pots, etc. It was nice having all the washing supplies provided for the dishwasher and washer/dryer. There was lots of beach supplies as well. The condo is on the second floor but is very sound proof. We never heard anyone below or above us. At night the temperatures cooled down nicely. A gentle breeze flows through the windows. There is lots of parking. The complex is very quiet and well maintained. The lani with table and chairs was great to have supper on or simply view the ocean and awesome sunsets. The kitchen was recently remodelled with granite countertops and we understand more reno's are on the way. The location is excellent, away from the busy part of Kona. Dealing with the owner was awesome. Stan was excellent at replying and answering questions. We had zero problems and would stay here in a heartbeat. For the price, location, accommodations you can't go wrong. We would easily stay here again.

Look elsewhere, needs new furniture and new management

We were there in October for 10 days and the place was not ready to be rented. The kitchen back in October was still the old one (before the remodel) with silverware and cookware well over 20 years old and totally unusable. Furniture in the condo needs to be replaced as the sofa and chairs are so heavily stained you cannot sit on it unless you put a towel over it first. Also condo wasn't properly stocked for day of arrival, no soap, paper towels and so on. No guest expects supplies in the condo for the entire stay but at least for the first 1-2 days. I needed a vacuum as the condo was invested with small gnats. There were no vacuum bags and I looked everywhere including the cleaning lady. No bags were to be found for the 20 year old vacuum. Owner is blaming now us that we didn't look long enough. Owner and cleaning person should know where the supplies are. Cleaning person was so nice to drop off a small handheld vacuum so that we are able to clean up hundreds of gnats every day on the bedding, kitchen and all flooring. Owner charged us 3.5% credit card fee which is not stated in the rental contract (I have read the contract 20 times by now). Owner offered us to refund us the 3.5% fee since the condo wasn't ready for it. We never received the refund and a check was sent 8 weeks ago. Perhaps check was never sent? Overall this was a bad experience. There are nicer condos in the area in the same price range managed by more professional owners. Do your research, you will find nicer condos which will make it a more pleasant vacation.

Owner's Response: As the recent owners, we strive to provide the best value and accommodations for our guests. Additionally, we immediately address issues brought to our attention upon their arrival. We fully disclosed the current condition of the condo prior to Marco's decision to book our home in Keauhou, on the Big Island. As well, these guests were aware remodeling was scheduled after their departure. Other guests who booked vacations prior to our closing in June, and stayed from July through September without complaints. As agreed by ourselves and the sellers, we would honor these previous requests. We left the original photos posted on the VRBO listing in an effort to be truthful and forthcoming about the current condition of the condo prior to the remodeling. The dates unfortunately coincided with the annual Ironman Triathlon and Marco could not find lodging elsewhere. As a courtesy, we discounted the rate and provided our home during the week of Ironman. We were upfront about all additional cleaning fees, taxes and credit card fees. Marco understood that our newly purchased real estate was in need of many upgrades. When he initially inquired about the listing, I had already completed the plans and ordered new cabinets, countertops, carpet, paint and scheduled demolition of the old cabinets, broken furniture and junk removal, de-clutter and general maintenance. Upon his arrival, we received frequent emails and immediately responded to all the requests. From the Mainland, I contacted the cleaning staff and the on-site manager to deliver to supplies they requested. Unfortunately, these guests were unable to locate stockpiled supplies in the storage and laundry areas left behind by the previous owners. Had they looked a bit harder, they would have found vacuum cleaner bags, laundry detergents, soap, trash bags, etc. After their stay, we received additional emails requesting a review of the bill and a return of the "Damage Deposit". I explained we do not charge a "Damage Deposit", but rather a Security Deposit. This is applied towards the balance and secures the dates requested. I agreed to refund the Interchange Fee charged for processing credit cards. A check was mailed to the address Marco provided but it was returned twice because an apartment number was never given to us. They must have received it because it's been cashed. We honestly tried our best to accommodate their needs. We only wish they could have stayed at our place after the work was completed. Mahalo

Perfect Kona Condo

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights. We really enjoyed this condo. There were 2 bathrooms, so we each got our own. The place was nice and clean and the in unit washer/dryer was a huge plus. Great view from the deck, could see the ocean and the sunset. It's more of a 1 bedroom. There's kind of an extra dining room with a pull out sofa that someone can sleep on. The condo is not too far from the white sand beaches, about 30-45 minute drive north. And only a 10-15 minute drive to grocery stores and shops, so very conveniently located. It was really cozy, much better than a hotel. Accurate description and photos. Booking was easy, the owner responded quickly. There were lots of geckos in the complex, as well as pretty flowering trees, and we even saw a pheasant. We would stay here again. Thank you for the lovely accommodations.

Beautiful, comfortable, fair

This condo is on the beautiful grounds of the golf course. Our girls (4 and 6) loved swimming in the small pool that was beautifully maintained and was always all to ourselves! While we were there, Kailua Kona was muggy and hot, so we were thankful for the A/C in the bedroom at night. Our girls ended up sleeping with us on the large King size bed! The condo definitely needs some updating, but all the appliances work and the lower rate per night was worth it to us!

So, what makes the Big Island different than all the other Islands?

Well, all of the Hawaiian Islands are beautiful, and each island has its own character. But the Big Island, is in fact, BIG! You won't feel like your on an island. After a few days on the other islands, many travelers feel trapped, with limited space, and stuck on a small rock in the middle of the ocean. For that quality of space on such a limited amount of land, they are paying a premium.

On the Big Island, one feels a sense of grandeur and vast untouched, natural beauty. It's really quite easy to get away from the crowds, find a secluded beach or go hiking the thousands of miles of trails. Or find a favorite little bistro or a coffee house in "coffee country". The local people here on the Big Island truly embrace the Aloha Spirit and welcome visitors as family. The Big Island and its ecology is the most diverse on the planet, boasting a total of five different bio-zones! Their are jungles, caves, mountains, active volcanoes, cliff diving, white and black sand beaches, coral reefs... too much to see in just one visit.

Hint: Buy a copy of, "Hawaii, The Big Island-Revealed-The Ultimate Guide", by Andrew Doughty. Or when you get to our condo, just borrow a copy off the bookshelf in our family and music room that doubles as a second bedroom.

Its the perfect get-away for a romantic escape, or a family vacation, or the adventure seekers, or for "Snow-birds", .. it's all here and its comfortable, relaxing, clean and quiet. Our "Lani Moku Hale", just above Keauhou Bay, is the perfect year round destination for quality time spent in paradise. If you love the ocean and enjoy snorkeling as much as we do, you'll be able to swim with dolphins, sea turtles or a take a night dive with giant manta rays. The history and culture on the Big Island is beautiful beyond compare.

Don't forget to spend time at one of the many Farmer's Markets to experience the fresh tropical fruits, local gourmet baked goods, artisans and local culture. Of course, just about anywhere you go for seafood is awesome. The cultural diversity of the Islands brings together Polynesian, Asian, Tahitian, Portugese and many different authentic flavors as well.
