West Glacier House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom/2 Bath (sleeps 4) Home Just Steps Away From Glacier National Park!

YOU ARE RENTING ENTIRE HOME with 2 bedrooms/2 baths. This is one home with multiple entrances for your convenience; you are renting the entire home for your stay. Basically two suites with a hallway door connecting the two suites and a great room for all to gather. This newer vacation home built in 2013 is conveniently located 1 1/2 miles from the town of West Glacier; 2 miles from the entrance gate to Glacier National Park. The home is on a lovely wooded property. When you exit your home to go to the park, you are there within a blink of an eye! Internet and great cell phone service is available at the home.

PLEASE NOTE* The internet speed at the home is .785 MB and all that is available in the West Glacier area for anyone. This speed allows you to watch the Netflix provided and use your devices. However, if you are in need of high speed internet you will find it the farther you get from the park. Hungry Horse, 10 miles away, offers 10MB internet speed. So, you have a trade off as with all things in life. If you want the convenience to be 2 miles from West Glacier Park entrance gate please do not have the expectation of rapid fast internet. This is a remote area, some of the highest peaks of the Continental Divide, and we even have a waiting list for phone/internet lines, so we are very happy to have what we have! The cell phone service works great at the home, but you will not have any cell service in the park.

Geothermal air conditioning or heat is available for your comfort, whatever the season. Plush wine colored leather sofa and love seat provide comfort in the great room. Custom made locally crafted log night stands, with drawers for your personal items, are next to each side of the king size beds. This home is designed with your convenience and privacy in mind - basically two separate suites with their own entrances and baths to accommodate up to four guests in your traveling group. The home is all one level so there are no stairs to traverse, or lofts. Each bedroom has it's own entrance so you can come and go as you please. A hallway door closes off one bedroom and bath from the rest of the home. Your luxury baths include 6 foot tubs with grab bars if you need some extra balance. Premium king size Sealy Posturepedic beds await, ready to provide the rest and comfort you'll need for your exploration of paradise! Bedrooms offer extra deep closets with sliding mirror doors. Each room of the home has a view of the woods and the privacy that surround the home.

There are many restaurants in the area or just cook your own meals in your new kitchen. The large pantry will give you extra space. Enjoy the morning sun from your breakfast table in the separate dining room. When you return from your day of adventure, dine or barbecue with a view of the sunset, relax in the great room, plan your next day from the library showcasing the area, or just kick back and watch the local news or a great movie. Glacier Park is so close you can even return home to prepare lunch or return for a beautiful evening at Lake McDonald after dinner. Take a swim in warm Lake Five nearby or a whitewater trip with any of the raft companies who will give you an unforgettable experience on the river wild! Historic Belton Chalet, the first lodge built near Glacier Park in 1910, is 1 1/2 miles from the home and has incredible fine dining, a great cozy pub, an a warm fireplace to take care of any of those chilly evenings.

CANCELLATIONS AFTER BOOKING COMPLETION

Cancellations must be received in writing for property and dates on page 3 of this agreement. If you cancel, the homeowner will make every attempt to re-book your reservation. If the reservation is re-booked at the same rate, and same days, you will be refunded all monies paid. If the reservation cannot be rebooked for the same rate and same days, you will be charged the difference between the amount of money for which it is rented to the rebooked renter and the full amount you actually paid for the rental reservation, with the balance being returned to you within two weeks after the re-booked renter’s reservation money is received by the homeowner. If the property cannot be rebooked or rented in any way, there will be no refund. If you cancel on or after the first day of the rental period, there will be no refunds for any reason. No credit will be given for shortened stays due to late arrival or early departure for any reason. Regardless of reason or events, if the property cannot be re-booked or re-rented following the above stated process, there will be no refund. Travel insurance protection is available from the same company as the damage protection insurance.

HOUSEKEEPING

When you arrive, the home will be clean and set up with bed linens and bath towels. Garbage bags, coffee filters, bacterial hand soap, dish/dishwasher/laundry soaps are provided. Guests are to provide any paper products such as paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, and personal care items such as body soap, shampoo, lotions, etc. Kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pans, utensils, salt and pepper. Bring your favorite spices.

About Darlene Wagner

I was born in Whitefish, Montana. My family owned and operated the Hungry Horse Motel for 30 years, so I grew up 10 miles from Glacier National Park. What a playground! I purchased this never lived on, densely wooded property in West Glacier in 1994, always having the dream to build a vacation home. Finally! In 2013, West Glacier Vacation Home opened. I hope my dream will be part of your dream!

Why Darlene Wagner chose Glacier Park

I chose this location to build a home on because of it's proximity to Glacier Park. There are so many things to enjoy here seasonally. Ride bikes, walk, or hike on the Going to the Sun Highway in the spring before it is open to vehicles. Spring ski at Logan Pass and be mesmerized. X-C Going to the Sun in the winter and see unbelievable views and quiet that is unsurpassed. I want to share it with you - this area has so much to offer. It is spectacular!

Good Experience

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house in August of 2016. We enjoyed staying in the house. Everything was as advertised and more. I was impressed by the quality of the cabinetry, the interior doors and just about everything. The house is in a good location for exploring the west side of Glacier National Park. The owner has a treasure trove of information in a bookcase regarding the area and Glacier National Park. The park was crowded, but we did everything we wanted to do and were amazed by the scenery and the wildlife we saw.

Look No Further...You're Home!

  • 5 of 5

I started planning this hiking and fishing trip 9 months in advance and Darlene was there to accommodate my needs and questions every step of the way. From the timely communications to providing helpful tips for dining and local attractions, she vastly exceeded my expectations for an owner! Oh, and the cabin was absolutely perfect!

A quick 2 minute drive from the cabin was all it took to hit the west entrance to Glacier National Park, the main attraction. Location notwithstanding, Darlene thought of everything under the sun that we may need within the extremely clean home. The kitchen was stocked with upgraded utensils and pots/pans for those who plan to dine at the cabin. Further, the beds were comfy, the towels were plenty, the literature provided was substantial and she even had dish and laundry soap available. There was even an extra bag of ice left in a freezer! That goes above and beyond in my book!

But most important, the cabin is convenient to most amenities yet completely isolated from everything. There is a neighbor but there is enough distance and foliage for it not to even be an issue. It has all the comforts of home and then some. All in all, a perfect choice for our vacation. I plan to revisit the area next year and hope to stay here again!

I wanna live there!

  • 5 of 5

This is the best place we've ever rented! Not only because of the location -which is just perfect if you want to explore Glacier park- but mostly because it has everything you might ever need. It was such a pleasure coming home (!) to this place after a day of hiking, we wished we could've just stayed there for 2 weeks more. Very spacious, clean, awesome kitchen, and the silence was heavenly (apart from the ocasional Amtrak train in the distance), as was the starry nightsky. Also, the beds were the most comfortable we ever slept in - no kidding.

We didn't get to meet Darlene unfortunately, but the communication was very quick and pleasant. No doubt you're a wonderful person, Darlene, thanks so much for everything! Hope to come back someday.

  • 5 of 5

By far, one of the most beautiful homes we have ever rented. The perfect place to stay if you plan to visit GNP. Located minutes from the West Glacier entrance. Darlene's home is nothing less than gorgeous. Very large and spacious and immaculately clean !!!!

Gourmet kitchen, two large bedrooms with private baths. Large lining room and dining room. Very private, surrounded by woods. We had deer in the yard each mornnig. A wonderful vacation and I would not hesitate to recommend this home and would come back in a heart beat !!!!!

Best VRBO Ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

No other VRBO will ever compare to the West Glacier house that we rented from Darlene! It was located just a few minutes from the entrance to Glacier National Park, so we didn't even think twice about going back in the evening to catch the sunset over Lake McDonald at Apgar. The home, itself, was spotless! I am a clean freak, and this place exceeded my standards, which is quite a difficult task. The two full bathrooms were immaculate. We loved having a full kitchen with brand new appliances, including a dishwasher. It allowed us to have our morning coffee and breakfast, pack a picnic lunch for the daily hike, and come home to make a simple dinner in the evening. It was also great to be able to take hot showers after a long day on the trails or out on the water. There was ample hot water and water pressure for the three of us. We also appreciated having a new washer and dryer; it enabled us to pack a little lighter. The beds were supremely comfortable. Each of the bedrooms also has a ceiling fan, which makes for a very good night's sleep. The internet worked without a hitch, and on a couple of the rainy days, I was quite grateful for wireless access. Darlene is a real gem and was genuinely interested in our having a positive experience at Glacier. Without hesitation, I would recommend her and her home to family and friends. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Your cabin in the woods is located in a private area 1 1/2 miles from West Glacier, entrance to Glacier National Park. You can depart your mountain retreat and walk to restaurants, a bistro, or fine dining at the historic Belton Chalet and Pub. West Glacier offers raft companies, a grocery store, gas stations, and even a post office to send those post cards home. Isaac Walton, sitting on the Continental Divide, is a worthwhile trip on the south side of Glacier Park, featuring a railroad stop, complete with boxcars and a theme pub and restaurant with photos of the rich history surrounding the area. Hungry Horse Dam is only 10 miles from the home; this is the 11th largest dam in the world and is worth seeing. You can actually ride up and down in an elevator inside of the dam itself! Drive over the dam and enter the Bob Marshall Wilderness and the 50 mile long reservoir that holds the snow melt and moisture eventually flowing into the Pacific Ocean. The San Suz Ed is a mile from the cabin, a mainstay in the area, featuring mouthwatering specialties that you will just have to try for yourself. Lake McDonald Lodge is minutes away, so you can listen to the piano bar or take a cruise on the lake that is offered at the Lodge. An easy boardwalk adventure awaits at the Trail of the Cedars.
