After following a long beautiful wooded drive you will arrive at our three-story lake house overlooking pristine Starvation Lake. Step onto our covered porch and begin your relaxing vacation. Upon entering you will find yourself in a tree house setting, bright open floor plan, wood ceilings and a wall of windows overlooking beautiful Starvation Lake. This level includes a private bedroom with a king size bed, closets and a bathroom with a tub/shower. Down the hall a newly renovated, fully outfitted kitchen with stainless steel appliances and peninsula for eating awaits you. Or, you can dine at our large table overlooking the lake. Better yet...how about dining al fresco on the first floor deck with spectacular views. A homey living room complete with a wood burning fireplace, 42' flat screen TV, including cable, makes the first level a place you'll never want to leave.
Want some solitude? Choose the upstairs master bedroom, with a king size bed and private balcony overlooking the lake. Imagine yourself waking up to a serene view of the sun rising over the lake, while enjoying a cup of coffee from your in-room coffee pot. This floor also has a bedroom with a double bed and bathroom with a shower.
If you prefer the feel of the North, head down to our walkout level. You will find a rustic living room, bedroom with two full-sized beds, laundry, and bathroom with large shower. Starvation Lake is a spring fed all-sports lake. Motorized crafts are allowed from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm. This give you plenty of time to play on the water and still sleep in or enjoy the peacefulness of the woods. Public access is located at the North end of the lake for easy launching of your boat or jet skis. Swim in the crystal clear lake; build sand castles on the beach, sun bathe or fish for brown trout (stocked annually by the DNR) off our 30' dock. At night sit around the fire pit and enjoy s'mores while gazing at the clear star-filled skies.
We are just minutes from the trails and seasonal roads where you can ride your dirt bikes and 4-wheelers.
Are cities and great food your thing? We are centrally located between Bellaire/Shanty Creek, Lakes of the North, Boyne, Gaylord, Traverse City and Petoskey; you can even plan a day trip to Macinaw Island. Throughout the year, there are a variety of festivals, fairs and farmers markets in the area for you to enjoy.
Our lake house is the perfect place for your peaceful get away. Just pack your bags and let your vacation begin.
We bought this lake house when we both had busy careers and two teenage children. It provided us the perfect spot for family gatherings or a peaceful romantic getaway. Now we are both retired and the children are grown and moved away. This special place does not get used as often so we thought it was a great time to share it with other families to enjoy and make wonderful memories.
Chris purchased this house in 1999
This property was perfect for us because of the proximity to the snowmobile trails in winter and the quiet crystal clear lake in the summer. You are surrounded by nature, but can be in multiple towns within an hour.
We fell in love with this property the minute we drove into the long wooded driveway and saw the view of the lake. This lake is not well know but is quiet, beautiful and clean. Every season has something special to offer its visitors.
Our group enjoyed every minute of our stay. The property has all you could want from the expansive deck to the ample kitchen to the secluded area. We plan to make this an annual trip.
Our family getaway included 7 adults and 3 children. This home has 3 floors, each with a deck, a bathroom and a living room on the lower 2 floors. Even with 10 of us, we had plenty of room.
Everything was clean, organized and well stocked.
The kitchen had the basics so that we were able to easily fix meals.
The 2 kayaks and the rowboat were used every day! There was fishing and floating and swimming and minnow catching and snorkeling. We had campfires, ate s'mores, relaxed on the comfy chairs and chaises on the decks.
It was a wonderful vacation!
The owners and the caretaker went out of their way to ensure our visit was a good one.
The security deposit was promptly returned.
All ten of us give this home a huge thumb's up!
The house is very well maintained and clean. My favorite part of the house was the deck off the back leading to the lake. It's such a nice and pretty lake. Anything we needed was at the house... there were 6 adults and 3 children. Items for children at the house - dishes, pack & play, high chair, etc. We all had a great time and enjoyed the nice weather. We didn't have one issue or problem with the home. Everything was taken care of. We would stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at CottageWood. The cabin was perfect for our family gathering. We very much enjoyed the kayaks and row boat. The decks made outdoor dining absolutely wonderful.
We returned this year for a second stay, 3 families of 6 adults and 4 young children. The three levels, each with bedroom and bath, is convenient. Loved the large tiered decking and while there was no beach this year the swimming was great. We would recommend this for large multi-family groups and will consider staying here again. Only 30 minutes to Shorts Brewery in Bellaire and 50 minutes to Traverse City.
The house on Starvation Lake was perfect for our 3 families. There was plenty of space to enjoy each others company. The description of the property was accurate and everything was more than we expected. The property is well-maintained and very clean. We were very happy with the house and amenities. The deck is very large and we were able to have friends on the lake stop by and visit. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming, floating on our raft, walks around the lake, fishing, boating and just relaxing on the deck.
The guys went fishing one day at Elk Rapids, we took the kids to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, swam in Lake Michigan and up to Leland. Some went into Traverse City Cherry Festival and a few went up to Charlevoix for lunch at the Weather Vane, a drive around to look at the mushroom houses and shopping. The good thing about sharing a home for vacation is that we can do different things and still meet up at night for dinner.
I would highly recommend this property to my friends and family and hope to rent it again next year.
