Overview

About the property

Sumptuous mansion with private garden, pool and extensive terraces, sleeping 6

This luxury villa has been meticulously refurbished by its architect owner to create a minimalist and contemporary home whilst maintaining the elements and spirit of its original architecture. The house is characterized by the soft Aegean light pouring in through its numerous French doors and large bay windows allowing sea views from almost all rooms. The materials, furnishings and appliances of the house have been carefully chosen and designed. The core of the villa is composed by the spacious and stylish living and dining room area. The living room with its imposing cross-vaulted ceiling has been furnished in a sleek and modern manner in order to create absolute comfort whereas the focus of the dining room is the unique and seemingly endless oak table equally suited to dining, leisure and work. The modern kitchen combines clean lines with maximum functionality. It has views both to the garden and the sea and is connected to the airy breakfast lounge with access to the courtyard.

The garden: The south facing garden is an oasis in its own right with olive and bougainvillea trees encircling the inviting swimming pool. This space provides ample opportunities for both relaxing by the pool and entertaining by the generous and sun-sheltered garden table.

The terraces: From the garden, stone steps lead to the mansion’s roof terraces offering unparalleled 360 degree views of the island and the surrounding Cycladic archipelago. At sunset, the terrace lounge area provides an ideal setting for the aperitivo hour - before hitting the local night scene.

Perfect Everything!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was the best decision we ever made! We stayed in this villa with 2 other couples for a little over a week. The house is in one of the best locations on the island. There is parking for your quads, you can walk a few steps to a bar/restaurant to watch the sunset, or just walk up to your rooftop to see the amazing view. This house is plenty large for a group of 6 and has everything you need. We cooked breakfast everyday before heading out to explore. The plunge pool was perfect for warm afternoons to sit around sunbathing while sipping a cocktail! There is also a market right down the street or countless delicious restaurants just a short walk along the cobblestone path. Johann was so very accommodating and made our arrival and entire trip a success. Thank you Thank you Johann, we WILL be back! If you are reading this....the answer is YES, you should choose this house. You will not regret it!

Excellent House

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the best houses, we have ever stayed in. Excellent renovated with respect for the old house and very well combined with modern design. Everything is high quality and the services and support from the host/owners was excellent. We will for sure come back one day. BR, Fensholt family

Sublime experience!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this fabulous villa together with 3 friends last October.

The villa is located on a square at the very top of the village and from the large terraces you get wonderful views all around the island and also of other neighbouring islands.

The design of the villa is spectacular with extremely high cross-vaulted ceilings and with lovely and very spacious rooms. The bedrooms (we only used two of them) are perfect and the beds are very comfortable.

The bathrooms are also very stylish. The kitchen is very well equipped and nicely laid out together with the lovely breakfast room.

As the weather was still quite summery we used the outside pool almost daily which was great fun and refreshing after some long hikes around the island.

One additional advantage was the easy access to the villa as you get free parking (might get busy during high season though) basically right outside the house in the square and you don’t have to climb any stairs to reach the villa.

The owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with and the housekeeper was so nice and actually did the laundry for us twice!

I would unreservedly recommend this property to any type of traveller and I would love to come back myself!

Imerovigli Villa

  • 5 of 5

The villa was perfect for our family of 4. Kids had their own rooms. Property was clean and had better Wifi than back in the village in the UK!!

Location was perfect, and not in the tourist towns at the other ends of the island. Restaurants were great - whether you opted for a 5* luxury blow the budget or the tiny one tucked away with great food. Views were amazing, but could only see from the top of the villa. Villa is private and not overlooked by the other villas which were perfect and a few steps away is the magnificent views of the bay and great to get a good view of the sunset!

Pool is small but managed to keep a 12 and 14 year old entertained with boomerang selfies!

Local shops are within walking distance for provisions and I do recommend if you can, to hire a boat for a few hours and go round the bay and experience the diving and the view of the island from the other side...... Fab villa, fab holiday and for us 6 days was perfect.

ps The owner Johan was very accommodating with using the villa midweek and not the normal Fri or Sat arrivals..... and always responded with any emails pronto.... Would most definitely recommend !

Tucked away elegance.

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 6 loved our time in this elegant home. It is located in a quiet area just off the beaten track. We all found after an energetic day of exploring (13,000-20,000 steps!) it was delicious to slip away to this quiet, comfortable home. A dip in the pool, reading and relaxing on the roof, in the garden, living room, dining room or breakfast room gave us lots of space for private enjoyment. There are wonderful restaurants, tavernas overlooking the caldera, grocery stores, shopping, bakeries, an ATM and the bus stop all within a short walk. It was nearly perfectly outfitted for our needs. This home was an integral part of our enjoyment of the island. And our host left excellent recommendations, plus arranged for transport to the airport, ferry dock, and responded quickly to our needs. A big plus was a mid-week cleaning with a little complementary laundry service thrown in.

Lovely main rooms - poor value

  • 1 of 5

Very difficult to find - not on any maps and no address provided. Lovely main rooms, especially breakfast room. Bedrooms quickly get too warm to sleep. Main floor bath is connected to town wastewater, and the smell of sewage pervades. We were not able to use that bath the entire trip. Not suited for children. Pool is very tiny (more of a large bath) and surrounded by very fragile marble tiles such that you can't even sit on the side.

Sitting on roof isn't that pleasant - can't see caldera view and quite windy and dusty, without shade.

Basement bedroom and basement bath not connected, so those in that room must travel two staircases to use the loo (main bath too smelly/very tiny). No laundry facility, which us unusual in this expensive a listing.

Owner's Response: I would like to make a few clarifications to this review. The villa is not hard to find if you follow the driving instructions given together with the arrival information. The villa is situated on the highest spot of Imerovigli next to Malteza Church which is the biggest church in the village. No other guest has ever struggled to find our villa previously. I had not brought out our highly efficient fans as the guest was staying in the middle of May when you normally need a duvet at night. Had the guest asked about this I would obviously have told her about their location. The same goes for our washing machine (Miele) which is located in the basement and not hard to find if you ask and also for our terrace umbrella which is also stored in the basement. We as owners are present on the island and if the guest needs anything we will organise this at very short notice. The court yard pool is 4x3 metres. From the terraces by the way, you get a 360 degree view of the island and the surrounding Aegean. I had corresponded with the guest on several occasions during her stay to see that everything was alright and she never mentioned the above issues to me at the time. The guest signalled a smell from the ground floor bathroom and my wife together with one of our technical staff came to the villa within very short notice. They could not detect any smell whatsoever but recleaned the water outlet for good measure. No other guest has ever had any complaints about this before or indeed after. The guest’s perception about our sewage system is completely erroneous and I don’t know what she bases this on. For security reasons we have different systems for the bathrooms but they are certainly not connected to the municipal waste water system!

On the very highest spot of the Caldera rim, on Malteza square in Imerovigli, stands this patrician mansion from the mid 19th century. The village of Imerovigli, perched more than 300 metres above the Aegean Sea, is widely recognised as the most exclusive location on Santorini and a favourite among seasoned travellers. Sheltered from the bustling crowds elsewhere on the island, Imerovigli captures the essence of what Santorini is all about – serenity, tranquillity and a surreal panorama.

Imerovigli is situated some 2 kilometres north of Fira which can be reached via a breathtaking walk along the Caldera. Imerovigli is further some 10 kilometres from the airport and 12 kilometres from the main port.
