Our family of four spent a week at this property and it more than lived up to our expections. Perched high on a hill overlooking the coastline and the village of Scopello, the house is charmingly rustic - yet well equiped, clean and very comfortable.

Everything presented in the description is completely accurate. Guiseppe was a marvelous host. He met us to show us around and left us with a fabulous lunch. He also provided beach towels and umbrellas and some insider information that proved very useful during our stay.

I would love to return again for a longer stay!

It was our favourite place during our travels around Sicily.

The owner Giuseppe is a very sympathetic and helpful person and our stay started with a great delicious dinner prepared for us by him and his friend. The property is a lovely country house situated on the hill overlooking the Golf of Calsellammare and surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. The house is nicely furnished in rustic style and with a great taste. The huge terrace has a magnificent panoramic view of the sea and the coastline. There are all necessary amenities to make the vacation as comfortable as it can be including an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and a stone oven. The cute village of Scopello is 5 minutes drive away, we ate there a couple of times, the meals were fairly good and unexpensive. The nearest beach is located in a 3 minutes drive. The nearby town of Castellammare has a nice historic center, a small port and a lot of eateries and grocery stores.

We were able to explore a substantial chunk of north-western Sicily during our stay in Scopello from Cefalú in the mid-north to Marsala in the south-east. October is a great time to visit those places: no onslaught of tourists, no summer heat yet the air and the sea are still pleasantly warm. Car is a must.

We were a party of friends in our fifties and we spent an exciting week in Scopello. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this splendid property to anyone who wants to enjoy the warmth and beauty of this part of Sicily.

Giuseppe, thank you for the nice holiday in your house!

Wonderful Sicilian Holiday House

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful countryhouse has the best view over the Scopello / Castellamare coastline.

The house is simple and charming.

The outdoor facilities are absolutely great! Tablefootball, outdoor kitchen with grill a.s.o.

The owner Giuseppe - is amazing. He waited for us at 1 o'clock am - had made local dishes ready for us, and had even presents ready for the (sleeping) kids.

We were there end of april - with 2 kids, age 2 and 5 years.

The place were perfect for us.

Local market and beach within 2 km's from the house. Car is needed here.

The small village of Scopello - in walking distance (1/2 hour) is excellent and authentic, and served us great pastas and pizza's every evening.

Only minus - the weather was quite unstabile (unusal for the period) - but we had a great time in Giuseppe's beautiful house.

We can only recommend this beautiful spot!

"The friendly and helpful...

  • 5 of 5

"The friendly and helpful owner Giuseppe welcomed us with a delicious selection of local dishes. The house is in a wonderful, quiet setting high above the bay overlooking Scopello. The outdoor area is great - plenty of shade and seating, an outdoor kitchen and shower. Inside, the bedrooms are small but comfortable and the kitchen adequate. Excellent bakery in Scopello and very good deli/supermarket 5 minutes drive away from the house. All in all, highly recommended."

Wonderful villa and a great base for exploring

  • 4 of 5

We liked the villa very much because it felt Sicilian. Lots of character, cosy, clean, comfortable and generally well equipped although fans in the bedrooms, some wine glasses and a full length mirror would have given it five stars. Giuseppe was a real pleasure to deal with. Friendly, welcoming, informative and very prompt with communication. He met us a short distance from the villa as it is quite hard to find, and showed us a quieter place to swim and where to shop on the way. He then gave us a very detailed induction to the property and had prepared a super lunch of traditional Sicilian food which was very welcome.

The outside areas and garden are amazing. Very private. Different seating areas, tables, loungers and a hammock so that you can always find a quiet spot for some time to yourself. The table football provided a lot of fun. The attention to detail and care that have gone into the property are obvious. The views are incredible across the Gulf. Very beautiful by day and night - so many stars.

We walked to Scopello early one morning - about 45 mins. A rough, fairly steep track for a short distance so good footwear required. Wouldn't recommend walking back after a night out in Scopello though. Scopello is charming. A great cafe and several good restaurants, some with wonderful views. Pleasant atmosphere. We swam down by the old tuna fishery. Very picturesque but it was quite crowded.

We enjoyed trips to Segesta and Selinunte which are pretty close by and must sees. Eurice is also definitely worth a visit with great views from the castle, lovely cobbled streets, interesting history. We went to Castellamare del Golfo for a couple of nights out. A great atmosphere, picturesque, interesting and pleasant to just spend a bit of time exploring. We would recommend the Saten Bar for pre dinner drinks and canapes and the Tonnara restaurant, both on the waterfront. We loved Sicily and definitely want to come back as there is so much more to see and do and the food is fabulous. We would certainly recommend this villa.

Living with the gods

  • 5 of 5

Giuseppe's house is located in one of the nicest areas of Sicily - if not the nicest. Scopello is a lovely little town with a very pleasant nightlife and an absolutely beautiful coast line. Both Palermo and Trapani airports are only minutes away due to the fact that the autostrada is nearby. This is also a good place from which to radiate towards Selinunte, Segesta and even Cefalu ; although we ended up just sitting by the house and looking at the truly incredibly beautiful view over the sea…

The house is set in the hills ; a situation that provides both freshness in the summer and calm all through the year. There are many outside spaces which allows every family member to be on his own, either in the sun or the shade. There are stretchers galore, tables to eat, others for the apperitivo,… and a soccer-table for the family !

The fridge was full of wonderful surprises including a bottle of limoncello!, white wine, red wine,… There was also a basket of fruits, wonderful bread (be sure to ask for the bakery), local delicatesses,… If it passed your mind – as it did mine – that this place is rather expensive, you will certainly understand were the plus-value has been invested – at least part of it ! – when you snoop around the kitchen. (Believe me, you will prefer it this way around, rather than finding a place with kitchen towels in the toilet because the previous gusts had run out of toilet paper…)

Giuseppe is not only a very kind and reliable person ; to us he has been a true guardian angel.

Jeroen + family – Paris / France

P.S : for those – like me – who weren’t exactly keen with the idea of putting the toilet paper aside from the bowl, I should probably add that this isn’t an issue at all – surprisingly !
