A newly-built guesthouse with the feel of the Old West.
We are located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but in reality being just minutes from downtown, this studio guesthouse gives you the best of both worlds. This is our guesthouse, and sits approximately 30 feet from our house. The patio shown is part of our house. However, we are very respectful of your privacy, and all of the facilities are yours to use during your stay.
Sit out on the large covered porch and enjoy watching the quail and other wildlife, or visit with our own assortment of livestock. We are pet-friendly, and can even board horses for a small fee.
After you have enjoyed your day, relax around a fire in the fire pit, or soak in the hot tub while watching the sky for shooting stars and satellites. If you feel like cooking outside, there is a gas grill available, or you can BBQ over the fire in the fire pit.
Inside the guesthouse, you will experience the warmth of rustic and the comfort of modern from the custom-built cedar furniture and cabinetry to the knotty-pine vaulted ceiling, along with the wall of windows opening onto a fantastic view of Alpine against the mountains. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, sink, cook-top, and pantry. It is equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, automatic coffee-maker, toaster, and cooking utensils.
The queen-size custom-built bed has plenty of storage space under it in case you want to stay awhile.
The television is a 32-inch flat screen with satellite service and a DVD player.
The guesthouse is climate-controlled with a whisper-quiet heating and cooling system.
The modern, spacious bathroom includes a large walk-in shower, and a vanity with plenty of counter space. There is also a hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board.

Come stay outside the box, and experience the true West Texas.
Booked for a belated birthday getaway. Wanted the bigger rental. But it was unavailable on dates of trip. This little rental was just as great! Very lovely and Lisa.....
Well if you read other reviews. She was very awesome. The whole experience was awesome.
And the eggs and wine are real, unlike the Marfa Lights :/
Strongly recommend for a stay. You won't be disappointed.
It was great! We loved everything, especially all the animals. If we're ever in Alpine we will definitely stay again.
We were blown away at how great this place was/is. The bungalow was finished out very nicely and we woke up every morning to a perfect view of the sun rising over the mountains. Steve and Lisa are wonderful people and gave us great information about the area. The farm fresh eggs and wine was a added plus, next time I don't have to bring my own!! This is truly a must stay and we will be back!!
What a lovely little guest house. We really enjoyed our stay, in this very clean and well cared for guest house. The bathroom was quite large, the kitchenette was stocked, and the bed was very comfortable. There was a little sitting area and a table in the corner where we ate our omelettes made from fresh eggs from the owner's chickens. And the view out the window was charming, lots of horses, chickens and baby goats. Thumbs up!!
This is an amazing little place. Lisa and Steve are friendly without being overbearing or in your way. They go out of their way to make this place adorable and incredibly clean. Everything people said about the wine and eggs are true. It just adds up and makes this feel like a special place. I would go back in a heartbeat. The hot tub was great at night after touring around all day to just sit and look at the stars. Again, it was also incredibly clean. We used this as a base camp to travel around Marfa, Big Bend, Terlingua and Fort Davis. Big Bend was much farther than I thought but I was glad to come back to a hot tub and relax after our trips. I would like to stay in that area longer next time. We only had a few nights. The animals are fun to watch when you wake up and you have everything you need if you want to cook there in the room. They even started a fire for us the first night since I requested one, but it ended up raining on us. Steve and Lisa, thank you again. This was one of my best experiences for a rental by owner.
When we rented this place for our vacation, the pictures and description made us believe that we were the only ones there. We were very sad to find out that all the pictures, (the hammock, the hot tub) were on the owners house patio. The door to our little apartment opened up to the house patio. So if we were to get into the tub or the hammock (which we could not find) anyone from inside her house could watch us from inside the house. The place is very nice, and the owner, which we did not meet, was very generous with her farm fresh eggs and bottle of wine to help us enjoy our stay. The animals were awesome and fun to watch and pet, however there was another couple in the apartment next to us. I believe the entire place had about 4 or 5 apartments there.
I would have not booked the place if I had known that we were going to be there with others. I wanted solitude and to be alone. The pictures on this page show and are deceptive that make you feel that you have privacy in which you have NONE unless you are inside.
We ended up leaving 1 day early because we were so disappointed. I would hope that the owner will please restate that her back yard is RIGHT in front of your apartment door, as is her sliding glass doors to her home and living room. Pictures more accurately depicting privacy should also be posted.
Located on the Fort Davis Hwy., we are just minutes away from downtown Alpine, Sul Ross University, restaurants, and shopping, including boutique art galleries and gift shops. Alpine is the gateway to Big Bend National Park, along with historic mining towns such as Terlingua(famous for its annual Chili Cookoff) and the bordertown of Lajitas with its championship golf course. To the west of Alpine is Marfa, filled with many historic buildings and a growing art community. In between Alpine and Marfa is the famous Marfa Lights visitors' center. North on the Fort Davis Hwy., along the Texas Mountain Trail, is the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, which features native plants of the Chihuahuan Desert located in a gorgeous canyon setting. Further down the road is the historic town of Fort Davis, just 20 minutes from us. While there, you can explore the actual Fort Davis, which is a National Historic Site. Fort Davis is filled with charming shops and restaurants that add to its Western flair. A little further up the road is the McDonald Observatory, where you can attend their famous Star Parties, or just take a tour. The Fort Davis Highway is used by both bicyclists and motorcyclists as a year-round scenic ride. There are so many activities to enjoy in this area, and we are located right in the heart of it all.
