Amazing home, perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed many times before, and are never disappointed. From the booking process, to arrival and throughout our stay, everything was flawless, and impeccably clean, which is so important. The welcome basket was such a sweet and much appreciated touch.

There is plenty of space for everyone, and the updated kitchen was a pleasure to cook in. Did I mention location? Steps away from one of our favorite beaches in the world. Hui Pu is well stocked with beach chairs, beach toys and towels, everything you need and more.

Thank you for another fantastic stay.

Hui Pu is a fabulous vacation home on the best beach on the Big Island!!

  • 5 of 5

I loved Hui Pu and would definitely stay there again. Five of us stayed there to celebrate my birthday. The property was spotlessly clean when we arrived, and we managed to keep it that way. The listing description does not really do it justice, as the ambience is difficult to capture in photographs. I really felt like I was in Hawaii, as the house is very authentic Hawaiian in its architecture and furnishings. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped and had everything we needed. We grilled fresh fish that we bought at the fish market nearby in Kawaihae Harbor. We ate dinner one night at the large round table under the gazebo, and another night we ate at the small table outside. When it was windy, we ate at the dining room table. We spent most of our time beachcombing on Wailea Beach and snorkeling and swimming in Wailea Bay. The snorkeling was fantastic, and we saw lots of colorful reef fish and green sea turtles every day. We also hiked on the Kahalui trail up to a point where we watched whales breach and enjoyed the spectacular scenery. In my opinion, there is no more perfect location anywhere on the island. I even invented a cocktail made with POG that we named the Hui Pui in honor of Hui Pu! The house is conveniently located near Kawaihae Harbor where we bought our fish and went on a snorkeling trip with Kohala Divers. it is also near the Mauna Kea Hotel, where we went for cocktails and to watch the sunset, and the Mauna Lani and Waikaloa Beach shopping centers, where we did our grocery shopping at Foodland and Island Gourmet Market.

We did have plumbing problems in the downstairs bathroom in the main house, but the management company was extremely responsive and made arrangements to have repairs made as quickly as possible. It is an older home, so the plumbing could use some work, but that was the only negative thing about the house except for something loose that banged against the roof above the master bedroom when it was extremely windy. Once these two issues are addressed, I will be back again to Hui Pu!

Amazing stay at the Polynesian Hideaway!!!1

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend anyone that is planning a relaxing trip to the Big Island to stay at the Polynesian Hideaway. Pictures don't do justice to the serenity and beauty of this home. Location was ideal being right on the beach front with a great swimming/surf beach. My daughters enjoyed snorkeling while I surfed.

I was fortunate to meet Leah (the property manager) as we were packing up to leave and she was so sweet and accommodating. I would rate it six stars for everything it had to offer.

We are coming back!

Lovely beach stay

  • 4 of 5

The location of this house right on the beach with lots of trees was perfect for our two families with children. There was more than enough room for the eight of us. The house felt very Hawaiian, with lots of screen doors and outdoor seating. We were met with a very nice gift basket. The house shows some wear but was very clean. It was just a short drive for shopping, snorkel rental, etc., although we discovered late the house is well stocked with beach gear. The kitchen comes with many unique serving plates we used with the fresh fish we grilled on the deck and ate in the gazebo. In short, we had a great time. Our directions had the wrong house number but the caretaker was easy to reach by phone or text.

We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back to our Puako hideaway. The home is well maintained, stocked with plenty of Kitchen utensils, and beautifully designed. Nothing negative to say about any portion of our stay or booking process. Thank you !!!

private beach front compound

  • 5 of 5

we loved this well appointed, tastefully decorated home! private, yet located right on the beach. we spent many evenings watching the sun set over the ocean while bbq-ing fresh local fish. we were a group of 4 and the house seemed a little empty. next time we will take a group of 6 to 8! having the fully equipped guest house offers the opportunity to spread out! the houses are painted the exact colors of the plentiful little geckos!! the only drawback to staying at hui pu was that we never wanted to leave, which cut back on the sightseeing and adventuring that we had planned to do. the snorkeling was awesome and the unique white sandy beach filled

with trees kept us occupied! the puako general store and foodland had everything we needed and were both close by. the blue hawaiian helicopter tour was amazing and worth leaving the house for! i do wish i had taken my own pillow because i prefer down to synthetic. there was abundant bedding, towels, etc and everything was so clean!
