Why Melanie MacKenzie chose Sayulita
Why Sayulita?...it was an easy choice. Our first trip was many years ago and much has changed, but this little pueblo has managed to retain its wonder and charm. The people of Sayulita are what make it special. The community involvement of those that have chosen to call Sayulita home, is much appreciated by those of us who are still trying to make our way there. All that hard work and dedication has produced the environment that we call Sayulita today. There is pride in ownership and if you take that energy, combine it with breathtaking surroundings & fine dining. Amenities like Wi-Fi access and ATM's it makes this choice an easy one. You can do just about anything or nothing. I have never been anywhere else in the world that I loved this much...that's why!
What makes this Condo unique
There is a simplicity and ease that comes with condo ownership. Many of the little details are already taken care of. We love the north end area, it is ideally situated to be close enough to town but just far enough away. You will not be disturbed after a long day out from the sometimes overzealous sounds of the downtown nightlife. Casa Diem has proximity & privacy, coupled with the amazing views that we feel adds that little extra something making each stay unforgettable!

Great location and property
We thoroughly enjoyed Sayulita and absolutely plan on returning. Our favorite of all activities was the day trip on Ally Cat Sailing to the Marietas Islands. Also, don’t miss stopping at the tortilla factory at the top of town for a hot, fresh kilo of tortillas for 8 pesos.
Pajaro de Fuego: Pro’s: Great location, close enough to town/beach to walk (or golf cart-highly recommended) but far enough out you don’t hear the city noise. Secure/safe property. Gated underground parking for your golf cart/charging. Cons: the exterior railings could use a bit of maintenance. They were all quite deteriorated. The pool was a bit on the grimy/slimy side. The walls are not the thickest so you will hear your neighbors at times (we had a neighbor that liked music)
Casa Diem: Pro’s: amazing communication by owner and on-site manager. Very comfortable and modern. Beautiful views. Bottle water provided, WiFi, air conditioning. Beach towels and chairs for use. Con’s: if you have trouble with stairs, this is not for you. 7th floor walk-up. Similar to the property, the deck & railings were deteriorated. We were warned by the onsite manager to be careful on the deck. A bit worrisome on the 7th floor (as all you want to do is hang out in the deck and look at the view). No access to washer/dryer. Housekeeping can do laundry for extra fee, but it would have been nice to have access to a dryer as anything that gets wet does not really dry due to the humidity. So plan on damp towels/swimsuits for your stay.
Casa Diem accommodated our family of 5 well (3 teenagers ages 16, 16, and 14). The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the AC in the bedrooms-a must since it is so humid in Sayulita the air becomes stuffy without AC. The stairs...we had to count.... and yes there are 113 steps to the #702 condo and no elevator. Very thankful for the help of the bellboy on our arrival day. Packing 10 days worth of groceries and luggage up was exhausting but doable. We felt we managed just fine without a golf cart to use to get around. Our favourite beach was the north beach-turn right when leaving the condo, then hike the 15min. jungle trail to lead down to the more secluded beach past the rocks. Be aware there were nudist here/some campers a bit further down the beach. Waves pretty big but my family enjoyed diving through them but not swimmable for younger children. Much cleaner than the main beach in town-I would highly recommend to avoid that beach. Very crowded, lots of dogs, campers, drugs offered to my kids while we were sitting with them, and vendors! We didn't enjoy walking the streets downtown Sayulita. Very dirty. Septic and garbage smell unbearable at times-especially with the heat! We were visiting during the Christmas/New Year break which is a busier time for sure. The condo owner Melanie always responded to my texts/questions efficiently. Thankful of the location of the condo being about a 10min walk out of town in a quieter area. The roads are not flat and are extremely steep in some places. We did end up renting a golf cart for one day to visit Playa Carricitos-gorgeous beach (massive waves). Took the golf cart up a steep road and the front tires lifted off the ground (3 people riding on the golf cart) lol. Hardly anyone using the pool-cold and bit dirty from being surrounded by foilage. Did feel refreshing to jump in for a quick dip upon returning from swimming in the salty ocean.
Great Modern Property in Sayulita
Our family of four stayed here for 11 nights had an amazing time. We visited during Semana Santa, which is the busiest time of year, but it quieted down as soon as the weekend was over. The condo complex, Parajo de Fuego is built up on the side of the mountain, providing incredible views. The rooftops are "green" with grass, and some condos have private dipping pools. We poked around a few different condos, and no two were the same! We enjoyed the condo pool every day. We left a couple pool noodles and a boogie board behind for future visitors to Cada Diem.
Casa Diem is set up high, with many stairs. The stairs did not bother our family at all (6+7 year old children). We appreciated the walk and the views from up high. The kitchen is well stocked with modern appliances and utensils for cooking and eating in. The ocean is visible from both of the condo balconies at Casa Diem, and quick walk to a green roof will allow you to watch the sunset over the ocean. The condo was clean, and the maid service was reliable. Forgoing the popular golf cart transportation, we walked to town and the beach every day.
The condo complex is only a few years old but starting to show some wear. The pool had many missing tiles, and chips, cracks, stains can be seen on outer building. These items are just for information and weren't any concern to our stay. Condos are individually owned, so it's up to the owner to maintain the interior, and Casa Diem is well maintained.
The best part of Casa Diem is the owner and the managing staff. Questions were welcome and answered timely, transportation was arranged ahead of time (additional cost) and was fantastic, and our check-in/check-out was so easy. This was my first VRBO and I'm so relieved I found a wonderful owner who helped make this our best vacation yet.
We are excited about our next visit to Sayulita, and would book Casa Diem again. This is such a cool town with so many great locals, visitors, shops, food, surf, and beaches.
Beautiful view, awesome condo!
Stayed here for 8 nights with my husband, our 8 month old baby and a friend. Beautiful private views from the balcony, huge open living area, and large bedrooms. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, we did a big shop at the Mega on our way in and were able to eat many meals at the condo.
The condo owner, property manager & assistant were all super helpful - quick with communications and made sure all our needs were met.
The location was great for us as we wanted to be at the quieter end of town. Beach access is across the street - of note, the waves break right on the beach so it's not ideal for swimming (although there's a great family-friendly beach within walking distance - Playa de los Muertos). We enjoyed the easy stroll into town and the pool was great for our little guy - plenty of shaded areas.
As others have noted, there's a ton of stairs and a steep driveway up to the condo, but we got used to it and actually appreciated having the built-in exercise to our days so that we could indulge in tacos and churros! The pool is also around the halfway point on the way up to the condo, so we often stopped for a cool-down dip on the way up :)
I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay. Please come back and stay with us any time. You were a lovely guest!
Great condo, quiet location, excellent owner.
Our stay at Casa Diem was great. The condo is nicely appointed and in excellent condition. The beds were super comfortable and there was plenty of space for two couples without tripping over each other. The location was close enough to town that it was a short drive away but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. The pool was also nice and quiet as well. I recommend you rent a golf cart for easy of getting around. The walk can be difficult if it's hot and humid. The 100 plus stairs are not for seniors or those who are not much for exercise. The positive though is that you can eat and drink what you want because you will burn it off on the daily stair climbs. Melanie, the owner, made our entire experience a breeze and was super helpful in arranging our car service from and to the airport. She also put us in touch with the owner of the golf cart company who delivered and picked it up without a hitch.
I highly recommend CasaDiem. You will enjoy your stay!
Great views, great stay!
Along with another couple, we really enjoyed staying in this spacious condo, with its super-comfortable beds and convenient kitchen. Both decks offered amazing views over the ocean, and we were actually glad that they were in shade most of the time, as the balconies on the other side of the condo building would probably have been too hot to enjoy. But there was plenty of sun and seating around the pool. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating, as was Melanie , the owner. ( we especially appreciated the pre-arrangement of appropriate transfer from the PV airport and back) We really enjoyed our daily walks to town, and especially the market, as well as towards San Pancho along the beach and through the woods.
We were so fortunate to be in Sayulita for the film and music festival - saw films that we would never see otherwise! Local restaurants were excellent and reasonably priced. We got used to the stairs ( eventually) , but would not recommend this for anyone with physical concerns or small children and lots of equipment.
Thanks, Melanie, for your hospitality.
The surf break in sayulita is world renowned and has the best and most consistent waves for surfing and kayaking along mexico's pacific gold coast, jungle walks & horseback riding are other favourite pastimes. The village has terrific restaurants, great shops and a wonderful little night life.
