The Zilker Barn is a quite oasis near downtown. The house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Within easy walking distance of a dozen restaurants and a short bike ride from Barton Springs, South Congress, Downtown and Lady Bird Lake the house is very well situated for all Austin has to offer. One living area has a daybed, and the other living room has a sofa that converts to a full bed. An inflatable full bed available upon request. Each bed has high thread count linens and ample pillows. We also have a roll away crib and a high chair if you are traveling a baby.
The kitchen has been recently remodeled and has a full sized fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, and a tea kettle. Lots of dishes, glasses, pots and pans are also available.
Both bathrooms have walk in showers. The hot water is on demand on we provide ample fresh towels. The house has a washer/dryer if you need to freshen your clothes during your stay.

Mary Sledd purchased this barn in 2012
Zilker House is perfectly situated to enjoy Austin. We are close to many restaurants, bars and outdoor areas. Our house has been very lovingly restored and is both modern and charming.
If you are looking for the best events in Austin we can help you find them. In addition be being life long Austinites we run a website called Do512 that is the authority on all of the events going on in Austin.
The Zilker Barn is a great place for a group to stay in Austin! Our group of 8 adults fit comfortably in the home. The location is absolutely superb (walking distance from food, bars, and shopping) and the home was immaculate. I definitely recommend the Zilker Barn for any group staying in Austin. Mary is very quick to respond and was a pleasure to work with!
This house/barn was great! We had a 3 couples stay in the barn for a weekend in Austin and we had a fantastic time! I definitely recommend renting this out if you want a great place to stay!
Our group of nine adults stayed in the barn over a long weekend and it was perfect. The space is beautiful and open, great for gathering, and we were able to walk to awesome food and over to Zilker Park. Downtown and the airport are both a quick Uber ride away. The barn has all of the basics in terms of kitchen stuff, towels, hair dryers, etc., and the bikes are nice to have for quick errands if you don't have a car. Mary was hands-off but helpful when we needed her, so all around a great stay!
We spent 3 nights there for a bachelorette weekend and loved it! Our only issue all weekend was that we ran out of mirrors! (7 girls and two bathroom mirrors just wasn't enough!) Walking distance to a lot of great places to eat and drink. Also note you must share the 6 bikes with another property.
We rented both the Zilker Barn and the front house (#499147) and could not have asked for a more perfect location for a girls-reunion weekend! With 12 girls, the two homes provided more then enough space to relax, sleep comfortably in beds, enjoy a morning cup of coffee and so much more! The state of the arts kitchens (3), 3 bathrooms, 3 washer and dryers, beds for 15+, and large yards provided a true vacation home feel (note, the barn offers 2 kitchens/bathrooms, the additional listing offers 1 kitchen/bathroom). I would move in tomorrow if I could. The house is wonderfully located just off of South Lamar offering quick access to restaurants, food trucks, south congress shopping, zilker park, barton springs, lady bird lake, corner bar and night life. The house was BEAUTIFUL and offered a luxurious, comfortable, clean place to rest after a full day of activities. Mary was the most wonderful hostess that responded quickly to all of our questions and concerns when booking the trip. We will be back! Thank you Zilker Barn for a memorable weekend! I promise you will not be disappointed if you rent this home!
A group of us were in Austin for a conference and chose to stay at Mary's lovely rental instead of a hotel, and we were very glad we did. We rented both houses and it was extremely roomy, emmaculate and comfortable. The furnishings are excellent quality, the beds and linens are dreamy, and there is absolutely everything you need for a home away from home experience (including a great DVD and book collection). A fantastic bonus is the availability of bicycles, which we used to cruise around the neighborhood and circle the lake on Austin's amazing bike path.
Thanks Mary for making our first time in Austin so enjoyable. We can't wait to go back!
Visited Austin from NYC for a girl's getaway. The Zilker House is perfectly located! About a 10-15 drive from the airport and plenty to do within walking distance (Mary provides a book filled with things to do and restaurants in the area). It's only a short drive or bike ride to South Congress Ave and downtown Austin. The house was bright and sunny, very clean and comfortable...loved the décor! Enjoyed my morning coffee sitting outside in the front yard. It's a very nice place to come back to after long days of exploring the city!
We are near many SXSW venues, less than 2 miles from ACL and only a few blocks from Fantastic Fest.
