|Minimum Stay||4 - 9 nights|
This luxury home has direct ocean views from the living room, the dining room, the kitchen and the master bedroom! You can hear the surf from your bed at night!
This is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath private luxury home with a panoramic (sunset) view of the Ocean. This is not an 'ohana' (or in-law suite) associated with another house as some of them are. This is a separate house on it's own separate lot. This house has a private solar-heated pool…a hot tub with an ocean view…a printer, WiFi, and is a 5 minute drive to the main shopping and restaurant district in town and also to the closest beaches. The house has an extensive video collection of 'favorite' DVD movies (including children's movies), and has some toys, a high chair and Graco Pac n Play for children. It has most appliances you could want. The back of this house overlooks the ocean and is very private. The front overlooks the mountains.
We call this house the 'Crystal House' because of the crystals found in the foyer and scattered around the yard.
The house is in Kailua-Kona about 2 miles south of the main part of town with many restaurants and shops. Kailua-Kona is the main tourist spot on The Big Island. It is on the sunny side of the island (as opposed to Hilo which is on the rainy side). It is 80-85 degrees and sunny almost every day of the year in Kona. Kailua-Kona is on the coastline of the island. The Big Island is a magical place to visit. It's easier to understand this magic once you come, since a lot of this has to do with the 'feeling' many people get while on the island.
Jacob and Laurie love living on the Big Island and sharing it with others through rentals. We love providing you with the best of the best. We also love helping you plan your stay! Feel free to write us at any time for recommendations!
Jacob and Laurie Teitelbaum purchased this house in 2005
This is a luxury home is close-in ( 2 miles) into the main tourist area of Kona, it has a private heated pool, outstanding ocean views from the living room, dining room, the lanai, and the master bedroom, an outdoor jacuzzi with an ocean view and a jacuzzi bathtub in the master bathroom. It is close into Kailua-Kona town, which is the main area people like to vacation on the Big Island. The home has many amenities for all. This house has amenities for the kids such as a video library (with adult and kid movies), a high chair and a Graco pac n play. We provide a nice list of favorite things to do on your vacation (many guests have told us they use only this list and are thrilled with their vacation!). This home provides an abundance of everything you would need. Don't miss our many great reviews!
This house is a private home with a private solar heated pool. Tis is not an "ohana" attached to another house, as some are. It is beautiful, very comfortable and extremely quiet. It is about a two mile drive to Kailua-Kona town and has luxuries such as a hot tub, and you can hear the surf from your bed at night! Baby items and toys included!
Greetings Potential Guests! This is a new rental property so there are no rental reviews available yet. We look forward to some positive reviews in the near future!
Thank you. Jacob and Laurie
This was a really great place. It was bright and sunny, not to mention very comfortable and clean. The pool and hottub were perfect for our family. All the beds and couches were very comfortable. I give it only 4 stars because: there was minimal condements and necessities such as toilet paper. We had to go out and shop for those. In addition, there was also minimal toys and things of the sort to take to the beach. Overall, our family loved this house and would definitely return!
Our family of five adults spent a week at the Crystal House and were absolutely delighted with our accommodations. The property is just as described--not at all “oversold” as one occasionally encounters on VRBO. As others have noted, photos can’t adequately capture the loveliness and serenity of the house and setting. We appreciated that the home is very elegantly appointed without being “over the top.” The floor plan allowed for couples to have their own space when desired, yet accommodated us all together beautifully in the main indoor and outdoor living spaces. The master suite and bath are spacious and luxurious, and the view from the master deck is expansive. As others have noted, downstairs bedrooms are small-ish but very comfortable and inviting, opening to their own patio and garden. Everything about this property encouraged us to let go of the stress and cares of “real life” and appreciate the beauty and simplicity of the view, the pool, the gardens and flowers, the birdsong in the morning and afternoon, the serene interior spaces. This was our second trip to the Big Island, and we did quite a bit of exploring the first time. This time we had planned to visit the Volcano National Park and return to the Waipio Valley, but in the end we opted to just visit some of the local beaches and return “home” to watch the sunset from our own private sanctuary.
The pool and hot tub were great. The pool is (actively) solar heated, so water temperature fluctuates, but on the sunny days when we wanted to use it it warmed up nicely, and on rainy or cloudy days a soak in the hot tub was a great alternative. Hot water for showers was not always in abundant supply because of the solar heating and a string of cloudy or downright rainy days, but knowing that the solar heating system was doing the best it could under the circumstances made it all OK. We’ve had many, many VRBO rentals and have never had a kitchen so well stocked with spices, condiments and everything we needed to prepare meals. Likewise with amenities such as beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel gear, board games, island maps and guide books, and a huge selection of movies to watch.
We are truly grateful to the owners for sharing this very special retreat and feel quite fortunate to have chosen this property—it definitely added to our having a memorable respite on the Big Island. We would return to it in a heartbeat and will definitely recommend it to friends!
From the moment you walk in the door of this beautiful home in paradise you feel a tranquil peace. The home is beautifully maintained and the views, STUNNING! You can rise to the ocean every morning from the master bedroom and enjoy your morning tea on the private lanai. Comfy beds & luxury linens will keep you well rested for the adventures that await you on the Big Island. The home is well laid out and spacious. It's also very well equipped! Everything from spices, to condiments, beach chairs and umbrella! The owners have thought of EVERYTHING and are SOOOOO welcoming! My husband and I traveled here with our 12 year old son and we enjoyed the pool together , playing games and giggling! Most of the back opens onto the gorgeous lanai and there is a gentle cross breeze that is very soothing! We spent many evenings outside sharing a meal from the grill, watching the sun set over the ocean and gazing at the stars. The home is close to everything FUN, yet tucked away in a fabulous neighborhood with loads of privacy. We cannot wait to come back and visit! This dream vacation home deserves 10 STARS!!!!!
We had the best vacation ever and I was very impressed with the house. It was very comfortable and relaxing. I especially enjoyed the pool and hot tub a couple of times per day. I used the washer/dryer also. Hope I have the opportunity to come back next year around Ironman time. In the interim, I'll look at the many photos of this beautiful house that I have and relive the wonderful time I had with my friends.
We loved having beach mats, coolers, floats for the pools, beach towels, spices to cook with, etc.. That all was a nice added touch. The house was so perfect for us. We also enjoyed the quiet street, the location was close to downtown Kona, The beds were very comfortable... I can't say enough positive things about this house!!
Jacob and Laurie are very easy to work with. Their home is filled w many things to make you feel like you where home. It was a nice peaceful neighborhood close to the best beaches and stores. We had a few hickups at first but Laurie had their handyman out taking care of our concerns quickly and efficiently.
Overall this was the most comfortable relaxing vacation of lounging around the pool and playing lots of games together.
house was perfect, nice location for going to various places on island. information provided for guest was very helpful. things available for guests like coolers, snorkel equipment, left over things in fridge like mustard, ketchup, mayo, salad dressings and a huge selection of spices saved us a lot of money. wifi, cable, bbq grill were great.
1st. day we had a couple minor issues but Mark took care of them quickly. would very much recommend this place to everyone.
Getting around the Big Island is very simple since there is (pretty much) one highway going around the whole island. Check out the map of the island included in our photos. It's an excellent idea to get the book 'Hawaii The Big Island Revealed' before your visit.

We have boogie boards, surf boards, towels, beach chairs, coolers etc etc. Feel free to use anything.
A fantastic WALKING PATH is just up the street- (the Walua trail is 3 blocks up the hill to the right). This is a historic trail where donkeys used to deliver goods to this town. It is a fairly flat trail (hard to find in a hilly town like Kailua-Kona) and if you look you'll see mile markers, so you will know how long you've walked.
The house is close to one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island (Kahalu'u Beach Park), one of the best surfing spots (Lyman's Beach which you can see from the bedroom), 'Magic' Sands Beach (the beach is there... then it's 'not' there!) and Keauhou Bay (that offers many water activities- we love Sea Quest fast boat snorkeling and cave tours 329-7238 and dolphin excurions (see below for much more). In downtown Kona / Alii Drive you can sign up for parasailing, kayaking and jet-skiing.
.....Ask Lauri for the complete list of activities and restaurants- also included in our guest book in the house!
