About Margie Klueber

We visited North Captiva Island and were immediately charmed by its unique character. For us it was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Northeast, Though we weren't quite sure whether our young adult children would be equally charmed, they, too fell in love with this island getaway.

Margie Klueber purchased this house in 2012

Guestbook comments from the owner

outstanding

Left on 04/12/2012 for a stay in April 2012

The House, weather, stars and the island were great. However the greatest of all were the staff at Ncic who held our hands every step of the way regarding the water taxis etc.

Kim was outstanding. Unbelieveable patience and could not have been more understanding and helpful.

We have 5 children and one flew in from kansas the other from Houston. We try to get all of us together in spring someplace warm. We have been to Naples, Key Largo, Sannibel, Captiva and now North Captiva.

It was voted before we left NC that this is the place we all want to come back to each and every year.

Is it too early to put in our reservations for next year?

Wonderful trip

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to North Captiva, so we really didn't know what to expect about the experience. There were six of us, 5 adults (three in their 80's) and one 17 year old. We took the North Captiva ferry that was recommended and that was a much easier experience than expected. We drove to the ferry so we brought our own groceries. When we arrived at the check in center they met us at our car and helped us pack all the loose stuff in the bins and tagged our suitcases. It was a very quick and easy process. The house has a wonderful layout. The ground level has a great grill for grilling out. It also has an outdoor shower and hose to rinse off everything before going in. It's perfect to leave all of your chairs and beach items down there and they are ready to go the next day. There were extra beach toys and nets there for us to use. All of the bedrooms are on the next floor and are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The top floor has the main living space. It's a great, open layout with plenty of seating. The seating is very comfortable and there is a huge dining table. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need and there is even a pantry for all of the food you bring. The screened porch off the seating area is huge and was an evening favorite for us. We ate all of our dinners out there and enjoyed the sunset. The beach is beautiful and the water was crystal clear. The house comes with one cart that seats 4 (if the people are smaller you could squeeze on 5). Only the front of the cart is covered, so if it rains you would need an umbrella for the people on the back. If you are thinking of renting another cart do it well in advance as we waited until we got there and there were none available from the North Captiva Island club or any other place on the island. If I had it to do over again I would have rented the 2nd cart because it is just more convenient with 6 people. But you can certainly make it work with one since the island is not very big and the house is conveniently located. Margie was wonderful to work with and gave us great suggestions for things to do. Definitely take advantage of the kayaking. And when you are at the dock where you launch the kayaks, hang around and watch for the manatees. We saw them there every day. I would highly recommend this house and can't wait to come back!

Great home

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for our trip and just as advertised! We had two adults and four children (aged 3-14) and even grand parents (for one night). It was plenty of space & beds and very comfortable. Well decorated and extremely convenient to the beach and the island club/pool. No complaints! I highly recommend this house and Captiva island!

island paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was our first - but certainly not last - vacation on North Captiva Island. We have visited many nice places on Florida's west coast but this island certainly has all the makings for a very relaxing and memorable trip. Once you have figured out all the logistics re. car parking, the shuttle and ferry ride, and pre-ordering and pick-up of your groceries all you need to do is pack your bags and make it to the ferry on time. Once on the ferry, we felt our vacation really had started! While we had some bad luck with our grocery order (i.e. we ordered 3 dozens of apples and all we got was 3 apples, same for a 5lbs bag of potatoes - we received 5 potatoes instead!) we had ordered plenty foodnand were totally fine. The house was totally fine for all 9 of us (2 families with 4 kids ranging from 11-3), the kids loved the games and books in the home and the little ones enjoyed the beach toys provided! The layout of the kitchen & living room & porch area provides a great setting for all to relax, chat and have a good time at any time of day! While the kitchen has many pots and pans, and plenty of plates, silverware, and glassware, there were no spices, tin foil, plastic wrap, ziplock bags etc. Had we known we would have ordered that at the store. However, when we shared this info with the owner she appreciated the feedback and indicated to add this to the home for future renters. We totally enjoyed the kayaks that were available to us, and spend many many hours in the heated pools at the club house. Unfortunately, the bikes available were large bikes and only for adults, none of our kids were able to use any of the bikes that are available through this rental property. We made many walks on the beach and one early morning we walked all the way to the most southern tip. Every day on the island was special, and each and every one of us are already looking forward to our return next year.

Wonderful Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to North Captiva and what an amazing, relaxing trip it was. The island is so unique to any other Florida beach vacation we had been on. Although we were a little anxious about the the l need to purchase all of our groceries ahead and ferry them all over, it was very simple. I would definitely recommend using Publix on Pine Island , they were helpful and efficient. We paid a little extra to have them package all of our frozen, meat and dairy items to stay cold on the trip over.

The house was great! We were pleasantly surprised by the size and openness of the living space. The kitchen was a little small but but very manageable and had a great pantry for all of our food which we weren't expecting . The two masters were nice and roomy with their own bathrooms. This was was a huge plus since we were sharing the house with another family. The two other rooms were small but perfect for four kids.

Not knowing the island we were unsure of the proximaty to everything. After being there just a day we realized we had a great location with just a short walk or golf cart ride to both the pool and the beach.

This trip was awesome and we look forward to returning soon.

" We'll be back "

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week stay on North Captiva at " I'll be There" . We enjoyed the vacation thoroughly. All information regarding stay and check in was very informative for newbees to the island.. All information from Margie was very timely and we were not ever " surprised by anything" . The house was very clean and well represented in all of the photos online... The beach is beautiful , the shelling is amazing, and the house is nicely located for easy access to pool, kayaks, marina etc... The fishing was excellent... Grouper, pompano, snook, sea trout, catfish, ladyfish all within 15 minutes of the marina.. We saw large amounts of wildlife not normal to " Wisconsinites" gopher turtles, large sea turtles, dolphins and even a few sharks... Thanks for a great time .. all of children ranging in ages from 7-16 loved the island and have everlasting memories...

Wonderful Vacation Home & Island!

  • 5 of 5

My family was looking for a place to have a little down time, mixed in with sand & warmth. Isle be There met all our needs. We have never been to North Captiva Island, so went into this with eyes open. We had 6 adults and two kids under 3. From the time I researched places and got in touch with Margie, I knew that all that we were looking for was met. We received timely communication on what to do on the island, including transportation and groceries prior to our arrival.

The home was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. It was well located to the beach and having an extra golf cart was a bonus for us. We were able to rent fishing poles & were surprised at what we caught from the beach. Every day provided sun with temperatures in the 80's. It was a perfect time to reconnect with each other and have quality down time. We saw manatees and land turtles, too. Barnacles was also a favorite to eat out.

Being on an island with no cars gave a sense of beauty and quiet. It was nice to have access to the pool, bar and snacks. We rented a boat one day and was able to see things from the water.

When you hear "mom, this was the best trip ever", it will definitely be a place we will return to for more memories!
