Unbelievably beautiful home in Tuscany!
My wife and I spent a wonderful week in this beautiful Tuscan home in June 2018.
We've described Laura, our host, to all of our friends as a lovely British woman with a beautiful English accent and she was very helpful in explaining Sinalunga and the surrounding area.
Each morning we awoke to such incredible Tuscan views - then had only a short car ride to one of the many places that we wanted to visit, like Siena, Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino - and then at the end of the day we would again sit in front of those amazing views with a glass of wine, some meats and cheeses from Giuseppe's store and reflect on the day (or in my case - read Laura's book on how she came to Tuscany +20 years ago).
Sinalunga is a great town - the Tuesday market cannot be missed (I couldn't resist cobbling together the right Italian words so that I could order a Porchetta sandwich - for breakfast) - but when not eating pork for breakfast, we'd have a cappuccino and pastry from Le Fonti, the local Pasticceria - and we also found it hard not to finish our day with a gelato purchased in Piazza Garibaldi - we would have loved to have stayed another entire week and never left our little corner of Sinalunga.
The parking for our rental car was free and safe, and the people of the town were cordial, even though we spoke little Italian.
This was one of the best vacation weeks of our lives!
Thanks so much Laura - we'll never forget you or your beautiful home!!!
Deeply touched by your kindness and generosity. You're welcome here any time
Best of luck to you both.
Laura's cottage is the perfect location for an exciting and restful stay in Tuscany!!
From the moment we arrived in Sinalunga we fell in love! After renting a car in Siena and driving approximately 1/2 hr we arrived. We phoned Laura upon arrival and she wittily entertained us by phone giving us specific directions to her cottage in English as we also asked a few bystanders through the car window along the way which wasn't so easy hearing those directions in Italian 😉 Once we arrived at the church in the piazza, we schlepped our bags down a lovely old rock alleyway with gothic arches to our incredible destination. We were so tickled that we had booked the bulk of our vacation at this lovely cottage. Laura greeted us there and gave a thorough tour of the place explaining all the ins and outs. The cottage is absolutely artistically amazing with special architectural touches all throughout spread amongst 4 levels. The balconies are especially inviting, allowing you to view an expansive look over the Tuscan valley below. We really enjoyed the remoteness of this location as it didn't feel like we were tourists at all. A wonderful central base to visit surrounding towns such as Montepulciano, Cortona and Siena less than an hour away. Laura Graham is also an author and her book "Down a Tuscan Alley" was available for sale, which was such an interesting read while we stayed there highlighting some of the varied places we visited while in the small quaint town. In summary.....we couldn't have found a more perfect place to spend in Tuscany.....Serendipitous!!
Thank you so very much for this review.
It has made me very happy!
Great apartment to have as a base to use as we visited Tuscany
Laura was a very gracious and welcoming host. We had everything we needed. She had water, wine, coffee and fruit waiting for us. Her place is lovely, very clean, comfortable and the piazza has everything you might need. Giuseppe is right down the lane and is very welcoming to tourists. His little grocery has everything you need. Travels to Siena, Cortona, Florence the wineries are all within an hour or less. We would love to come back.
Thank you so much. Please return any time you will always be welcome.
Our second time at Laura's Cottage
We stayed here with friends in September of 2012. We were enjoyed our stay so much that we returned with some other friends. I wrote a more detailed review then. You can read it for more detail. I will just say that not much has changed since then. It is a very comfortable cottage with great views of the valley and it is close to many places of interest. Laura is close by and is so helpful with suggestions for places to vist, restaurants, etc. Five stars once again!
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was good to see you again and to welcome your friends to the cottage. Hope to see you all in the near future. In the meantime, take care.
This is the real Tuscany!
We were two Canadian couples traveling from Florence on a two week vacation. We stayed at Laura's cottage for 5 night and was the highlight of our trip. Laura met us in the piazza and took us to her lovely cottage. Sinalunga may not be on the tourist attraction list in Tuscany, but it was a true Tuscan town complete with everything that makes a visit to this area memorable. The town is very small and they welcome tourists.
The cottage was well equipped and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The balconies offered wonderful views of the countryside and we felt that all of the areas we wanted to visit were very accessible. The restaurants were wonderful and we had a great meal and experience at Forcillo. It was so quiet and relaxing I really hated to leave. I even miss the rooster!
Thank you so much Laura!
Thank you all so very much for the lovely review. Please come back whenever you want to, you'll
always be welcome.
We had a wonderful stay at this location. Laura was most helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. As luck would have it there was a market in town the day after we arrived so we had the opportunity to pick up wonderful fish and produce and cook it in a very well equipped kitchen. Beautiful views from living and bedrooms and wonderfully quiet.
Sinalunga is the perfect base from which to explore Tuscany. Pienza, only 25 minutes away,
a beautiful village set in the hills. Then Montepulciano, 20 minutes in the car for the wine tasting. Siena, the 'greatest little city in the world', 35 minutes away. And Arezzo 30 minutes away with the Piero della Francesco frescoes.
Other Activities: Sitting in the bar and watching Italian life.
