The Bay Area Cabin Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, 2 Bath Cabin in the Woods

Slip back in time and relax amongst the rustic setting and the 200 year old live oak trees. Isolate yourself from the world and escape. Listen to the rushing waters of the creek or chirping crickets while partaking in the gorgeous wine barrel hot tub. Read a book while the smell of redwood plank walls surround you. Sit on the deck with some wine and cheese and listen to the birds and breathe the fresh air scented with nature. Curl up in the quiet sitting room with a novel or sprawl out on the inviting king size bed in the cozy and quiet solitude of the master bedroom.

Don't let its rustic charm let you think that you are in a shack and totally off the grid. The 2,000 Sq Ft. Treehouse includes satellite TV with premium channels, high speed internet (wired and Wi-Fi), large modern gourmet kitchen with a Wolf gas range and upgraded appliances, a wine barrel hot tub and a full luxury bathroom with large walk-in shower.

If you want to stay close, the town of Sunol has Bosco's Bones and Brew, a restaurant and saloon featuring 'Bosco', the famous dog mayor of Sunol, plumbed, mounted on the bar and serving Bosco's Brew in only the way a dog can. On the way, stop at Elliston Vineyards and sample some of their award winning wines. On the weekends, partake in breakfast or lunch at Sunol Railroad Cafe' or catch a steam or diesel locomotive from the Sunol train depot into the historic town of Niles to explore the silent film era. Hiking and bike trails are minutes away in the Sunol and Pleasanton Ridge Regional Wildernesses.

You will most certainly see deer and turkey on the 2.9 mile drive to the Treehouse. The road literally forces you to relax and unwind as you drive under the canopy of trees...all fitting for when you walk in the front door at the end of the day.

About Richard and Janet

We were both born in the San Francisco Bay Area - less than 20 miles from the Treehouse. We have always appreciated the deversity, culture and variety the San Francisco Bay Area offers. Although there is a multitude of activities and things to do in the metro area, the cabin provides us an escape from the normal 'rat race'.

Richard and Janet purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Richard and Janet chose The Bay Area

Sunol is a unique town. Steeped in history, the town was once a stop on the famed Transcontinental Railroad. Although the tracks have been decommissioned from freight and passenger use, the station and tracks are used for weekend public train rides between Sunol and the old silent movie town of Niles. The town became famous in the early 80's by electing a dog as 'mayor' - not once, but TWICE.

What makes this cabin unique

Feel like you are camping in the woods...while living in luxury. Isolated enough that you can decompress...but close enough to be in Silicon Valley or San Jose airport in 30 minutes or less. Stoneridge Shopping Center is 15 minutes away. Paragon Outlet Mall is 20 minutes away. 2 golf courses within 10 minutes. Hiking is literally in your back yard. Two (Fremont or Pleasanton/Dublin) Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations are 20 minutes away and can get you to downtown San Francisco in 45 minutes.

Unique and Well Loved Property!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this charming and historic house for 2 1/2 months the past winter starting early January. Although El Nemo raged outside the first month the house was warm and cozy and Richard supplied a ton of fire logs to make the sitting area glow. Our grandchildren came over every weekend and they loved the whole atmosphere including the hot tub! It is definitely the most stocked property including kitchen we have ever stayed in. The whole area is charming and Richard had built a wonderful safe enclosed area for our two dogs. It is almost impossible to find pet friendly rentals in this area so if you have dogs you can cut to the chase and stop here! We were very pleased with our stay and especially Richard's recounting of the local colorful history of the area.

The house is beautiful and the history behind it makes it that much nicer. Everyone who came really enjoyed their stay. It was relaxing and fun. Enjoyed every moment being there. Hiking, playing cards, hot tubing, bike riding, music, and a cozy fire. Just what we needed. Thank you Richard and Janet!

Perfectly met out needs!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed this out-of-the-way property for a girls' getaway weekend. It was quiet, tranquil, and perfectly met out needs. The home is nicely appointed with all the small appliances you could need, plus lots of extras, like complimentary food and beverage mixes, and shampoo and body wash. The tour by the owner was helpful and informative and saved us navigating the nuances all homes have. While remote, it was still plenty close to lots of great areas to dine, wine taste, shop, and hike. Thanks so much!

Perfect place for a getaway, amazing host

  • 5 of 5

Richard was super helpful throughout the process. The house is very well maintained and as described. Would certainly come back to stay at the treehouse. Group of 9 stayed here comfortably for two nights, best time we had. The house is thoughfully decorated with vintage decors, has fully stocked kicthen and all rooms equipped with all easy access ports and light dimmers. Yep as described a rustic home with a modern twist! Loved it!

nothing like a house versus a hotel

  • 5 of 5

another great place through VRBO. Definitely renting a house has much more than a hotel, especially the personalized service by the owner. the owner of the property we rented, Richard, was great and extremely helpful and flexible, especially in terms of checking in when we arrived. He was thorough and we had a great time.
