About the property

Heated Private Pool! 2 miles from town! Sunsets! Designer Decorated!

This luxury home has direct OCEAN and SUNSET VIEWS from the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, the master bedroom, along with the main floor and the upper floor lanais. The bottom floor of this 3 level home, has a nice view of the gardens. This house is very quiet, yet is close to everything! You can hear the surf from your bed at night.

Air Conditioning is provided throughout the house, which is something all close-in homes here do not have. (This is because homes here do not usually need air conditioning except for the months of August through October. Other times of the year residents enjoy the wonderful cross-breezes that waft through the houses). Click "MORE DETAILS" to see MORE!

The swimming pool is solar heated, and the outdoor jacuzzi is hot and available all day.

The house is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath private luxury home with a panoramic, sunset, view of the Ocean and a fabulous master suite. This is not an 'ohana' (or in-law suite) associated with another house, as some of them are. This is a separate house, on its own separate lot. This house also has a printer, WiFi, is a 5 minute drive to the main shopping and restaurant district, and also to the closest beaches in the main "fun and sunny town" of the Big Island- Kailua-Kona.

The house has an extensive video collection of 'favorite' DVD movies (including children's movies), and (for children's enjoyment) has some toys, a high chair and Graco Pac n Play. The kitchen has most of the appliances and spices you could want. The back of this house overlooks the ocean and is very private. The front of the house overlooks the mountains.

We call this house the 'Crystal House' because of the crystals found in the foyer and scattered around the yard. All this provides for a peaceful, yet fun, place to spend your vacation. Gorgeous art and antiques are throughout this house.

The house is in Kailua-Kona, and is about 2 miles south ( a 5-7 minutes drive) of the main part of town with the many restaurants and shops. Kailua-Kona is the main tourist spot on The Big Island of Hawaii. It is on the sunny side of the island (as opposed to Hilo which is on the rainy side). It is 80-85 degrees and sunny almost every day of the year in Kailua-Kona. The house is on the west coastline of the island, which provides gorgeous sunset views almost every night of the year.

The Big Island is a magical place to visit since it has a lot of "Aloha Spirit". It's easier to understand the magic of the Aloha Spirit once you come, since a lot of this has to do with the 'feeling' many people get while on the island. The house, with its amazing south pacific breezes and true calm, adds to the enjoyment of the aloha spirit on the island. Our goal is to create a place where our guests can relax and enjoy an incredible vacation whether in the house or out and about.

We love helping our guests have a fabulous time by giving them our best recommendations of our 15 years of living here. We offer a nice list of "What to do on the Big Island?" which many guest have said they have found to be invaluable. We can be reached easily and we care to be available quickly when needed. This house is IDEAL for couples, honeymooners, and families.

Luxury! Magnificent! Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This home is awesome! The ocean views are spectacular! My family of 5 - including me and my husband, our 2 young adult sons (ages 24 and 21) and our teenage daughter (age 15), totally enjoyed our stay at the Crystal House. It was perfect for having great family time! There was enough room for us to spread out and have alone time - with a deck off the Master Bedroom when I wanted to read alone, and a deck off the garden bedrooms when the young adults wanted privacy for phone calls. We had such great family moments - playing family games of basketball in the pool; games of scrabble on the lanai; and having conversations in the hot tub. The kitchen has everything that you need! Most importantly, the house is so convenient for activities in Kona - just a short drive to the airport, to dining, for jet skiing and water activities. We had an awesome time!!!

Also, the owners provide so much information before you arrive which is very useful for planning your visit to Kona.

Highly Recommended!!!! Thanks, Laurie and Jacob, for sharing your home in paradise!

Great house!!

  • 4 of 5

Our family recently spent 17 days at this home and had a really great experience. The owners are incredibly responsive. Any issue that came up they were very quick to respond by text. They left a great binder of information that had tons of tips. The kitchen was very well stocked and they have a great library of videos for use. The home is well maintained and the beds are very comfortable. The house is in a good location and has everything that you need to have a great family vacation. The house is in a quiet safe neighborhood and you wake up every morning to the sounds of birds. Kona itself is a fabulous spot with tons of stuff to do. Swimming with the dolphins and the night manta ray snorkel were highlights for us. The Coffee Shack for breakfast and Fosters Kitchen for dinner. Magic Sands Beach is the closest beach to the house and it is a great one.

House had everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home with a great view! Quiet neighborhood, but did have neighboring dogs barking that was a distraction.

Pool, patio, hot tub and grill were used lots! The house has everything you could need while being away from your home!

Kona Crystal House

  • 4 of 5

We just had an amazing family vacation in lovely Kona and were very happy with our island home!! Thank you to Jacob and Laurie for sharing their Crystal House with us. It was very well equipped to accommodate our family with two babies. We spent the majority of our time in the pool area and were very happy that it had a lot of shade with blinds. The location is fabulous, so handy to all amenities and the view was one we will miss every day!!

Best trip EVER!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from the best vacation of our lives. A great part had to do with The Crystal House. It’s close to so many activities including the quaint town of Kailua-Kona with many bars and restaurants. The pacific breeze flows through the place so we dudnt beed the a/c much. The pool and hot tub were great! The furnishings are top notch. They supply Games, loads of DVDs and toys. The owners clearly care that their guests enjoy themselves. The Ocean views were spectacular. You can even hear the surf at night.

We’ll definitely return to the Crystal House! Thank you for everything!

Getting around the Big Island is very simple since there is (pretty much) one highway going around the whole island. Check out the map of the island included in our photos. It's an excellent idea to get the book 'Hawaii The Big Island Revealed' before your visit.

SIMPLE BIG ISLAND VACATION PLAN OF MUST DO's: (see more details below)

1. Have Breakfast and coffee at Lava Java downtown 75-5799 Alii Drive- 327-2161 You may want to start every morning this way... Our # 1 'MUST DO'.

2. Lunch at The Coffee Shack. The view is 'wow'. (11 miles south on highway 11. (808) 328-9555)

3. Go to Huggo's for a fantastic dinner and view of the ocean followed by Huggo's on the Rocks (next door). downtown Kailua-Kona. . 808 329-1493. Needs reservation for Huggo's. Alii Drive, right of Royal Kona Resort.

4. Have Drinks at The Kona Inn- downtown on the water- Go for the view and the Mai Tai's. 75-5744 Alii Dr, 329-4010

5. Go to Hawi and eat at the Bamboo Restaurant for a very Hawaiian experience. Shop Hawi then go to Polulu Point (see more below).

6. Go Zip-Lining near Hawi!

7. Do the Sea Quest snorkeling and Cave trip boat tour with Captain Liam (2 miles from the house).

8. Drive to Volcano National Park (dont miss the Chain of Craters Road) and have lunch at Cafe Ono.

9. Drive to Hilo and see the Botanical Gardens, see Akaka Falls and eat at the 50's restaurant on the way.

10. Have a Lava Flow and snorkel at Kahalu'u Beach (2 miles away from the house, best snorkeling on island) and/or spend a day at (the more lush beach) Hapuna Beach, perhaps have lunch at the price Hotel next door- (45 minutes north).

11. Stroll through the Kona Outdoor Market open Wednesdays through Sundays. Downtown Kona next to St Michael's Church.

12. Go to a luau the Royal Kona Luau (2 miles from the house).

13. Check out some traditional Hawaiian take-out food to keep at the house. Kailua Pork gotten at the Kava Bar next to Wasabi's downtown and the 'Dynamite Poke' from Da Poke Shack on a mile away. Also Killer Taco's is a legend in Kona for take out tacos and the famous 'Barnyard Burrito'.

14. Consider para-sailing and Jet-skiing in close by downtown Kailua-Kona.

See below for much much more!

BEST BOOK TO GET: 'Hawaii The Big Island Revealed' (the blue book)- hands down.

The house offers a solar heated pool, an outdoor hot tub plus a jacuzzi in the master bath, an extensive video collection, and some toys.

We have boogie boards, surf boards, towels, beach chairs, coolers etc etc. Feel free to use anything.

A fantastic WALKING PATH is just up the street- (the Walua trail is 3 blocks up the hill to the right). This is a historic trail where donkeys used to deliver goods to this town. It is a fairly flat trail (hard to find in a hilly town like Kailua-Kona) and if you look you'll see mile markers, so you will know how long you've walked.

The house is close to one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island (Kahalu'u Beach Park), one of the best surfing spots (Lyman's Beach which you can see from the master bedroom), 'Magic' Sands Beach (the beach is there... then it's 'not' there!) and Keauhou Bay (that offers many water activities- we love Sea Quest fast boat snorkeling and cave tours 329-7238 and dolphin excurions (see below for much more). In downtown Kona / Alii Drive you can sign up for parasailing, kayaking and jet-skiing.

.....Ask Lauri for the complete list of activities and restaurants- also included in our guest book in the house!
