|Minimum Stay||5 nights|
Our family has vacationed in Kona for over 35 years. Every year we make sure we stay at the Keauhou Punahele Condos. Kailua-Kona and the Keauhou area have truly become our second home. We purchased this unit after staying in it ourselves because it is a first class unit, and the location is optimal with a great view and soft ocean breeze. We are happy to share this Hawaiian experience with you.
The Keauhou Punahele condos are well-maintained and are constructed of concrete, allowing for a quiet environment. The whole complex is fairly small, so there are not a lot of crowds, traffic, or noise. It has been our experience that visitors that stay here like to return because it has a small family atmosphere. There are many repeat visitors, owners, and long term vacationers.
This location is ideal. They are the last condos along Alii drive, surrounded by The Kona Country Club Golf Course, and the Keauhou Pier which is the launching point of many wonderful excursions. You will see turtles swimming in this bay as well as kayakers and stand up paddle boarders (boards & kayaks are available to rent for a small fee). Because they are the last units, you won’t get much car traffic, and there are great places to walk, bike, or jog in both directions. Although these units are not on the water, a very short walk takes you to the sea side to watch beautiful sunsets. They are also just a short walk to the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa where you will watch manta rays feeding at night, while dining and listening to live music at the ocean side Rays on the Bay restaurant.
This 1200 sq ft. unit has a prime location in the center of the complex. Parking is never a problem as your private spot is at your door and is free to you. The view from this unit is ideal. It overlooks the pool without the noise. This unit faces the Pacific Ocean, creating a stunning backdrop to lush palms and crystal pool. One of our favorite attributes is the tree that is located right outside the master bedroom lanai. We get to see and hear the birds chirping, as well as various geckos climbing around. This unit has been meticulously kept up over the years and will truly feel like your home away from home as it did for us.
The master bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed with access to the lanai, and ocean views. This allows for a great breeze during the day or night. The master bath is beautiful after a recent remodel with tile counter tops, a block shower stall, and a walk-in closet.
The second bedroom has two single beds, a dresser to store clothes, and a large closet. The second bath has a recently remodeled vanity, along with a full shower, and brand new full sized washer and dryer and all laundry/cleaning necessities.
Enjoy a spacious living area with cozy, contemporary couches, and a large high-definition flat screen TV in living room and the master bedroom with cable, and free wifi for internet needs. The living area opens up to the lanai adding to the enjoyment of your morning Kona coffee or evening Mai Tai while enjoying the evening breeze, chirping birds, and the striking sunsets. The long Lanai has lounge chairs, a new bistro style table to relax at, and a barbecue for grilling your favorite local fish or meat. This complex is one of few places in the area that allows grilling on your own lanai.
The remodeled kitchen includes new cabinets, granite counter tops and tile flooring. Brand new stainless steel appliances, sink and faucet were recently installed on July of 2014. It has all the amenities one needs. There is also a bar area with two teak bar stools facing the lanai to be able to enjoy your morning coffee inside with the same amazing views. All areas of this condo have ceiling fans to keep you cool.
Just a few steps away from this unit, enjoy the quiet gated swimming pool and Jacuzzi area, which also has a “log house” for your shaded needs as well as day and evening social gatherings. Bathrooms and shower are available at the pool as well.
Keauhou Punahele (Keauhou area) is nicely located away from the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to walk to the Keauhou Shopping Center which has restaurants, Keauhou Cinemas, KTA grocery store (ATM inside), Long’s Drugs, US Post Office, and an Urgent Care medical facility to name a few. There is also a tennis complex next door with numerous rental courts and equipment.
There are many excursions to choose from in Kona such as Para-sailing in the Kailua-Kona Pier, visiting Volcanoes National Park, Helicopter rides around craters and lava flows, snorkeling at the near-by Kahaluu beach to see a large variety of fish and turtles, or joining our favorite Fair Wind snorkeling excursion to the famous Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua bay. Take the day to drive around the island, visit Parker Ranch to ride horses, or drive to Hilo. The big Island is the best place to find a wide variety of activities for the curious adventurer or tourist, or to just lay back and relax without the hustle and bustle of a busy city. There is so much to do and see on this island, we encourage any visitor to search the web for ideas, discounts and scheduling.
We both work for the Anchorage School District in Anchorage, Alaska. We love vacationing in Kona and have been bringing our kids back to this complex since they were 3 months old. It's like a second home for our family. We love the the ocean, beaches, and warmth from the Kona community. We recently (July 2013) spent 3 weeks in the condo renovating, painting, stocking new items and appliances, and generally making our condo an even nicer place to stay.
Brenda Avery purchased this condo in 2013
Alaska has long, dark winters so we have been escaping to Kona for over 40 years. We have tried all the other islands and Kona has become the place we return to. We stay at the Keauhou Punahele complex every year for many reasons. It's a smaller complex, it's located near the Keauhou Shopping Center where one can walk to, and it's the last complex on Alii Dr. so it has a very quiet location. The area is very accessible to the highways, golf courses, ocean, and many local attractions.
It's within walking distance to the Sheraton Hotel (Manta Ray viewing and many other activities), a short walk across the golf course to sit by the ocean's edge to watch the Hawaiian sunsets, it is right on the Kona Country Club Golf 36 hole Golf Course, near the Keauhou Pier where many excursions take off, and within walking distance to the Keauhou Shopping Center for many of your immediate needs.
This is the third time we have stayed at this complex. We love the area. This condo has everything you need! Well stocked kitchen. Very comfortable living space! Beautiful view! The master bed was not very comfortable. Unless you prefer a very firm mattress. Don't think this is the place if you have smaller children. There are lots of pool rules. No fun allowed for the little ones. We did not have small ones with us but there were others and only saw them at the pool once because they were talked to by managers. Didn't think they were being a problem from what I observed. Overall great place. I'm sure we will be back and would definitely rent this place again.
We loved our stay at Brenda's condo. The complex is immaculately kept with beautiful grounds. The pool area is welcoming and very clean. Located just outside the busier part of kona, the condo is a quiet getaway at the end of the day! We had our morning coffee on the comfortable furniture on the lanai. The condo is well stocked and comfortable! We will definitely stay here again!
We spend two weeks in the Avery's condo and were delighted with the choice. Prior visits to the Kona area convinced us that the Keauhou area was where we wanted to vacation. I spent much time researching lodging choices and we were happy to find this condo. Brenda was prompt in responding to a few questions we had The condo was tastefuly decorated and immaculate thru out. The kitchen was equipped with all the appliances needed to cook a full meal.
Beach chairs, umbrellas, and boards were all furnished for a day at the beach. The lanai had a grill and all the furniture for just lounging or dining- which we did plenty of. A beautiful view of the grounds, pool and hot tub with the ocean in the distance lay before us. Punehele is at the end of Ali'i Drive so the complex is in a relatively quiet and congestion free area. However shopping, dining, and entertainment is only a few minutes away by car. We highly recommend this choice
Our stay at this condo was very pleasant. We really enjoyed everything this place offered from amenities that came with the unit to a swimming pool to its quiet location. I did not realize this when I booked (this was our first time to visit Hawaii Island) but this place is away from all the crowds in Kona downtown (?) area with all the gift shops and restaurants, which made it perfect for us as we wanted to get away from the crowds as we live in the City back home. There is a nice shopping mall only a few minutes away from the Condo and this was a huge plus for us as we wanted to prepare our own breakfast and some meals. There are restaurants and a movie theater in this mall too!! Owner was super nice and responded to my emails, inquiries and even txt messages quickly. I highly recommend this place.
We really enjoyed our 2 week stay here. Condo was great with lots of supplies. Grocery store 5 minutes away. We loved waking up to the birds singing every morning. Outdoor eating space is wonderful. Very quiet complex. Pool is very clean. Love to return one of these days.
We have been to Keauhou Punahele many times and we can say without any reservations the condominium
is the finest one we have ever stayed in. The unit was very clean, well organized, and the view was outstanding.
We can highly recommend the unit to anyone considering staying in the community. The community is also well
maintained and the pool area is very clean. The condominium is very accessible from the parking area. We have
another trip planned for 2016 and will definitely reserve the condominium.
Near the Keauhou shopping center, Keauhou bay, and Kona Country Club Golf Course (closed for renovations until summer of 2014). A 90 mile drive takes you to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
