Jon & Diane built their home in 1971 when their boys were 10 and 13. With 2 bedrooms, one bath and a loft, they entertained their friends and friends of kids through college. But when grand kids came along, they expanded it to accommodate three couples , 2 .5 bathrooms and 5 twins in the loft. They have lived at Irish Beach longer than in any other home. They love sharing it with others, some of whom have been renting since they were children, and now have children of their own.
They bought the lot in the fog, but knew the 6 miles of beach was fabulous, and the gated entry to the beach road would keep it pristine as it has. Amazed to see the lighthouse when they returned a month later, the beauty of the setting captured them and still holds them here.
Each day is unique, living close to nature and with all the wildlife, changing sea and sky and beach, always different and the stars at night putting everything in perspective. The fabulous restaurants and wineries and artists and shops and scenic Hwy 1 help too.
We had a great a time! Irish Beach is great and the loft was perfect for 5 kids. They had an excellent time sleeping together. Be warned for kids with early bed times, the loft is open to most of the house we ended up hanging out in the Master Bedroom after bedtime, which was fine as there is a nice sitting room. The views and sunset are amazing.
The house was more spacious than expected and the deck layout and its positioning allowed for a beautiful view of Irish Beach. The house was well stocked. The WiFi was an added bonus. The 5 twins beds upstairs is well placed for the extra company.I must say i have been coming to Irish beach for the last 16 yrs and have stayed in many houses along the coast. The Heinzer house had an excellent daily rate..beautiful view...spacious and clean house and enough space if you have a large family or group gathering.I wish i Booked a longer stay 3 nights was not enough.Cannot wait to book again and i will be booking at the Heinzer house!!!!-Gabriel H.
The Irish Beach House was a comfortable getaway for my friends and I when we visited the North Coast for a wedding. We each had cozy beds to sleep in and with 2.5 baths, we all had enough space to accommodate getting ready for the wedding! Diane was very easy to get in touch with and friendly in communication. The location is pristine, the walk to the beach less than 15 minutes, and you cannot beat the view from the deck of the house! One thing of note, cell service is pretty spotty in that area, so be prepared with directions to and from places, don't rely on your phone!
Overall, grateful for the opportunity to rent from Diane and enjoy her comfortable home!
A group of friends and I just had our family reunion at the Irish Beach house. It was spacious enough to accommodate our large group. We especially enjoyed the large deck and hot tub overlooking the Pacific ocean. I recommend turning off all the lights on a clear night and stargazing, we were able to see the Milky Way's trail. Between the hot tub, the grill, and the gorgeous views, we spent most of our time on the deck, but the kitchen, bedrooms, and many bathrooms were also clean and well stocked for our purposes. Irish beach and the rest of the Mendocino area was gorgeous. Be sure to visit the Point Arena lighthouse (we saw seals!), the Russian Gulch Park (waterfalls, redwoods, ocean cliff trails!), and the small nearby towns such as Mendocino and Fort Bragg.
Perfect layout for our extended family . View was wonderful. All things we needed were provided
What a delight staying here was! It is very well appointed with everything you need. My family chefs were happy to find they did not need the specialty pans they brought: it was already here! TV, DVD's, puzzles, books, binoculars, you name it. Beautiful views, large private master bedroom with master bath including walk-in shower and slider with deck access. 2nd queen bedroom is also private with deck slider and half bath across hall. Bedroom with 2 twins shares full bath with living room. Large dining room table, lots of seating including window seats in front of windows. Upstairs dorm room was very nice with skylights to watch the stars. This site needs better pictures: it would be booked non-stop, so maybe not! We want to keep it our secret as we plan to return! Only complaint: radio did not work so husband could not listen to "the coast". wifi was inconsistent but adequate: we had a lot of devices sharing it! AND dog friendly! I would mention it is not a good choice for kids or dogs who run away: it is right above Highway 1 and not fenced. Loved it!
Less than an hour's drive are Gualala, Elk, Mendocino, and Ft. Bragg, with a wonderful botanical garden, shopping, deep sea fishing and whale watching trips, the Skunk Train going through the redwoods, and four state parks for hiking and sea kayaking.
