This is the perfect home base for a wonderful bay area vacation. 10 mile drive to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco or travel by water on the ferry straight into downtown San Francisco. But after a day of sight seeing in foggy San Francisco, return to sunny, beautiful San Anselmo and your peaceful spacious home. In addition to its proximity to San Francisco, the house is a few blocks from downtown San Anselmo, walking distance from the town of Fairfax, and close to West Marin, beaches, wine country and more.
We enjoy taking the ferry to San Francisco, walking to town, hiking the nearby trails, camping, eating and cooking.
Kelly purchased this house in 2012
An inviting, spacious, wonderful family home, it is also perfect for entertaining. We love cooking gourmet meals in the fabulous kitchen and sharing cocktails or a glass of wine with friends on the back terrace or in the library or living room.
We love this location. We can go into San Francisco, visit the beach, wine country, Muir Woods, or the rural beauty of Point Reyes. In five minutes, we can walk downtown to enjoy a meal or a coffee or a hike on the trails.
We truly enjoyed staying in the home and found it to be very comfortable. We love to cook and ate most of our breakfasts and dinners at the home. We found everything we needed and enjoyed sitting out on the patio to eat. The location was close to the wedding activities and centrally located for several wonderful day trips (cheese shops/oysters/beach picnic, wine country, and SF).
This home in Marin county is a spacious house built in the early 1900's, but nicely updated with most modern decor and appliances to make for a charming vacation experience. The house, itself, is on a hill with stunning view of other houses and hills in the area. The house has many distinct areas upstairs and downstairs to give a big group or family plenty of living space, but without anyone feeling like they are on top of one another. A two level patio in back also provides a secluded relaxation area with fire pit, picnic tables, and grill.
The home's location has quick access to Route 101 straight down to the Golden Gate Bridge. This home makes a great launch point for drives to Napa Valley, San Francisco/Oakland, or anything down the Pacific coast. Muir Woods is also just a few miles away with stunning redwoods and walking paths. There is even a piano in a side room for the musically inclined. I found out by surprise that my son can actually play many songs and he entertained us on the piano every day.
I highly recommend this property for its size, location, features, and amenities. You won't be disappointed.
Home owner is excellent and really goes the extra mile to ensure that everything is just as expected. Beautiful home on hillside. Scenic community and terraced back yard. Spacious home works as a perfect starting spot to all Bay Area attractions. Honest and accurate folio of local businesses, sights, and restaurants. Super clean and well appointed. Would go back and stay again without reservation. A+.
We had a great vacation time in the Bay Area, we decided to stay in this property and it happened to be just great for moving around the SFO, Napa, Sausalito, Muir Woods, Sonoma, Livermore and other area sites. The house is as described and the ambiance is quite comfortable, plenty of light and space. The owner was very helpful not just to get a good experience in their house but also suggesting places to visit around. I recommend this property for big families (8-10), the amenities in the property are as described (Internet TV, Cable Tv, Internet, etc). Thanks to Kelly for all the kindness before, during and after our stay. We will go back sometime in the future.
The house itself is lovely, well-appointed, and very comfortable. It is an easy drive (and even easier ferry ride) from downtown San Francisco and a welcome escape into the beautiful landscape of Marin county. I really appreciated all of the amenities within walking distance as well as the ease of access to both SF and the surrounding areas.
Kelly and Rob are the consummate hosts and local guides, with as many recommendations and suggestions for local activities and restaurants as you could want.
I can't wait to stay again!
Stayed here with family, and we truly enjoyed the look and feel of this home and the area. Location to town was ideal for us. We loved being able to walk into town to enjoy all the great coffee shops and restaurants. Great home base for day trips to Sausalito (great children's museum there!), Tiburon (took ferry over to City) and Muir Woods (great hiking). Dreaming of going back soon!
Our family loved being at this beautiful, spacious, comfortable, well-appointed home with an excellent chef's kitchen. The photos do not do it justice. It is well-situated to enjoy everything the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer. Centrally located and a short drive to the wine country, San Francisco, the coast. Walking distance to charming downtown San Anselmo, which has several very good restaurants. The owners were hospitable and helpful. We would stay here again.
Centrally located in sunny Marin, San Anselmo is only 10 miles North of San Francisco with a fast ferry to San Francisco (or a short drive over Golden Gate Bridge), and very easy access to Muir Woods, Sausalito, Mount Tamalpais State Park, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Point Reyes National Seashore, Stinson Beach, Muir Beach, Bolinas, and the world-famous Napa/Sonoma Wine Country.
The town of San Anselmo has a charming, creek-side downtown district a few blocks from the house with cafes, restaurants, bakeries, book stores and wine bars. Readers of Sunset Magazine voted San Anselmo “Best in the West” for antiquing because of its' charming small town ambiance, views of the seminary and Mount Tam and over 30 antique stores within walking distance of each other. The town of Fairfax, with live music venues, a movie theater, restaurants, bars and shopping is only 1.6 miles from the house.
For the outdoor enthusiasts, there are abundant hiking trails and open space areas. There is a trail head within a short walk of the house, and a longer walk or short drive (1.5 miles) will take you to Natalie Coffin Greene Park and Phoenix Lake with shorter hikes and mountain biking as well as access to all the Mount Tam trails. Bike rentals are available in town.
