Overview

Big Bend Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

1Bedroom /1 Bathroom Guesthouse-Sleeps 2

A newly-built guesthouse with the feel of the Old West.

We are located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but in reality being just minutes from downtown, this studio guesthouse gives you the best of both worlds.

Sit out on the large covered porch and enjoy watching the quail and other wildlife, or visit with our own assortment of livestock. We are pet-friendly, and can even board horses for a small fee.

After you have enjoyed your day, relax around a fire in the fire pit, or soak in the hot tub while watching the sky for shooting stars and satellites. If you feel like cooking outside, there is a gas grill available, or you can BBQ over the fire in the fire pit.

Inside the guesthouse, you will experience the warmth of rustic and the comfort of modern from the custom-built cedar furniture and cabinetry to the knotty-pine vaulted ceiling, along with the wall of windows opening onto a fantastic view of Alpine against the mountains. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, sink, cook-top, and pantry. It is equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, automatic coffee-maker, toaster, and cooking utensils.

The queen-size custom-built bed has plenty of storage space under it in case you want to stay awhile.

The television is a 32-inch flat screen with satellite service and a DVD player.

The guesthouse is climate-controlled with a whisper-quiet heating and cooling system.

The modern, spacious bathroom includes a large walk-in shower, and a vanity with plenty of counter space. There is also a hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board.

Come stay outside the box, and experience the true West Texas.

It was just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to find a place that was updated with a hot tub near Marfa and Fort Davis on our way from Big Bend. Our stay was perfect! The property is beautiful and our host, Lisa, was very accommodating. It is on the outskirts of Alpine but a short drive to grocery store/ coffee/ restaurants. It was such a bonus to be able to see their goats, chickens, horse, dog and cat everyday! We would certainly return!

Just perfect!

Such a wonderful place to stay! We could not have asked for more. Fully stocked with everything we could have needed. Clean and comfortable and a perfect location. The two and four legged friends outside make the trip. Lisa is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Very nice, well cared for, peaceful with a beautiful view of the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Steve and Lisa were wonderful hosts! The guest suite was very nice and comfortable. We took our motocycle into Big Bend during the day. It was so nice to come in and soak in the hot tub and grill out after a long day of riding. We even had fresh eggs from their hens! Made for a great breakfast! Alpine is a great little town with all the modern amenities. We didn't eat out much, bought groceries and cooked mostly, took snacks on the road with us, so we make good use of the kitchen and fridge. The owners have put so much heart into their home, we loved all the finishes and the view is beautiful. This home is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives back in Dallas. We loved it and will definitely be back!

Great hosts!

  • 5 of 5

Lisa and Steve were exceptional hosts! The property is lovely and we really felt like we were staying with friends, not strangers. They stocked the fridge with farm (their farm!) fresh eggs and a bottle of wine! Far better facilities than anything else in the area.

Excellent

We spent one night before heading into Big Bend National Park with our 2 horses. The place was great. Reasonably priced, immaculate and totally comfortable. We would stay again.

Beautiful spot!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful spot! Lisa and Steve were welcoming relaxed hosts who shared their slice of heaven with us. Beautiful cottage handbuilt by them, with expansion plans for a second guest suite ongoing. Handcrafted wood and tile finish. Warm and cozy with Mountain Views. Private separate entrance with beautiful patio overlooking pasture. Our children were welcomed to stay as well (floor pallet or bring a blow up mattress). Lisa and Steve graciously had our kids help gather morning fresh eggs, help brush the horse, watch the goats and enjoy the companionship of Shadow the dog and their sweet cat. We loved our stay and will come back! (One tip: don't rely on GPS! They've tried to get map to correct an error. Follow directions given in email.)

Located on the Fort Davis Hwy., we are just minutes away from downtown Alpine, Sul Ross University, restaurants, and shopping, including boutique art galleries and gift shops. Alpine is the gateway to Big Bend National Park, along with historic mining towns such as Terlingua(famous for its annual Chili Cookoff) and the bordertown of Lajitas with its championship golf course. To the west of Alpine is Marfa, filled with many historic buildings and a growing art community. In between Alpine and Marfa is the famous Marfa Lights visitors' center. North on the Fort Davis Hwy., along the Texas Mountain Trail, is the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, which features native plants of the Chihuahuan Desert located in a gorgeous canyon setting. Further down the road is the historic town of Fort Davis, just 20 minutes from us. While there, you can explore the actual Fort Davis, which is a National Historic Site. Fort Davis is filled with charming shops and restaurants that add to its Western flair. A little further up the road is the McDonald Observatory, where you can attend their famous Star Parties, or just take a tour. The Fort Davis Highway is used by both bicyclists and motorcyclists as a year-round scenic ride. There are so many activities to enjoy in this area, and we are located right in the heart of it all.
