Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Rural Cottages

These Cornish holiday cottages were converted from 19th century farm buildings in a wonderful rural position with stunning views over the countryside to the Atlantic. Just a few miles from some of the beautiful beaches North Cornwall has to offer they are ideally situated for a relaxing seaside break, surfing holiday and coastal walks. These self-catering country cottages provide a great base for exploring eastwards into North Devon including Clovelly and Hartland Abbey. Expand your visit further into Cornwall visiting historic St Ives and Tintagel. Padstow might provide a gastronomic experience. The Eden Project lies to south.

A shared courtyard welcomes you to Ivy leaf Barton. The cottage has a comfortable downstairs living area leading through to enclosed garden to the rear. Patio furniture with makes it a beautiful situation in which to relax and enjoy 'Al fresco' living.

Well maintain shared grounds also give access to tennis court and (private) golf course.

BARN: is the end cottage. It has the blue scheme in the photos. There garden is slightly bigger. Please note that the second bedroom has full size bunks and therefore may not be suitable for smaller children.

MILL: has the more neutral scheme in the photos. Mill has twin beds in the second room. By prior arrangement , please note that there is a sofabed in the living that might be suitable to additional guests or to sleep two couples.

Bude is a lovely and thriving seaside town with heaps of local activities. It has the charm of any such town without having become overrun by the tourist industry compared to some town further along the North Cornwall Coast.

We have been going there for seven years now and each time we make sure that we do something different and add it to the visitors book.

Trying a new dining venue is also a priority though the kids have their firm favorites for pasties!

Mountain boarding is literally next door- I confess that none of us have tried that one yet. But Ivyleaf Golf course has got to have one of the finest view ever.

Tamar Lakes water centre is a venue of which we have yet to take full advantage. We have been kayaking there and also had a blast in thosormous floating balls that you can ' walk on water'. But there are some lovely gentle lakeside walks and fishing.

Zorbing also happens through the Adventure International where you can also organize abseiling high wires and much much more. Most recently we enjoy the Waterpark/ Wake park just across the border in Devon.

Core to local sports must be surfing and with many local schools just ask around to find one that suits you.... if we are down there at the same time my husband Jason will do his best to get you standing up on one!

For less adrenaline but equally impressive are some of the gardens. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are beautiful and even the kids loved that one... particularly the 'lost ' bit. Of course Eden Profect is often the Jewel in the south west crown but do not overlook smaller more local gardens.

Tintagel cannot fall to impress but sturdy shoes and plenty of drinks should be taken to fully enjoy the site.

I am not sure how much more to go on about this place that we have come to love so much

About anna bailey

We are a happy family who love spending time here all together when we can and allowing others to share this beautiful part of our island...almost better that that are the quiet off peak times when my husband and I have had a sneaky kid free break.

Why anna bailey chose Kilkhampton

Whenever we come back , I breathe a sigh of relief as the tranquillity kicks in and we settle down into this cosy cottage, found up a small lane in some lovely countryside.

What makes this cottage unique

The golf course literally backs on to the garden. Mountain boarding slope just up the driveway and tennis court on site but due to the location of the cottage at the end of the courtyard, peace reigns ( except maybe during the school hols!)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Anna,

We had a great time thank you - your cottage was absolutely lovely. Perfect for what we were looking for. I am sure we will be back in the future!

Lovely hillside cottage with views of the sea

  • 4 of 5

Mill Cottage was an ideal base for us to explore the North Cornwall coast. It is situated in a quiet hillside location with clear views of the sea and is just a few minutes drive from Bude. The cottage itself was clean and tidy and well maintained, with ample room for a family of four. All the appliances were in good working order and the heating system kept the cottage nice and warm on the chilly nights. Overall we had a great holiday.

Great location with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

My parents and their Scottie dog spent a lovely Easter break in the barn in March 2016.

The location for the property is fantastic. It is at the end of a country lane with no through traffic, so it is quiet and rural with a great view out over the golf course and down towards the sea. Yet it is only about a 3minute drive from both Bude town centre and Stratton, or 5 minutes drive from Crooklets beach so it is still really well connected.

The property has everything you need for a comfortable stay so we would definitely recommend it and will happily consider coming back for future visits.

Fantastic location - Very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a long winter break in January - absolutely everything you need for a great stay whatever the weather. Lovely views from the top of a hill overlooking Bude and the surrounding coast. We stayed in Mill. Very quiet and you're left to enjoy it by the wonderful Manageress and Owners. And incredible value for money. Literally a few minutes drive to either Kilkhampton or Bude for anything you might need.

I can't believe that anyone could possibly have any complaints, because I can highly recommend Ivy Leaf.

Ruhig gelegenes Quartier mit toller Ausssicht

  • 4 of 5

Das Cottage ist ruhig gelegen mit toller Aussicht vom Schlafzimmer auf das Meer und die Landschaft. Das Cottage verfügt über alle wesentlichen Dinge bis auf wireless lan. Es ist gemütlich eingerichtet. In 5 - 10 Min.

Gem of a place!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, with some friends, stayed for a week at Barn and Mill at the end of August. They are beautiful, well-appointed cottages nestled in a small complex of holiday cottages with all home comforts – good kitchen with washing machine, comfy beds and a great sized living room with tv. Both cottages have gardens with stunning views over the adjacent golf course and beyond to the sea. There are dedicated parking spaces for both cottages in the grounds and a shared tennis court.

The surrounding area is lovely with tons to do. Bude is just a 10-minute drive away with its restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Try a surfing lesson at Sandymouth Beach and a coffee (or cocktail!) at Life’s A Beach. Port Isaac, Tintagel and Padstow are all worth visiting too.

We will definitely be back next year. The cottages are reasonably priced and they really are little gems. Highly recommended.
