The property features beautiful views, hiking trails, and a small private lake stocked with bass.

The charming brick home is elegantly appointed and furnished. It is surrounded by mature landscaping including specimen trees and shrubs and a formal and very private rock-walled garden that is directly accessible from the home.

We will assist hikers to gain access to the nearby trails and help shuttle vehicles. We can also schedule a certified yoga instructor and or a massage therapist to visit Rose Cottage for private sessions with guests. Sumptuously decorated home w/manicured garden on an idyllic 150-acre horse farm - ideal for adults

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a getaway where we could explore the Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge Parkway, but also relax with his aging mother who has mobility challenges. Rose Cottage was perfect for us. We appreciated that everything was on one floor, and were surprised that the house was so large! Except for the kitchen, which has limited counter space, all other rooms were extremely spacious. We enjoyed having breakfast in the brightly lit sunroom before heading out to Peaks of Otter, Lynchburg and Roanoke, which were all within a 30-minute drive. Evenings were peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Crofton and Patricia were wonderful hosts, welcoming us with treats such as fresh fruit, homemade yogurt and basic staples. They helped us choose the best trails to go on (and even drove us to a trailhead!), and also introduced us to their animals (they run a farm for "mature horses"). This one-floor house is best suited for adults only - there are unique collectibles throughout. We look forward to visiting again!

You won't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

This property far exceeded our expectations. The grounds are stunning, the home is impeccable, and the homeowners are a joy. We were there to visit our daughter and see Lynchburg, but the home was so enchanting we found ourselves wanting to just stay there and enjoy the surroundings. The history of the area, as well as the southern charm of the home and grounds all lend themselves to the most lovely vacation. We can not recommend this property any more highly. Bravo to the homeowners. You have hit the ball out of the park!

A Place and Time to Cherish - OldenAcres Farm is Special!!!

  • 5 of 5

I selected OldenAcres Farm between Lynchburg and Bedford as a place to retreat and celebrate my Father's 90th birthday together. My Father grew up on a farm and routinely reminisces about his life growing up on a farm near Lynchburg in the 1930's and 40's. It was my goal to provide my Father an environment similar to the one he remembers so fondly. He really enjoyed seeing the horses, donkeys, goats and other animals. Beyond the beauty of Central Virginia and the well maintained grounds of the Farm, the Rose Cottage is an incredible venue, it is no mere cottage, but rather a spectacularly designed house with fascinating architectural detail, such as the wonderful detail in the tin ceilings and many wonderful works of art. It is also so clean and well maintained. I felt so at peace at the Rose Cottage, it was very quiet and relaxing. The master bed is so comfortable; I did not want to get up each morning. The stained glass window in the master bath was really unique and beautiful. My Father and I spent hours in the garden and on the front terrace watching the wildlife and the friendly horses. I prepared a number of meals for my Father and other members of my family that stopped by the Farm during our stay. The kitchen had everything necessary to prepare even more complex meals. Patricia and Crofton stocked the refrigerator with local fruit and baked goods, it was truly a pleasant bonus. There are also many good restaurants nearby. I really appreciated the time Patricia took to show me the trail routes and layout of the Farm. Also our hosts welcomed my Father and I to spend time watching the local Blacksmith who made a service call to the stables to shoe one of the horses, named "Tip Top". I stayed at OldenAcres for four days in early Autumn and it was time well spent. My girlfriend and I had a very pleasant sunset walk on a Sunday evening. The countryside was so inviting, the air was fresh and the views of the Blue Ridge and the Peaks of Otter were magnificent, with the sun setting in the background. In Summary, this is a superb place to relax and restore your spirit and soul from the travails of a busy world. The Farm and the Rose Cottage is a very relaxed venue for a honeymoon or any romantic time together. There are so many nice things to say about this spot, but I will save them for my future review. Without a doubt I will return at some near date.
