Stinson Beach Cabin Rental Photos and Description

The Barrel House In Stinson Sits On A Very Private 4-acre Space

Winter special 3 nights for price of 2 excluding holidays through March 15, 2016. (Special not reflected in VRBO quote)

The Barrel House sits on a very private 4-acre space that is adjacent to Federal and State Park land, and through which run two streams. There is absolutely no more spectacular view available than the panoramic views from every room, and the deck, of the Barrel House. You can see the world, from Stinson Beach/Bolinas to Point Reyes, while no one can see you. The sun bathing on the spacious deck, and the hot tub, are very private and tranquil. This house sits before you get into downtown Stinson Beach so that, on busy holiday weekends, you arrive to the property before any traffic jams begin.

This is a strictly non-smoking house both inside and out.

What makes this cabin unique

The Barrel House offers guests a vacation rental like no other. Spend a week or a weekend in a converted water tank. Views of the ocean and village below, romantic spiral staircase to the bedroom. Away from the world and close enough to walk to the village for dinner. Amazing.

Guestbook comments from the manager

My third visit and this place continues to invoke poetry, creativity and rest. Thank you for the opportunity. I will, of course, be back soon.

Wonderful romantic private retreat

  • 5 of 5

This place is so cute, exceptionally unique and delightful. The hot tub was wonderful. My partner and I spent a weekend here and loved every minute. There are marvelous views from everywhere. Getting to the beach and restaurants (Parkside our favorite) was easy and just a few minutes by car. There us a two burner stove, microwave and table top oven and apartment sized refrigerator so not much cooking but enough to heat things up and get breakfast together. Outside is a bbq and large picnic table which we plan on using next time. The upstairs pretty much has 360 degree views. When we were there we had a storm it was incredibly wonderful. The bed upstairs is a comfortable platform bed so for us 60 year olds it was a challenge to stand up but well worth it. The spiral stair case is narrow but that was good because it felt safe and we navigated it well. Downstairs there is a lovely window single bed/seating area and another futon set up as a couch. The only issue we had was with the TV. There is no cable, it is an Apple TV and fortunately my partner was familiar with the set up but in order to watch any regular channel we had to subscribe to it . There were no directions. The DVD worked well. All in all we definitely plan to return and since we live in San Francisco we plan to make it our getaway place... it was magical.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed The Barrel House. It IS the best location to watch a storm blow in. Thank you for suggesting directions for the Apple TV - a great idea and sorry we didn't have those for you.

Took wife and daughter up to the Barrel House for wife's birthday. Had a wonderful time. Great location....just up hill from Town (not walkable). Good views and relaxation. Would definitely go back!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My parents, wife, dog, and I really enjoyed this property. If you are OK taking a very short drive to the beach/shops (walking would be fine too, but you'd have to spend a short stretch on the highway), then I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful & amazing service from management company

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful and unique house; fabulous view. Steps to the bedroom could be a little tricky for some, but the futon downstairs is perfectly comfortable if necessary. If the weather's humid that could potentially be a problem, but otherwise the place is fantastic. Do bear in mind that you're up a hillside among the trees, so you'll spot beautiful birds and the occasional fox, but you may also be woken up early too! Also, this is very much a view-of-the-ocean place rather than a beach place, even though you're only a very short drive from the beach, so think about what you're looking for in a vacation rental. In town: pastries at Parkside are excellent; bookstore a very nice surprise. (Incidentally, am very happy to recommend the management company, Seadrift Realty. A problem occurred after we arrived that the management couldn't really do anything about; they attempted to make up for it to the best of their ability. I was very impressed with their concern and efforts, which prompted me to write this review.)

Fabulous spot for a weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 48 hours for our 17th anniversary weekend and had a fabulous time. The Barrel House is a unique little hideaway with tons of charm. If your goal is to spend a lot of time on Stinson Beach, this may not be the most convenient spot, but we found it the perfect place if you prefer gorgeous views and the sound of the ocean to sunburn and crowds. I spent hours in the window seat knitting and enjoying the view. It was beautiful and relaxing and we loved the eclectic decor. The small kitchen (the listing accurately indicates no oven, two gas burners, and a small refrigerator) is very well appointed with loads of equipment and cookware, knives, utensil, cutting boards, huge pots, etc. There are even vintage Fire King coffee mugs! Tons of cushy pillows make it all so cosy. The cute bathroom had more towels than I have ever seen in a rental, great water pressure, and a wonderfully hot shower. The nights were cool and the days warm (though not hot) while we were there, and the small propane heating stove in the living room and the great air circulation from downstairs to upstairs kept it always pleasant. We are early risers, but if you like to sleep late, note that there are windows everywhere and none of them are covered. One night the fog failed to come in and we watched the sunset from the window seat on the first floor and then around 5am we were able to watch the full moon set over the ocean from bed. We loved it! We didn't spend much time on the deck and we didn't use the hot tub, so no comments about those features, and we also saw no need to turn on the television, so I have no idea what kind of channels it gets. The wifi worked well and was pretty speedy. We are looking forward to coming back to the Barrel House!
