THIS condo has been recently purchased and redecorated and you can walk to EVERYTHING, restaurants, shopping, the FARMER'S MARKET for Fresh Fruits and Veggies, Souvenirs etc. Or take the honu express ($2.00 each way) to the best snorkeling beach on the island, 'kahalu'u beach' and the keauhou area which is about 6 miles south of kona.

You can rent and Bikes and mopeds nearby too, if that interests you.

Walk to the kailua pier to go on a snorkeling tour or underwater tour of your choice.

Take a dip in the pool, sit in the hot tub after a long day of shopping or sightseeing and cook your favorite fish on one of the huge barbeque grills.

Nice unit at the funky Islander

Good location and comfortable accommodation at a good price. Save your money and stay at the Islander! Nice clean ground floor unit that opens up to the front lawn. Huge full kitchen and separate bathroom. Murphys bed and pullout sofa take up all the space when out, but when put away, there's tons of floor space. Nice view of the ocean. Ali'i is a busy road, but great for people watching.

The only thing lacking is a more permanent dinning space. There's a coffee table inside and another out on the lanai. This place is perfect for a couple and will work for a family with a small child. 4 adults would be tight. They do charge for early check ins.

If you're unfamiliar with the Islander, do some research. It's a funky little place in the heart of the tourist trap. The location is truly walking distance to shopping, restaurants, pier, etc. The pool is warm. Grounds are clean. People are friendly. All units are not equal, but we've stayed in 2 different flats and were very happy with them both. We also stayed at the Marriot, Sheraton, and Kona Country Club. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Kona Country Club was a good value as well, though away from the downtown area (which we also liked).

Excellent

This was a last minute reservation as my family was purchasing a house in Kona, I was the only one traveling so no need for anything really exotic or fancy. This place fits the bill!...Upon entering, the room smelled clean and refreshing. When opening the slider door, a nice breeze came in and you are right across the street from the ocean, first floor. The room had everything you needed, nice sitting table on the lanai and in the room with a screen separating the bed which was comfortable. The futon type couch had a very nice approx 6 inch foam mattress. If my family of 3 were to stay here this room I would rent. The bathroom was sufficient, but remember this is not a regular sized room, this is a room made into accommodate a kitchen. As you enter the kitchen/bathroom the refrigerator is a good size and the sink is huge. The shower is a good size as well. All the necessities anyone would need is here, the only thing that was missing were coffee filters, but I carry some with me just in case.

At night there is a lot of traffic noise. I slept most nights with the air fan on which muffled the sounds but not bad. Access to the room is excellent as it is to the left just as you enter pass the gate. Parking is at a premium, I had a handicap placard which worked great because there is a stall just outside the room. There are no assigned parking stalls. Remember to immediatly go to the front desk to obtain a park pass. I did see someone checking the cars for their pass and I had just pulled in and the gal saw me place the pass up and she said, "oh good, I was worried," this is great because you don't want the place to be a public parking for those not staying there. I think the furthest I had to park from the unit is 3 parking stalls. Access to the local restaurants is excellent as well. It is walking distance, about 2 minutes, to lava java, great fish tacos, and bongo bens, abc store and in the other direction about a 5 minute walk to the local shopping mall.

The owner Gayle is very prompt in responding to your questions. In fact I may have needed one more night to stay and she quickly responded, as long is it was not booked. I would definitely recommend this to family or friends, fits 2 comfortably and maybe 3 with a child.

Everything was perfect!

This rental was absolutely perfect for my needs. The description and pictures are accurate, and it's true that the location couldn't be better. It's right in the middle of the main drag, Ali'i Drive, so that you can step out and have great cafes, shopping, and things to do on either side of you. The big resorts can't say that. But the condo unit and property are private, safe and quiet. The pool/hot tub area is beautiful. I love that Kona isn't a party town, not over-commercialized so no noise from bars and clubs. If you are a twenty-something looking for nightlife, go to Cancun; Kona isn't for you. (Most places close by 9 or 10 at night.)

My favorite thing about this place was that it's so close to the water that with the sliding door open I literally was able to fall asleep every night and wake up every morning to the beautiful sound of the waves of the ocean. That was heavenly. You will want to spend most of your time on the lanai, because it's lovely. Every day I stepped out to the ocean, beautiful birds and lush greenery on the property. While the units are independently owned there is staff in the front office to help you out with things like calling a cab, and they were terrific, very friendly and helpful. There's a little convenience store and vending machines in the lobby area as well.

The unit is nicely decorated, very clean and has everything you need. It's perfect for someone travelling solo as I was or for a couple, or just two friends as I believe the sofa pulls out to a bed (I didn't need it so I never had it pulled out but I could see that it was a futon, a nice study one, it was very comfortable to sit on.) The kitchenette was also ideal -- most people on vacation aren't preparing big meals so there's no stove -- but you have what you need, dishes/glasses, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, and small refrigerator. (It's bigger than a dorm sized refrigerator but smaller than a full sized one. Just right for a few groceries.)

I loved this place so much I was looking forward to writing a great review. I would recommend it very highly, and it's a great value. if you are looking for a laid back, peaceful environment where you can have fantastic coffee (Daylight Mind was my favorite), great food, beaches, shopping, or just a lovely walk right outside your door, but you don't need a big costly place, this condo is perfect. But please, travellers, don't book EVERY week there because I can't wait to go back! ;-) Thank you so much, Gayle!
