Welcome new guests!- Cliff Cottage
Our family has owned a home here since the 60s. We are from Chicago but have always enjoyed Door County as our weekend or summer special getaway. We have many great memories here and we feel we wish to help you create those memories with your family as well. We have an insider secrets list of our most treasured things to do in Fish Creek and a copy of that is waiting for you when you arrive at Cliff Cottage. This is a very special and sacred place for us and we invite you to share our home with your family which was decorated and designed to the very exquisite and formidable tastes of our father, John. He was an entrepreneur and loved coming to Door County to be with his family in this quiet relaxing setting away from the hustle & bustle of Chicago.
Ms.Ciesar purchased this townhome in 2005
You will be staying only a minute walk from most restaurants, bars, beaches or the marina yet you are located on a private road off Cottage Row with million year old limestone cliffs which gives off a far away secluded feeling that you dream of being here away from the noise of cars. It is a place to hear the pat of fox paws in the snow or bald eagles soaring overhead. The sound of rain is powerful when that is all that you hear. After living in a city for a while..the sound of rain or thunder by itself with no other noise...is otherwordly.
Very clean and well kept property.
Spacious, you got everything you would need and expect for a stay.
Great location, with many restaurants nearby.
Great location and accommodations. The house was ready when we arrived and everything was top quality. We had a wonderful time and love the location, convenient to everything in Fish Creek. Second time we have stayed there and enjoyed it a lot each time.
This home is large, well furnished/supplied, convenient and quite attractive. I mention the qualifier about being especially great for adults because it is so well appointed and the carpets are so light in color, I would be pretty nervous about the potential for damage from youngsters. Otherwise, it is great for all ages. The elevator was of particular use by my 82 year old mother-in-law. She would have struggled with the steps otherwise. The kitchen is large, very well appointed and flows nicely into the large main floor area. It was great for entertaining the many family and friends in DC for our daughter's destination wedding. Given that guests were scattered all around the area in small hotels and bed and breakfasts, we really appreciated the large space.
There were a few bumps with many burnt out light bulbs and one or two other electrical issues. But given the frequency of power surges on the DC power grid coupled with recent summer electrical storms, this is to be expected there. The property manager got right on it and was generally very supportive during our stay.
I knew of the location (primo...close to everything but far enough away to be able to chill), but when I walked into the home, all I could say was "wow! the photos did not do it justice, not that the photographer lacked talent, but the home is so magnificent in person, that photos leave a lot unseen. We had 10 people and room for everyone...a very large kitchen/dining area, separated from the large living room by only a wet bar meant that the social opportunities were fantastic! The kitchen was a cooks dream! Six very high quality burners, a griddle and two ovens, plus a hood and tremendous lighting over the cooking area (anyone who has tried to cook in their own shadow will appreciate this feature). Back deck was faced by a cliff with an eagle's aerie (too cool). Would return in a heart-beat.
My family very much enjoyed our stay in this townhouse. The elevator was a nice feature for my 84-year-old mother and father. It's very conveniently located to Fishcreek. My family was disappointed by a nonfunctioning garage door which prohibited use of half of the garage. The door was constructed such that you could not disabled the opener to raise the door manually. This presented a small issue for parking space for my family on the driveway. In talking to the person responsible for maintenance I was surprised to discover that this door had been nonfunctional for quite some time. And the owner was not intending to fix the door until sometime during the winter. This should have been mentioned in the description of the property. The townhouse was overall in good condition however there were some signs of wear. The kitchen is beautiful however some items needed for food preparation or missing such as measuring cups and adequate cleaning supplies. We were also somewhat surprised that we were responsible for removing all garbage from the premises and throwing it into a dumpster located down the block. Renters of this townhouse are charged an additional $250 for housekeeping services and we felt that for this price this should include removal of garbage. Overall this is a nice townhouse and as I said we had a wonderful time. For this price point some of the details mentioned above should have been attended to.
My family of 8 adults spent a week in the house. The house allowed us to have a wonderful celebration of my wife's 60th birthday. Rooms are all lovely with separate bathrooms. 4 couples had plenty of room. The master bedroom has a beautify balcony and the largest bathroom I think I have ever seen. The first floor great room allows plenty of space for family dinners and hanging out. Kitchen is well stocked and we cooked some wonderful meals. We enjoyed the patio in the back. The house is beautifully decorated. I particularly love all the cherry wood throughout the house. Location wise it is a five minute, if you walk slowly, to Fish Creek. 8 minutes to Sunset Park. I cannot say enough positive about the home. We were very sad to say goodbye.
Located at the edge of the historic and scenic lakefront at Cottage Row, we are steps away from quaint restaurants, the marina, and the main st. in town. The beach is a few minutes away by car, and the park has bicycles for rent and paths that go to famous Door County beaches in the park like Nicolet. You can get away from it all, without losing touch with the necessities you need including grocery stores, plentiful shopping district, boat rentals, canoe and more! A medical clinic is 5 minutes away by car.Open on the weekdays. The Hospital is 20 minutes south in Sturgeon Bay.We also have a YMCA two minutes away by car which offers daycare from 8-11 for patrons. The must do's include breakfast at the White Gull Inn which is world famous, Fish Boils at Pelletiers in the evening (summer only), & you can see the boilovers from the deck of the condo while having cocktails on the veranda at sunset. Biking through the park is thrilling and fun for the whole family. The trails are endless and close to beaches for a quick dip. Live theatre such as Shakespeare in the Park or our famous Birch Creek for steel drums and jazz that will fill your evening with a little soul, a plethora of fine art galleries and custom sculpture can be found around Fish Creek and beyond, and don't miss the classic Sunset Beach sunsets....where people a hundred years ago strolled as well to sit in the stone benches and see the marvelous sunsets. Other favorite beaches include Sister Bay Beach (kids can dive off pier into water a favorite teen hangout), Egg Harbor Beach (My favorite is only 10 minutes south by car, it gets crowded but the swimming is divine there and kids play in rich sand), Fish Creek is nice to sunbathe but swimming is good for kiddies, not for adults...(unless you like seaweed). Sunset Beach is rocky and perfect for a romantic night walk. Of course, the best beach is on Chambers Island if you have a large enough boat to get there. You cannot get their via kayak. But Nicolet Beach in the Park is perfect for kayaks and water sports of every kind. Have fun!
