Read our reviews. Not only do we have the best homes in Costa Rica, we have the best employees. They love what they do and they will do everything in there power to insure you have an awesome vacation.
If Casa Espana is booked for your dates check out our other properties, Casa Overlook, The Penthouse and Casa Zocalo on RentRica.com. RentRica is a HomeAway Premier Partner. We book exclusively on HomeAway/VRBO.
Although I think our homes are the best there is to offer, I also believe it is the level of service we provide that separates us from the others. Many of the properties you see listed are managed by brokers or agents. If you book with us you will be interacting with just Katherine, Maricela and myself. And we are available to you for anything at any time. We will help you book your tours, rent your car, get you directions to the house or anywhere else.
If the dates you need are only partially available, contact me. I may be able to put you in one house for part of your stay and the other for the rest.
Casa Espana, is 4 minutes and 25 seconds from the beach, 9 minutes from downtown Jaco and 1 hour, fifteen minutes from the San Jose (SJO) airport. It is in a small quiet, gated community called Opera Salvaje in Playa Hermosa. The house is secluded, has it's own gate, a large pool and is equipped like a luxury home in the US would be.
There are two buildings. The main house has 4 bedrooms on 3 levels with 4 full bathrooms. The guesthouse has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. One of the bedrooms is actually 2 rooms. The pool is beautiful and big. There is a jacuzzi, pool bathroom, and a big yard. This is the perfect place for that family gathering you have been dreaming about.
The house is spacious, with a large open living, kitchen dining area, a banquet table for 12, and a second table for 4. There is an indoor waterfall, high-speed wireless Internet throughout, cable TV, Netflix and ice cold AC throughout the entire property. You will have all the amenities of home while living in the jungles of Central America.
The kitchen is very well equipped. There is a real espresso machine, dishwasher, gas stove and oven, a large island and plenty of room to cook up a storm. We have installed 5 stage reverse osmosis water filter systems for drinking water in all four of our properties. You won't find better tasting, safer water anywhere.
I bought the absolute best mattresses and pillows. We brought high thread count sheets from the US. Nothing ruins a great vacation faster than a bad nights sleep. No expense has been spared anywhere on either of these homes. My accountant can attest to that :)
Here are some of the activities nearby:
Zip Lining - 20 minutes to the North in Los Suenos
Horseback riding 15 minutes away
Surfing Lessons in Jaco just 9 Minutes away
Manuel Antonio National Park (guaranteed Monkies) 50 minutes to the South.
ATV Rides 9 Minutes Away
River Rafting 50 minutes to the South
Golf 20 MInutes North
There is so much more. If there is anything you are interested in that I didn't mention, just ask.
Getting Here: We are a 75-minute drive from the San Jose airport. DO NOT fly into Limon. Many times people make that mistake. Limon is on the North East Coast. All the cool stuff (well most of it) is on the Pacific side. You do not want to go to Limon. You can rent a car from Vamos in San Jose and drive yourself. It is highway all the way. I will give you coordinates to the house and you can get here with Google maps. I'll even show you how to download the maps in advance so you don't use data along the way. If you aren't comfortable driving here we can arrange a transport for you. Once you are in Jaco we can help you get a rental car.
Do I need a car? There is so much to see and do in every direction you are going to want to have vehicles. Yes, there are plenty of cabs and sure, we can arrange transportation to anything but I think you will love driving around here. We drive on the same side of the road as you do and it is easy to find your way around. Drivers are courteous and the roads are relatively safe and mostly paved.
Money: The local currency is colones. There are 560 colones to a US dollar. You don't need colones. You can use dollars everywhere. If you want colones the cheapest way to get them is out of the ATM. Don't go to any of the currency exchange booths. And don't buy colones from your bank in the US. You will get charged 10% or more with either of those. Cash is king in Costa Rica. Restaurants will take credit cards (usually) but Taxi rides, massages, and many other small purchases must be made in cash. If the power goes out no one can take credit cards. So keep some cash reserves.
Language: About half the people in Jaco speak English. Every restaurant, store and tour operator has English speaking employees. Costa Ricans are extremely friendly. They will help you with your Spanish. Maybe a cram course on Duoling.com before you go will help :)
Communication: You can call me at any time. My personal cell phone is listed here with HomeAway. If you are coming to Costa Rica it is best to create a WhatsApp account. This is how most of Central America, Mexico, and Europe communicate. It's free. You can talk with Maricela before and during your trip. Message or call her with WhatsApp for everything from a dinner reservation to a masseuse to come to the house. She will make dinner reservations for you, arrange transportation, book your tours and whatever else you need. Think of Maricela as your personal Concierge. Just don't forget to tip her before you leave ;)
Is It Safe? Yes. It is as safe in Costa Rica as it is in the US. There is no place in the world that has zero crime. Use common sense and you will be safe. Don't walk on the beach alone at night, mind your own business, watch out for riptides and don't stand under coconut trees or swim in the Tercoles River with the Crocodiles and you will be just fine.
Is this the right place for you? I picked this area and these homes very carefully. Even if you don't rent from me, this is the area you want to stay in. There are lots of places in Costa Rica that look good on the internet. And most of them are as beautiful as the pictures. But even though Costa Rica is a small country it can take a long time to get from one place to another. I looked at lots of locations. Many of the areas that try to attract your tourism dollars are in the middle of nowhere. Playa Hermosa is perfect. It's minutes from Jaco but away from the chaos. You have dozens of restaurants to choose from, loads of night life, a fancy casino and every activity imaginable a short ride away. There is live music at the Green Room in Jaco every night. And it's all right here on the Pacific ocean. I don't mean to knock the other side of the country but the Caribbean (anywhere) is nothing compared to the Pacific.
If you have any questions about travel to Costa Rica I am happy to answer them.
We host families, friends, and company get togethers. This is a luxury home within a gated community. It's not for bachelor parties. Only the guests registered with us, and the guards at the gate are allowed on the property.
Need help with transportation? No problem. I can help you book round trip transportation with a licensed company in a new, safe vehicle. Just ask.
