About Mark Fox
I have an obsession about personal service, not just machines with endless tape recordings an options and waiting 20 minutes to be answered! I always make sure that I or my agents are available at the end of my mobile if needed. My motto is "personal holidays with personal service".Almost 1000 guests a year now stay at my holiday homes. The average rating of over 250 online reviews is 4.9! I try to deliver consistency and quality. We are all from London. I am a retired banker and my wife is a doctor. We started buying holiday homes because we were consistently disappointed with the quality of other places when we started renting self-catering places as a young family. Hotels didn't offer proper flexibility for small kids, and self-catering was either very basic or ridiculously expensive jetset places. Our children are now 18,17 and 14, but the business has grown as we found that others like our choice of locations and standards. Some of our guests have stayed in all five of our holiday homes, sometimes 3 or 4 times in the same one.

Why Mark Fox chose Great Rissington
The most important factor is the village. Many properties are listed in busy tourist villages such as Burford or Bourton. We wanted a genuine farming village, not a tourist place, but one that had all the charm of a Cotswold village, with pub, church, etc. The property is an unusual blend of feeling like a very traditional cottage, but properly modernised, yet not losing any of that tradition. It is quiet, there is lots of parking and a large garden.
What makes this Cottage unique
See the comments about the village above! the 15th century pub is just five minute's walk away. The church is more than 1000 years old, there are Norman graves in the church yard. Visit the tapestry of the village beneath the bell tower and you can find the cottage woven into it! The cottage is furnished with appropriate furnishings and lighting so that it feels like a country cottage. There is even a library of books to enjoy.

Lovely weekend in a peaceful village setting.
We spent a long weekend in the area for a wedding and the cottage was perfect for our stay. Directions to the cottage were spot on, the local pub was just up the road and we were lucky to have a beautiful sunny weekend and so were able to sit in the garden much of the time.
We enjoyed a relaxing week in a beautiful cottage. We appreciated the quiet location and well presented accommodation that was perfect for our visit. There was plenty to do in the area and we enjoyed a fabulous day at the Costwold Animal Park. Parking in Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold can get busy at weekends but the villages are well worth a visit. The cottage is also within easy driving distance of Gloucester, Cheltenham and Oxford for day trips. There are plenty of facilities, as well as museums, tea shops and supermarkets in Bourton but we could then retreat to the cottage at the end of the day. A lovely holiday to be recommended.
Very well provisioned and comfortable cottage
We stayed as a family of five with three adult children and a 90 year grand parent. Very comfortably accommodated in this very well provisioned cottage. The location is as good as gets in the Cotswolds for ease of driving from London and access to all the sights and amenities of the area. Mark is a first rate host. Very responsive and helpful.
Delighted that you had such a good time! Mark.
Lovely cottage in good location
The cottage is in a small village which makes it very quiet and peaceful.
The accommodation is cosy and relaxing, with everything you need.
Lorraine who manages the place was very helpful and on hand if needed, although we did not need to call on her. The towels and general fittings were of high quality.
We had a meal in the Lamb pub, only a few minutes away, which we enjoyed very much.
Overall we were very happy with our stay.
Great, relaxing spot in the Cotswolds!
Our family of five (kids aged 13, 10, and 8) had a wonderful experience with this property. We stayed here June 28-July 5, 2016. The cottage is just as depicted in the pictures -- lovely, charming, and comfortable. It looks like it belongs in a movie set! We had everything we needed. The supermarket in Stow-on-the-Wold is about 12 minutes away. The Lamb Inn is a 2-minute walk and is a wonderful place to dine. Bourton-on-the-Water is about a 6-minute drive and has many restaurants and shops. Wi-Fi and washer/dryer work very well. We took day trips from here to Stratford-upon-Avon, Stonehenge, Highclere Castle, Oxford, Blenheim Palace, and Sudeley Castle. We also enjoyed quiet, relaxing mornings and evenings in the cottage. The gardens in the back were a nice surprise -- larger than we expected. The only slight negatives were endearing ones. (I had to learn to duck my head under very short door frames, and we learned not to walk on the bottom two creaking stairs.) The owner was very pleasant to work with and always responded to our inquiries in a timely fashion during the booking process and leading up to our trip. This property was exactly what we were hoping it would be, and we enthusiastically give it our highest recommendation.
Thank you for such a good review. Delighted that you enjoyed your visit, and you are always welcome back at this or any of my other places!
Beautiful Spacious cottage with lovely features and cosy log fire.
The cottage had plenty of room for the 7 of us,for our family get together. It was very clean and had a well equipped kitchen including a good coffee maker. The cottage had lovely features through out including a lovely log fire , which along with the central heating kept us nice and cosy even in January . It was close by to other popular villages which were nice to visit.
Situated in a glorious Cotswold village, complete with pub, village green, and 900 year-old church and spectacular views across the Cotswolds. 90% of the buildings are hundreds of years old, built in traditional local style. Right in the middle of the Cotswolds, but away from the tourist trail. The village is a starting point for many beautiful walks across the countryside,The famous towns of Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the Water and Burford are just a few minutes' drive away. It' a perfect spot to base touring across the Cotswolds and for Oxford (40 minutes' drive away), Stratford-Upon Avon (40 minutes) and Cheltenham (40 minutes). But then back to a peaceful, beautiful traditional village cottage, complete with large character garden.
