We've been coming to Lewes for well over 20 years and absolutely love it here. It's a special town and well-kept secret. When our children were young we found Lewes Beach to be the perfect sand-castle building spot. Now that they are older, they still enjoy the beach but also take full advantage of the kayaking, fishing, bicycling and shopping options around town. We never run out of things to do or places to explore in Lewes. When we need a little more hustle-bustle we head over to Rehoboth for the boardwalk (Funland is the favorite boardwalk attraction) but we are always very happy to return to Lewes.
Christine Rich purchased this house in 2012
On one of my early trips to Lewes I noticed this house, and more importantly all the fun that people were having on the porch, and fell in love with it immediately. It just looked like a fun, comfortable place to be, and it became my dream to own a place like this. When this very house was listed for sale it was a dream come true, and I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share this special home with others.
I want to make this special house comfortable and inviting for all who visit it. We've furnished it with a combination of lovely antiques and high-end new furniture. We always welcome your feedback in order to make the home even better, but we are confident you will enjoy your stay.
Christine, we had a wonderful time at the Pink Lady. This was the perfect place to prepare for my daughter's wedding weekend! The house was spacious and very clean. It was stocked with much more than I had anticipated. Everyone that stayed with us thoroughly enjoyed it. The location was perfect for a nice stroll into the town of Lewes or just sitting on the porch to relax a bit. Thank you for being so accommodating and responsive. Our stay at the Pink Lady was definitely one of the highlights of the celebration. I would highly recommend it!
Can't wait to see the pictures taken in the Pink Lady from the photographer. I will definitely send a few to you. I know they will be beautiful!
We had a great experience. We highly recommend the property.
We stayed at The Pink Lady for a long weekend with two couples and 4 young kids. The house was adorable and a great size for our group. The photos do not do it justice. The location was great for walks to activities in historic downtown Lewes and just a short drive to the beach. We had a great time in Lewes and would definitely recommend The Pink Lady.
Our family vacation at the Pink Lady House in Lewes was wonderful. This was our first visit as a family to this beach and we all loved it. The house was very spacious and comfortable. It had everything we needed and then some. Quiet and peaceful. Just a short walk to shops and a quick drive to beach by bike or car. Highly recommend Pink lady.
The comfort, accommodations, and location of The Pink Lady exceeded our
expectations by an enormous margin. In fact, upon entering the home we all
had the same reaction that the photos on VRBO were unable to capture the
spaciousness or quality of the gathering areas at which we spent many hours
furthering our friendship bond. The wrap around porch was icing on the cake for us to all be able to share our morning coffee and evening refreshments. We are all looking forward to meeting again at this wonderful home next year and would recommend this rental to anyone who is planning to bring together family or dear friends.
The Pink Lady was expansive, very clean, beautifully furnished and equipped with everything we needed--especially in the kitchen! There were three generations of us in the house, ranging in age from 6-73. Everyone enjoyed our time here. The location is very near downtown and within walking distance to a small grocery store. Some of us used the bikes that are here, too. The drive to the beaches is very short (5 minutes or less). Christine was very helpful a couple of times, when we had questions. We would definitely stay here again, but I would clarify check out procedures better with Christine ahead of time, as the email instructions and instructions at the house differed some, and I just did everything on both lists. It was a lot to do and get out by 10 a.m. The thing I loved the most about the house was sitting on the porch in the morning, before everyone else got up.
Lewes is a very special town, sometimes called the Nantucket of Delaware. As the 'first town in the first state' of the US, Lewes is a town of historical significance, but the best parts of Lewes are what is found today: wonderful restaurants, great local small-town shops, canal-front parks, and of course the beach. We especially enjoy 'Agave' a very popular Mexican restaurant on Second Street, and the local coffee shop (Lewes Bake Shoppe), and our son can often be seen enjoying a fine cup of tea while reading the day away at Cafe Azafran.
Another wonderful thing about Lewes is that you can enjoy both bay and ocean beaches because the town is situated where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. Just across the Canal you will find Lewes Beach, a wonderfully accessible beach with plentiful parking and shower/restroom facilities for your convenience. From the house you can easily walk or bicycle to the beach. It's a great beach for young children.
If you prefer stronger waves, Cape Henlopen State Park is just down the road -- we usually bicycle to it. There's a large bathhouse for changing before you enter the beach. There is also a very charming Nature Center with hands-on activities for the kids, and free bicycles for your use if you need them. The bike path around the State Park takes you past the historic Henlopen Lighthouse and the site of U.S. army bunkers that were built along the coast to spot enemy ships in 1941. The 5193-acre park contains a wealth of natural beauty. In addition to the attractive bay and ocean beaches, the Gordon's Pond Wildlife Area features a unique saltwater inpoundment. Hiking trails and interpretive displays throughout the park help visitors to learn about the fascinating natural features found at Cape Henlopen State Park.
Finally, for lots of waves, people, and boardwalk fun Rehoboth Beach is just a short drive away.
