Overview

Lake of the Ozarks House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)

The Norton House sits right on the Lake with a breathtaking view of the Big Niangua arm and features hardwood floors and a newly renovated kitchen (2013) with granite countertops, new flat screen televisions and free wi-fi. There are 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths plus two additional queen roll-out sofas. All 3 bedrooms have queen beds.

Enjoy Sugarloaf Vineyards picnic grounds and kayaking, relax on the patio and watch the boating activity, grill your supper or eat out, then let the sound of nature lull you to sleep at night.

The Norton House is located at the Sugarloaf Vineyards west of Camdenton right where the Big Niangua tributary changes from a river to the Lake of the Ozarks. You'll be 'lured' to the Lake where the fishing is amazing for catfish, bass, crappie and walleye. Or play golf at either of two courses, Lake Valley Country club or Old Kinderhook (a Tom Weiskoph signature course).

One of the best features of this property and its sister rental, The Chardonel House, is the easy access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Nestled within the vines of the Sugarloaf Vineyard property you can walk to the Lake shore and enjoy the picnic grounds, fishing, or kayaking activities. You have free access to either a single or tandem kayak for the length of your stay and can pack a nice picnic lunch and your favorite beverages to enjoy while leisurely paddling the Niangua.

No matter what your perception of a perfect vacation is, you won't be disappointed with the relaxation and serene feeling you will have when you leave this refreshing property!

About Barb Morris

Owners are Ward & Barb Morris who moved to the Lake in 1985 and raised our 3 children in one of the most beautiful locales in the U.S.! Barb owned and operated several Lake area restaurants over the past 27 years and enjoys the fine art of cooking and especially, pairing food with wine! Ward takes weekend breaks from his Computer Consulting career to tend to over 1000 grapevines on the property and looks forward each fall to harvest time.

Barb Morris purchased this house in 2000

Why Barb Morris chose Lake of the Ozarks

This property is adjacent to Ward & Barb's home and was purchased to expand the vineyard and now, opening in May of 2013, the Sugarloaf Vineyard Tasting bar with food pairings, occasional music and great friends! Our motto has always been, 'come to our place and we'll treat you like family'!

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the quiet of the Lake and especially the Niangua Arm tributary with it's amazing wildlife. During the month February you can often spot as many as 700 great white Pelicans feeding on Lake fish for as long as 2 weeks as they migrate. This actually inspired the name of one of Sugarloaf Vineyards wines; the White Pelican, a dry white Chardonel. Other birdlife includes the great bald eagle, blue herons, egrets, seagulls, hawks, owls and host of other. In March, you can spot beautiful red foxes siring their new pups and of course, several deer like to walk through the vineyard and eat Ward's grapes (to his chagrin)! It's a great family setting for reunions or to get away from the city.

My Son's Wedding

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful!

We arrived and the cabins where spectacular.

Very spacious, clean, and had all the eminities needed to start our event. We came 800 miles from the Gulf Coast for my son's wedding in Camdenton. The accommodations were very convenient to the venue and easy to find. Loved the cafe/wine tasting area. Very nice. Just wanted to say Thanks to Barb and Ward for making what could have been a very stressful event into a wonderful memory.

Beautiful lakeside home nestled on a hill in a vineyard!

  • 5 of 5

This spacious house features 2 bedrooms on the main floor, each with their own bathroom. The shower in the master is a massive walk-in with beautiful tile work. Towels, shampoo, and soap are provided, as well as a hair dryer.

The roomy kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need-modern appliances, dishwasher, pots and pans, coffee maker- and opens to the dining room and living room. A half-bath is just off the kitchen. There are wood floors throughout the house.

A fully finished walk-out basement also has a queen-sized bed, bathroom, tv, and laundry room.

Outside, there is a fire pit, picnic table and adirondack chairs.

A short walk down the hill leads you to a park where you can use the kayaks on the quiet Niangua arm of the lake. A short walk up the hill takes you to the winery where they have great food, wine, and beer.

The owners, Ward and Barb, are great! We enjoyed our weekend stay and highly recommend The Norton House.

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Norton House for three days and were so impressed with everything! The house was clean and beautifully decorated. We loved the view of the lake from the house, and the outdoor fire pit was perfect! We also loved how close the house was to Haha Tonka State Park and Bridal Cave. My husband and I were able to go kayaking to the nearby cave, and it was such a great adventure for us! Finally, the owners were so kind, leaving us a bottle of wine, and coming down at a moment's notice to help us with the kayaks. We LOVED it here and would love to come back again soon!
