The Kona Islander Inn has the best location in the village - across Ali'i Drive from the ocean in the heart of the village. It's only a short walk to restaurants, shopping, night life, attractions, and the Farmers Market, where there are fresh fruit, flowers, Kona coffee, and local souvenirs.
This condo is on the second floor above the lobby area in the Hawai'i Building (main). It has been recently remodeled. Everything is in great shape. It is not handicap accessible. There are limited parking places at the condo, available first come first served. Occupancy is 2 adults max or 2 adults with up to 2 children under 18 years of age.
Free local and long distance phone service within the USA and Canada. Unit has secure Wi-Fi with new high speed router.
A patio table and chairs are on the lanai, for enjoying your meals with a view of the garden. The complex is secure, a key operates the pool area and the large clean laundry room.
No personal care products are provided. Other amenities are subject to availability and may change without notice.
I have private WiFi in the unit for you to use. Large gas fired grills help with a great BBQ. On premise laundry facilities are available all the time. A functional kitchenette with handmade cabinets and stainless steel sinks is included. Also find a refrigerator/ freezer, water filtration, microwave, convection oven, blender, coffee maker and grinder rice cooker, toaster, and dishes. Plenty of towels are ready for you in our updated shower area.
The unit easily sleeps 2, and up to 4 persons can sleep with use of the included extra bed. We do not charge additionally for air conditioning use but encourage you to 'Think Green' and use power wisely. Other amenities include cable, flat screen TV, DVD player, and art adorning the walls.
A reminder: the County of Hawaii no longer allows plastic 'one use' shopping bags, so we provide you with a reusable tote as a reminder of your stay.
I live on the island, and my local caretaker are only a phone call away. Check-in and check-out are a snap.

My condo is a reminder of the earlier years in Hawaiian tourism. Immaculate gardens and pool area are the best in the village. You are within walking distance to village services, shops and numerous restaurants. One of only three royal palaces in the U.S. is just a couple blocks away.
Located in a lush tropical setting, the condo reminds us of old Hawaiian territorial style. Enjoy basking in the Hawaiian sun at the pool or hot tub, or just across the street at the beach areas. There is also a spa on site. Full laundry facilities are located on site for your convenience. The property is centrally located and is a great starting/ ending location for all your site seeing trips. You can buy great Hawaiian fresh fruits at the near by farmers market.

The property was beautiful with all the flowers and plants and trees. Pool very nice and clean. Mr gahagan's condo was stale and dirty there was food left in microwave.nothing seemed to be cleaned. You. Couldn't stay out late or you had to. Park on street not enough ...ifparking if.you have a rented. Car you don't want it on the street. The parking problem would not. Make me want to stay there again. Mr gahagan' need a new bed. Condo needs to be worked on and steam cleaned. Good location if you plan on staying check it out really good .i expected daily cleaning none at all.you do it yourself. This is not a Hotel people .beware!!
The property had everything I needed for a small time away to recharge and regroup. It's perfect for 1 or 2 people, anymore and you'd be stepping on each other. Walking distance to everything. The owners and care takers were pleasant and helpful. The only thing I would request would be to have a beach chair or chairs available to guest on hand during their stay, other than that... perfect.
We would absolutely recommend Larry's unit @ the Kona Islander Inn; and Cathe the point of contact during your stay is always just a phone call away. She is very helpful and has a cooler or extra fan if you need. We would suggest that if your departing Hawaii on a red eye flight ( those leaving later at night ) that you book the unit for that extra day as we do. Some of the people we became friends with had to checkout of their units at 11am but their flight didn't leave until 10/11 etc at night - making for a very long day, with no where to be, and relax before a very long return trip home. Having the unit during this time allows for an easy day to prepare, pack, unwind at the pool, take walk or a nap, and shower before heading to the airport. Red eye flights are hard enough; and unbearable if you spend your last day tied to your rental car or sitting at a park waiting to go to the airport. We felt really bad for those who were unable to get a room for the day or had to jump through hoops to get one. So make your last day an easy relaxing day if your on a red eye flight and book that extra day when you reserve the room. Hope this helps... best regards & safe / enjoyable travels.
We loved staying at this little condo. We were immediately charmed by the 'Old Hawaii' style of the lobby. The pool and grounds are maintained daily, and a lovely path through lush vegetation leads right to shopping, dining and ocean access. Though the studio is small, it has everything we needed. Between the appliances inside and the barbecues by the pool we cooked what and when we wanted. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to the island.
Great location, small pool, poor parking (50 spaces for 150 units), unit was clean and well maintained, very small kitchenette but we ate out mostly, grounds were well maintained and the hotel staff was very friendly. No coolers or chairs for the beach but they did have a broom and a vacuum and some spare shopping bags.
This condo was perfectly located if you are looking to be near the Kona action and within easy driving distance of lots of great places at an affordable price. The condo was spottlessly clean, pleasant and well equipped, The complex was clean with basic amenities. Shopping and restaurants were within easy walking distance. The property manager went above and beyond, helping us at 9 pm on Saturday when we got lost and bringing us fresh flowers during the week. I'd recommend it highly!
The Big Island of Hawai'i is known for adventure ranging from whale watching to mountain climbing, and there are gorgeous beaches where you can soak up some sun too. The Kona Coast stretches for more than 60 miles on the western side of the island. Beyond its historical significance, special coffee, and opportunities for water sports, there are also some great beaches that will make you want to put your feet up and stay awhile.
