Starvation Lake is a spring fed all-sports lake. Motorized crafts are allowed from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm. This give you plenty of time to play on the water and still sleep in or enjoy the peacefulness of the woods. Public access is located at the North end of the lake for easy launching of your boat or jet skis. Swim in the crystal clear lake; build sand castles on the beach, sun bathe or fish for brown trout (stocked annually by the DNR) off our 30' dock. At night sit around the fire pit and enjoy s'mores while gazing at the clear star-filled skies.
We are just minutes from the trails and seasonal roads where you can ride your dirt bikes and 4-wheelers.
Are cities and great food your thing? We are centrally located between Bellaire/Shanty Creek, Lakes of the North, Boyne, Gaylord, Traverse City and Petoskey; you can even plan a day trip to Macinaw Island. Throughout the year, there are a variety of festivals, fairs and farmers markets in the area for you to enjoy.
Our lake house is the perfect place for your peaceful get away. Just pack your bags and let your vacation begin.
We bought this lake house when we both had busy careers and two teenage children. It provided us the perfect spot for family gatherings or a peaceful romantic getaway. Now we are both retired and the children are grown and moved away. This special place does not get used as often so we thought it was a great time to share it with other families to enjoy and make wonderful memories.
Chris purchased this house in 1999
This property was perfect for us because of the proximity to the snowmobile trails in winter and the quiet crystal clear lake in the summer. You are surrounded by nature, but can be in multiple towns within an hour.
We fell in love with this property the minute we drove into the long wooded driveway and saw the view of the lake. This lake is not well know but is quiet, beautiful and clean. Every season has something special to offer its visitors.
Although our stay was cut short by a huge area power failure that lasted days we are planning to return. The house was a great fit for us, 5 adults and 3 kids under 7. The house was very well kept up and clean. Lake level and beach were very good for small children. Owners were easy to work with and we appreciated their efforts to make our stay enjoyable.
There were 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 teenagers/pre teens. The cabin was wonderful and laid out where each family had their own space. The lake was beautiful and sunrise/sunsets were spectacular from the decks or the dock. The ATV trails were close to the cabin and had a fantastic trail system to many different little towns. We were fortunate enough to stay over 4th of July weekend and the fireworks over the lake went on for almost two hours. They were amazing. I would definitely recommend to others and would love to stay again!
There were ten of us-- ages 10- 78--who gathered from Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin, and we had a truly relaxing week. The house with the three levels and all the decks gave us plenty of space and privacy, and we found the house easy to enjoy and live in! We all appreciated the attention to details that made the property so comfortable and could tell the owners truly care for this cottage. They were also very easy to work with, and responded to any questions right away. We loved hanging out on the decks, the dock, and enjoyed using the rowboat and kayaks, and grilling out almost every night. And once we unpacked we stayed put--except for an ice cream run to Mancelona! We would highly recommend this cottage for a family gathering.
We had a great stay. The house is in a very pretty spot, surrounded by trees. Inside was warm and inviting. It was also very clean and generally well appointed. Be sure to have a GPS, especially if arriving at night.
This cabin is cozy and spacious with separate living areas on two floors and a small but updated kitchen perfect for cooking in. The view from the house is great and the multi-level decks are stellar for relaxing and enjoying the quiet end of this small lake. Everything was clean and pleasant and the owners were extremely helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cabin to anyone.
Fair warning: You aren't very close to... anything... so come prepared to relax and enjoy the lake (or spend a lot of time driving!).
Beautiful setting and amazing views from the house. The house was so comfortable and clean, and our family enjoyed every minute there. There were ten of us, six adults and four children ranging in age from 3 - 12. The weather wasn't as warm as we would have liked, but our grandchildren went swimming nearly every day. The beach was wonderful. Kayaking was so much fun for all of us, and fishing was fun for all. After a visit to the bait shop, our son and granddaughter found the "spot" to fish. They were so excited.
This is a lovely home with everything you need. Our family enjoyed being together for the week in this lovely home and area.
