I grew up hearing stories about my great grandfather and his travels throughout Alaska as a young man searching for gold. I made up my mind at 6 years of age that I would go there some day. That day was 25 years ago! Our first home was on Kodiak Island where our children were born. In 2007 we decided to relocate to Anchorage for a change of pace and start a new chapter in our lives. There is so much to see and do!
In 2012 we moved to Palmer , which lies just an hour north of Anchorage in The Matanuska Valley.
My great Uncle, Fred Edlund, was a homesteader in Wasilla in 1915. His brother Anton Edlund ( my other great grandfather) followed a few years later in 1937.
Julie Briles purchased this estate in 2012
The scenery is gorgeous, and its close enough to Anchorage so we can still keep up with our rental properties there.
This house sits right in the middle of 8 peaceful acres but is actually less than a mile from downtown Palmer. The view of Pioneer Peak from the property is breathtaking! Moose and eagles are frequent visitors along with many beautiful songbirds
We are a military family that stayed for a month while waiting to close on a house. We had two adults and four children, and stayed on the main floor unit which includes two levels. It was very comfortable, with lots of room for the children. The property was beautiful, and the yard was wonderful for the kids to run around. There's even a swing outback made of a buoy. Everything you need is provided to make your stay comfortable. She was very fast to respond to any questions. Would recommend this property to anyone! In fact, I just recommended it when I realized I did not write a review, so I wanted to ensure that I left one. Thank you again for a wonderful stay, The Hinkley Family:)
Stayed October 2013 (it would not let me change the calendar back that far, so I selected today's date...LOL)
This house was excellent !!! Great views. Very quiet and peaceful. Everything was as stated in the description.
The house we rented was clean and fully furnished with everything we needed: sheets, towels, blankets, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, dinnerware, even games and children's books for my granddaughter! The view out the bedroom and dining area were spectacular. Palmer is a charming little town with wonderful lakes and mountains to explore. We had a wonderful visit!
We stayed for 10 days and loved it. The view from the main window was fabulous and the three bedroom home had all we needed to enjoy our time in Alaska. The price was right for our situation also, saving us a lot of money over staying in hotels because our trip was mostly work related so we used all three bedrooms. It is close to Palmer and easy access to routes going North to Denali or South to Anchorage.
I'm glad we found this place. Thank you.
This house and the location was perfect! Julie was wonderful to work with, I had my original plans for lodging fall through and I found this place and it was perfect. Central to everything we wanted to do in Alaska. Julie was very helpful in turning a crisis into the best thing that could have happened. We plan on going back to Alaska and will be contacting Julie again. Thanks for the memories!
This property was perfect for two couples travelling together!
Two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom plus a galley kitchen, eating / sitting area and laundry facilities. The property was clean and very well maintained.
This was much better than staying in a hotel and should we find ourselves back in the Anchorage / Palmer / Wasilla area, we would certainly book again with Julie.
Our location in the Matanuska Valley gives guests a centralized base to explore all the Valley has to offer! Check out the Reindeer Farm, The Muskox Farm, The Alaska State Fair, Alaska Raceway Park, Horseback Riding, Paragliding, Rafting on the Matanuska River, Historic Independence Gold Mine, Pioneer Museum, Alaska Transportation Museum, ATV Rides, Hiking, great restaurants and so much more!
