House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)
The Norton House sits right on the Lake with a breathtaking view of the Big Niangua arm and features hardwood floors and a newly renovated kitchen with granite countertops, new flat screen televisions and free wi-fi. There are 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths plus two additional queen roll-out sofas. All 3 bedrooms have queen beds.
Enjoy Sugarloaf Vineyards picnic grounds and kayaking, relax on the patio and watch the boating activity, grill your supper or eat out, then let the sound of nature lull you to sleep at night.
The Norton House is located at the Sugarloaf Vineyards west of Camdenton right where the Big Niangua tributary changes from a river to the Lake of the Ozarks. You'll be 'lured' to the Lake where the fishing is amazing for catfish, bass, crappie and walleye. Or play golf at either of two courses, Lake Valley Country club or Old Kinderhook (a Tom Weiskoph signature course).
One of the best features of this property and its sister rental, The Chardonel House, is the easy access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Nestled within the vines of the Sugarloaf Vineyard property you can walk to the Lake shore and enjoy the picnic grounds, fishing, or kayaking activities. You have free access to 2 kayaks, singles or tandems for the length of your stay and can pack a nice picnic lunch and your favorite beverages to enjoy while leisurely paddling the Niangua.
No matter what your perception of a perfect vacation is, you won't be disappointed with the relaxation and serene feeling you will have when you leave this refreshing property!

About Barb Morris
Owners are Ward & Barb Morris who moved to the Lake in 1985 and raised our 3 children in one of the most beautiful locales in the U.S.! Barb owned and operated several Lake area restaurants over the past 27 years and enjoys the fine art of cooking and especially, pairing food with wine! Ward takes weekend breaks from his Computer Consulting career to tend to over 1000 grapevines on the property and looks forward each fall to harvest time.
Barb Morris purchased this House in 2000
Why Barb Morris chose Warren
This property is adjacent to Ward & Barb's home and was purchased to expand the vineyard and develop the lakeshore picnic area.
What makes this House unique
We fell in love with the quiet of the Lake and especially the Niangua Arm tributary with it's amazing wildlife. During the months of February, March, October & November you can often spot as many as 700 great white Pelicans feeding on Lake fish for as long as 2 weeks as they migrate. This actually inspired the name of one of Sugarloaf Vineyards wines; the White Pelican, a dry white Chardonel. Other birdlife includes the great bald eagle, blue herons, egrets, seagulls, hawks, owls and host of other. In March, you can spot beautiful red foxes siring their new pups and of course, several deer like to walk through the vineyard and eat Ward's grapevines (to his chagrin)! It's a great family setting for reunions or to get away from the city.

Perfect #Momcay getaway
Barb is awesome and accommodated a request from us that she'd never had, and we were thankful for that! She worked with us so we could enjoy our getaway, and our stay was great. I never leave reviews, but we loved our time. It was of course the coldest weekend it's been in a long time, but we loved the sunshine and appreciated the time we had together. The house was updated, and beautiful with great views. We didn't check out the clubhouse, because we were content at the house. We would definitely recommend this location.
We four sisters from various parts of the country enjoyed our 6-day get-together at the Norton House. Barb was easy to work with and responsive to our advance questions. The house, with its open floor plan and comfortable seating, promoted conversation, and the three-and-a-half baths were a total luxury! We enjoy cooking when we get together, so the well-stocked kitchen was appreciated. We took advantage of the easy access to Ha Ha Tonka State Park for daily hikes on its varied trails. We'll have to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the fire pit, kayaks and winery.
Thank you Marilyn! Ha Ha Tonka is a magnificent park with 7 trails, the ruins of the "castle" and the underground spring; I'm glad you had a good time exploring! I hope you have an opportunity to join us again in the summer months and add kayaking to your list of activities! Thanks again, Ward & Barb
Clean, comfy house in a great location
House was clean and comfortable. Plenty of room for our family of four. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils. Bedrooms were plenty big and the beds were comfortable. Location was great...right on the water and just minutes to town, golf, or hiking in the state park. We had a great time and our kids are already asking when we can go back.
Excellent home right on the water
We spent Christmas weekend in the Norton House and had a fabulous time! The house is at the water's edge on a bluff, so there is a very pretty view from all the windows of the lake/Niangua River. The paved road down to the water's edge (a one minute walk) was very easy to walk down and back up. The weather was pretty cold, so we didn't sit around the campfire there, but the campfire spot right on the water is an excellent set-up, very comfortable, big chairs already there. The house itself was cozy yet roomy, and very, very clean. Beautiful kitchen, lots of wood trim, floor and paneling. Beds very comfortable, rooms a nice size. Bathrooms were beautiful too, even soap and shampoo provided just like a first-rate hotel. We prepared all our meals from scratch, which probably isn't typical of most vacationers at least in the summer, and there was plenty of cookware, utensils and dishes (we had to bring our own measuring cups and measuring spoons). Refrigerator was very large. Gerbes grocery store was nearby - great store. We also visited Ha Ha Tonka park (which my daughter dubbed LOL Tonka park) and saw the house ruins and an amazingly gorgeous view. Just amazing! The kitchen, dining and living room layout was perfect for us all to be in the same spot but not in each other's way. We watched Christmas dvds on the big screen tv. I don't think you can do better than this for the perfect vacation house!! The other house, Chardonel, I think it's called, is close by, so if you had a really big family to vacation with, you'd be even more comfortable. We want to come back when the winery is open and also go out on the lake. We all commented on how quiet the area was, although it may be more lively in the warmer months. This was one of our best vacations ever! -Patty
Perfect location with a beautiful view.
The home was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. My family would love to go back in the summer to enjoy all this place has to offer.
Thank you so much Cynthia! I'm glad you and your family enjoyed yourselves and hope you have an opportunity to come back in the summer months when you can swim off the dock or kayak to Onyx Cave! We'll see you again...Ward & Barb
We were looking for something to get away from everyday life for a long holiday weekend and this was the perfect spot! House was clean and the kitchen was well equipped with anything you could possibly need. And the view - hands down it was out of this world! Barb and Ward were wonderful hosts and great resources for what to do in the area. We will for sure be back the next time we can get a long weekend.
